The NYT reports.
Screen grab from the NYT:
The typo has now been corrected, but I honestly thought for a second that "juros" might be some new slang for "jurors." You know how there's all this cutesy millennial slang like "doggo" and "kiddo."

Fat Albert foiled again.
If you say "juros" with a Piers Morgan accent it works.
Like churros
Are the rape charges being brought by the women who didn’t get a big enough part in the movie?
Where are the civil suits against Oprah and Degeneres and Streisand?
Just curious what the point of all of this is since they failed to get Trump.
Maybe Streep wasn't far off when she called Weinstein "God." He is capable of miracles, after all.
Kiddo was slang back when America was great. Originally great, not great again.
I'd like to see all the mega-star Female actors who accepted the casting couch and are now fabulously wealthy come forward and identify yourselves
“The typo has now been corrected, but I honestly thought for a second that "juros" might be some new slang for "jurors."”
Nah…just a journo typo.
Layers of editors
The only reason they are going after Weinstein is he is particularly fat and ugly and he might have taken a picture with Trump at some point.
This is how Hollywood worked for decades. There are thousands of men and women who did exactly what Weinstein did.
Déjà vu: that strange feeling we sometimes get that we've lived through something before...
Jennifer and Gavin Newsom most affected ...
But two hung juros? Does anyone suspect juro tampering? Surely fixing this trial is child's play compared to fixing the 1999 Oscars.
Weinstein is pathological. Try the case again. Make the rest of his life miserable.
If there was actual violence that would be one thing
I probably would have found Weinstein innocent given what I have seen from the trial so far.
Not sure why anyone thinks they have a serious case against him.
Everything has been confirmed as transactional so far. This really should be in contract court.
I want to see some feminists clamor for equality.
What do you think would happen to a man who claimed he was forced to have sex with a female producer to get a part and claimed he was raped?
All this trial is trying to prove is that women can’t be let out of the house without a chaperone.
So i dont see any evidencd of a rape kit: is that left out of the story
I wonder, did his lawyers ever try to argue the women were just physically attracted him and that's why it was consensual? He is pretty hot.
Beyond a reasonable doubt is a high standard.
Yes, why do women assume that just because a man is rich, powerful and good looking that they can just pull us into a hotel room and ride us like supermarket horsies? CC, JSM
The Harvey Weinstein story was titillating at first because it seemed like a truly disgusting, powerful Hollywood slob was getting his comeuppance - and he was. As the story has settled in though, to me the most disgusting part of this whole sordid mess is the question of why so many people, even famous people, put up with it for so long, knowing how bad it was. Within the question, lies the answer: Because they stood to gain from it. When is their punishment coming?
Im sure hes a wretched individual but that isnt a criminal offemde
In the black widow film ray winstone plays a standin for weinstein a Russian kgb general
A Weinstein Company film means quality, still.
It has not gone unnoticed that the number of typos in headlines and news articles has gone up substantially since the introduction of spell check. When I was in college, back before the turn of the century, I had a rule with writing: I always read it back to myself at least three times to try and catch errors.
I was called 'kiddo' back in the '50s. The 1950s.
And 'lying doggo' was a thing too, at least in British books.
Beware what you read from Corpo Journos.
Yeah, but just what is 'Spell Check'? Whenever I see a word with the red underline on-screen, when I right click I see the list of suggested spellings. If the word is actually misspelled, then the first one is usually the correction. The rest of the list almost always includes combinations of letters that are similar, but not actual words. What the heck?
Kiddo and Doggo are nails on the chalkboard for me.
Grow up.
I honestly thought for a second that "juros" might be some new slang for "jurors." You know how there's all this cutesy millennial slang like "doggo" and "kiddo."
Doggo is fine. Kiddo annoys me - not if someone is addressing their child and says, "hey, kiddo, let's go", only when it's an adult talking to other adults about their "kiddos". It doesn't bother me as much as someone referring to herself (or women in general) as a "girlie". That one gets me grinding my teeth.
If I get called for jury duty, I'm referring to jurors as juros. Maybe it will get me sent home.
"Yes, why do women assume that just because a man is rich, powerful and good looking that they can just pull us into a hotel room and ride us like supermarket horsies?"
We've suffered in silence too long. Thank you for giving us a voice too.
When called, I usually get out of jury duty by agreeing that I'm biased toward prosecution, and unlikely to be fair. I might actually be able to be fair, but I try to put my best side forward.
@baghdadbob: I'd like to see all the mega-star Female actors who accepted the casting couch and are now fabulously wealthy come forward and identify yourselves
It'd be easier and a shorter list if only the non-casting couch stars came forward. That would include Rose McGowan and some quirky characters who are distinctly not beautiful. Before TDS in 2016, everyone in Hollywood bowed down to artistic quality and production power. Many were (or are) open hedonists from the start.
Here, Harrison Ford awards the 2003 Oscar for Best Director to Roman Polanski, and the crowd goes wild. Martin Scorsese, Meryl Streep, Jack Nicholson, Nicolas Cage, Adrien Brody, and fat Harvey himself clap, cheer, and stand:

As with Mt. Everest climbers, they consciously made a deal for a chance to win.
"... on the charge that the disgraced Hollywood producer raped an aspiring actress in a hotel room in 2013.”
I guess that means her aspirations went unfulfilled. But it might just mean that she sucked as an actress too.

That is actually a plot point in the terrific miniseries Get Shorty (Not the original with John Travolta)
A scottish hit man for the Mexican mafia gets out of jail and gets a job as a PA for a studio executive. He seduces her, he documents it and then uses the leverage to get a movie made.

I was supposed to have jury duty this week. I went in and told the woman in charge, not the judge, that 1) Spanish is my second language 2) I am half deaf 3) I am almost 80 and can't go long without peeing.
I wrote an affidavit that because of my hearing and Spanish, I did not think I would be able to understand the fine points of any trial and would err on the side of finding not guilty with close to 100% certainty.
A couple days later, she called to tell me I am off the list forever. Yippee.
I would have been the asshole hung juror had I been on a jury.

My backup plan was that, if they did call me, I would piss my pants while waiting.

Decade after regrets?
I guess the E. Jean Carroll jury was unavailable for this one.
First they came for the copy editors and I said nothing ...
A bloggo and a juro walked into a bar...
"I guess the E. Jean Carroll jury was unavailable for this one."
Who knows? They could have been but like E. Jean, they didn't remember when the trial was being held.
Next time you see an actress, or actor, briefly appear in the backround, ask yourself if they were promised " a role in my next movie"
Just with the pieces of information I've read, I can see why it would result in a hung jury. I am aware that I am not able to make an informed opinion on this, but I am hesitant to judge the jury on this one.
On the other hand, i can see a great opportunity for a civil suit where a powerful person uses his influence to gain sexual favors for career advancement. In many job environments, this is sexual harassment and actionable. She should have invested in a some PR and gotten a good lawyer and tried to TRUMP Weinstein. Only she would probably have years, days and locations.
Weinstein is another in a long line of Hollywood dirtbags that stretchs back decades.

They only have to bribe one juror. Or find a Jewish Juror willing to do an OJ.
Good thing for Weinstein he's a liberal Democrat. If he was a Trump supporter, he'd be toast with a NYC jury.

With the advent of AI, we may be judged by 'jurobots.'
The JPMorgan “sex slave” lawsuit -
“Chirayu Rana, a 35-year-old former vice president in JPMorgan Chase’s leveraged finance division, sued his female boss Lorna Hajdini (a 37-year-old executive director at JPMC), alleging she had coerced him into “non-consensual and humiliating sex acts” for months starting in May 2024, drugged him multiple times, and subjected him to racial abuse (Rana is of Nepalese descent). He originally filed as “John Doe” before his identity was revealed.”
Story seems to be completely fabricated.

Gemini adds:
...the bartender says, "We don't serve your kind here."
The bloggo immediately posts a 5,000-word rant about the bar's toxic culture, lack of inclusivity, and questionable design aesthetic.
The journo waits three weeks, interviews four former bartenders, fact-checks the liquor license, and publishes a front-page exposé on systemic discrimination in the local nightlife industry.
By morning, the bloggo has 100,000 views, and the journo has a corrections notice.
Or
The bloggo live-streams their tears, launches a GoFundMe for emotional damages, and secures a three-book deal about surviving trauma.
The journo takes a deep breath, orders a water, and spends six hours writing a brilliant, deeply researched investigation into the bar's financial corruption.
The next day, both get laid off by an AI algorithm.
Good, suck it woke b*tches! We could use more common sense in US courts. I hope this is the judge that presides when Trump is tried (unfairly!) for raping children. Just because someone "proves" they were raped doesnt mean that the "rapist" has to suffer.

I always thought the #MeToo thing was a crock. Everyone knows how Hollywood has operated for more than a hundred years, and every year thousands of young women with flexible standards in men and morals go there determined to do whatever it takes to get a part in a movie.
I expect that the overwhelming majority of Weinstein's "victims" knew exactly what they were doing when they walked into his office, and did so willingly, even eagerly.
"Everyone knows how Hollywood has operated for more than a hundred years..."
"I'm shocked, shocked to find that gambling is going on in here!"
Your winning sir
Per this post from Neo Neo Con, Weinstein's lawyer introduced an (at best) ambiguous note written by Mann a few days after the encounter during cross-examination. This was the first trial to feature the note as evidence.
I was just about to note that
I read the article. The jurors split 9-3 in favor of acquittal. I wouldn't think they'll do better at the next trial.....He's currently serving a sixteen year sentence. You can't say he got off with a wrist slap........I think there used to be a huge overlap with prostitution and acting, and it was that way from the start. It's only fairly recently that it became an art form.......People used to wonder what porn actress would make the crossover to Hollywood and become legit. A few of them landed bit parts, but no, it wasn't a launching pad. What's noteworthy is that there are more established Hollywood people who crossed over into porn than the other way around.
Friendship with "benefits". Physical intimacy is invariably accompanied with an emotional investment and should be Planned... uh, planned accordingly, and not engaged lightly or with ulterior motives.
When I get called for jury duty, in voir dire I truthfully admit to being an engineer. That usually results in me being excused.
Taking a woman to your hotel room is clearly risky, very risky. That's why I insist that my sex always be open to the public: park bench, bus stop, phone booth (WTF is that), truck bed, front porch, etc.
Good. Weinstein and Cosby may have been horny pigs, but the women were willing sluts, druggies, and gold diggers, if not straight up whores
" 'What do you think would happen to a man who claimed he was forced to have sex with a female producer to get a part and claimed he was raped?'

The reverse was also the plot of Michael Crichton's "Disclosure," also made into a movie.
