Here's an interesting bet on Kalshi. The betting odds are fairly high that Kash Patel will be out at the FBI by June 1 and July 1. My view is that it is very unlikely as Trump likes Kash and the bettors have TDS.

…if I may spitball a theory: remember when the Trump administration made it a priority to round up violent criminal illegal aliens in Minnesota, and were planning to roll out larger scale operations in other cities, like a couple hundred brand new Ford Explorers show up in an ICE parking lot in Boston, a large warehouse is leased in New Hampshire, the Globe tells us it will be an ICE detention and process facility? Then, suddenly nothing happened. No roundups, no lesbian couples sideswiping agents. Nothing. Bondi, Noem, ousted suddenly, for silly reasons IMO. Their replacements will be better I’m told. So far? Not much…something happened. What was it? rehajm thinks…a war, and a budget. Republicans can but won’t pass one on their own. Need Democrat help. What did Ds ask for?…which long winded-ly brings me to Kash. Sure Trump likes him and all but…there’s budget negotiations happening right now…Kalshi may not be signaling TDS but rather: somebody knows something…
Too bad Charles Krauthammer isn't around. He's the psychotherapist who coined the term Bush Derangement Syndrome. I would like to hear a professional opinion on TDS. I can imagine someone not liking Trump, or not agreeing with his policies. But TDS throws policy out the window and concentrates on sheer hate for Trump. I, as a Rathskellar psychologist, suspect that Trump' presidency offends the self-worth of those who fancy themselves the anointed.
Watching films from the 40s and listening to jazz from the same time, i didn't realize how many of the songs were actually written in the 1920-1935 era.
Right now, I'm on a Tom Waits kick, never knew about him till AltMeade posted some of his tunes. Lots of good song, lots of weird off-the-wall stuff, lots of interesting in a good way stuff.
Its sorta funny how people will show up in TV shows and movies and if you're young or the movie is old enough, you have no idea who the actors are. For example, I thought Doris Day was a TV/movie star in 70s. I never realized she was singer, till I got into college in 80s and read about it!
And I've seen "Best years of our lives" and in the movie Hoagy Carmichael is the friend of "Homer" - a bar owner who tinkles on the piano. Until the 2000s, I just thought he was an actor. Now I know he was "Stunt Casting" 1946 style.
I don't think I've seen a Tom Waits movie, but if I had before 2026, I would've thought he was an actor.
A federal judge has thrown out Laura Loomer's lawsuit against Bill Maher for comments he made about a potential sexual relationship with Donald Trump.
Larry Klayman taking the L on this one. I really appreciate including this specific citation: “[f]ailure to investigate and poor journalistic standards are insufficient to establish actual malice.”
They were obvious jokes, the judge ruled, not statements of fact. https://storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.uscourts.flmd.434676/gov.uscourts.flmd.434676.194.0.pdf
Has to be very validating for Maher to finally have someone identify something he’s said as a joke.
I only post this because Achilles blames everything on white women in scores of his posts, so maybe this AI version of white women is something an incel like him would enjoy.
Hoagie Carmichael brings up an image of dancing at the Indiana University ball in black tie with your future wife in 1920. Not a bad time to live. Except for the depression and war all that.

Good old Hoagy. I hadn't heard this recording before.

But I could be wrong!
“I hadn't heard this recording before.”
It might be the greatest recording ever. What’s the competition? For me it’s only Rudy Vallee’s “Deep Night” And Louis Armstrong’s “West End Blues.”
Strange things at UW-Madison
Yeah, I love "stardust" although I've never heard the H/C version.
Stardust
Hoagy playin it.
I prefer Starlust Mammaries by Dolly Parton.

Louis Armstrong’s “West End Blues". Yeah that's great. And so is "Potatohead Blues". IRC, Woody Allen mentions one of these two in Manhattan.

I can't make heads or tales of rehajm's long but nebulous comment. What are you suggesting?
…deals were made…
…if I’m making a play I’ll take a ‘no’ Trump impeachment before Jan ‘28 @ .34 cents…
The original recording is interesting. Hoagy does everything except sing the actual tune, like he's allergic to it or something.
The piano version reminds me of Bix Beiderbecke playing his composition 'In A Mist'.

Willie Nelson had a great cover of Stardust, long ago.
My favorite of separate Hoagy Carmichael, Rudy Vallee and Louis Armstrong recordings of the same piece--The Whiffenpoof Song.
Hoagie carmichael was the suggested model for bond in form, which is an introguing choice
Gopnik has long since stopped being interesting
Kalshi having welshed on the khamenei bet
…just stay off the prop bet sites. Even Robinhood…
