The columnist, Michelle Cottle did not detail this "built differently" hypothesis, so I paraphrased it: "the idea is if we want truly great men in our positions of power, we need to accept the component of their psyche that is a drive for sex — a lot of sex, with young, beautiful women."

Beauty filters illustrate the psychological issues of the Karens and woke and transgendered and anxious social media crowd. The world is how I demand it to be, not how it really is.

I don't see how you can have a broken heart twice. I mean, I understand that "heartbreak" is just an emotional clang in a sentence. But that's the point - it's a worn out cliche. The "powerful, ambitious" part of the story went over her head. It is true that powerful, ambitious women are less likely to grope people than their male counterparts, but men who aren't powerful and ambitious are also less likely to grope than the Swalwells are.
As for the powerful and ambitious men, most of the presidents of my lifetime were likely to engage in vulgar locker room talk in private with their friends, but most of them weren't gropers or rapists. Some politicians are too singularly focused on their careers to have interest in sex of any sort. Others learned self-restraint as they grew up. Politics attracts narcissists and politicians become narcissistic, but the truly toxic narcissists tend to crash and burn at some point -- often early on -- because they can't control their instincts.

It's been a while since I spent much time on photography (my camera uses film). Back then, filters were something that screwed on the front of the lens to manage light, reduce glare or darken scenes to allow for longer exposures.

@FullMoon -- The followers had to be very young to not know the fake face was cartoon anime. Straight out of a video game. Some Asian models kind of look like the fake version, but just kind of. Asian-made animation and games often look like that.

They are called filters because they are mathematical manipulations of all the pixels in an image that do the equivalent of what a physical filter does to the photons passing through a lens to make an image on silver-nitrate film. You can make the image soft-focus, or with increased sharpness, or vignetted, or more contrasty, or sepia-toned, or solarized, or photo-negative, or whatever you like from endless possibilities. Modern software and hardware allows them to be applied to a live video stream, and they are widely used to make women appear younger and more attractive on TikTok and Instagram.
They work automatically on the entire image, and in that sense are different from the targeted manipulation that a video editor might do to correct focal blemishes on a clip that is going to be viewed later. It's the same as the difference between screwing a soft-focus filter into the lens of your film camera before you take a photograph, versus retouching the printed photo afterwards to remove a mole or tattoo or cellulite before it is released.

The thing that bothers me about some of filters is that they make adult women look like little girls. It's not just eliminating imperfections and wrinkles, it's extreme de-aging.
If I were going to use a filter, I might do a few cosmetic things, but I would never want to look like a 13 year old. I would try and look the way I looked when I was in my 30s.
