"Androgenic Reacts After Reports Of Clavicular Suspected Overdose."

A Newsweek headline. Can you even read it?

I know Clavicular is a person, and I've got to presume Androgenic is also a person. By their names alone, I would have guessed they were corporations or health-care products of some kind. But in the context — reacting, overdosing — I can see that they are human beings. Sad.

Clavicular is only 20, and he's gotten far too much attention for a young person. Yes, he's been asking for it, but don't give young people everything they ask for.

Sample paragraph from his Wikipedia page: "On December 27, 2025... [Clavicular] described Vice President JD Vance as 'subhuman' for his "recessed side profile' and for being 'obese,' asking, 'How are you fat and expected to lead a country?' He agreed with [a] criticism of California governor Gavin Newsom as both a 'degenerate' and a 'liar' but said that, in a potential 2028 United States presidential election in which Newsom ran against Vance, he would vote for 'Chad' Newsom for 'mogging,' or being more attractive than, Vance."

A select group of mice, which Calhoun called “the beautiful ones,” secluded themselves in protected places with a guard posted at the entry. They didn’t seek out mates or fight with other mice, wrote Will Wiles in Cabinet magazine in 2011, “they just ate, slept and groomed, wrapped in narcissistic introspection.”

I guess it could be worse. Remember the days of "heroin chic"? Heroin users had their rationale for their behavior, and I suppose this is what these people use for a rationale.

We are still the same species, aren't we? *skeptical look*

I also note that porn actors are better known by their stage names, much like like these two. They also have a rationale, and mostly share the same age cohort as these individuals. Looks are very important when you're 20. If you don't have it then, you probably won't get it later.

A clearly mentally ill person who’s never done anything of substance in his life gets a Wikipedia page AND a Newsweek headline?

What’s wrong with our culture in one simple sentence.

This reminds me of an old witticism: At 20 your face is a gift from God. At 50 you have the face you deserve.

I just finished a biograhy of Marlon Brando, and realized that Marlon, if he was 20 today, would be a "social influencer" and a Chad.

No man at 20 should need drugs to "stay thin". Guess the dude doesn't like exercise.

He has built up a huge social media following, is probably known by more than a hundred million people, and has generated in the millions in revenue all before turning 21. Like it or not that is an accomplishment.

Seriously, adults should not be spending their time discussing a thing calling himself 'Clavicular'.

No a good look, especially for a "Looksmaxxer."

What was my criticism? What was the actual word I used?

It's a well-known and documented fact that attractive people attract more votes. I see the quote from the OD'ed guy as being akin to "I'll vote for Obama cuz he's black" stuff we heard way back in the oughts.

Overdose of what? Hubris?

Friend of the blog...

The fanbase of the looksmaxxing influencer Clavicular (Braden Peters) is heavily intertwined with the "online Right" and young MAGA men, though the community's primary ideology is often described as nihilistic rather than traditionally partisan.

While Clavicular has not explicitly claimed a political majority, the following connections define his audience and public perception as of April 2026:
Audience Demographics and Political Leanings
Young MAGA Men: Major outlets like Yahoo Lifestyle have noted that young MAGA men are a significant segment of the looksmaxxing community, using his extreme methods to alter their bodies to match a specific "superior" aesthetic.
"Post-Political" Nihilism: Many fans are described as "black-pilled" or nihilistic, valuing physical status above character or traditional policy. Clavicular himself has labeled politics as "jestering"—a community term for a foolish waste of time.
Association with Far-Right Influencers: His popularity surged through collaborations with figures like Nick Fuentes, Andrew Tate, and Sneako, who have strong followings within MAGA and far-right

Looks like some sort of "homosexual surveillance" and “outing" is going to be the cause of this young man's attempted suicide.

The central messages of Clavicular are that looks matter in life, they matter significantly, and there are things you can do to improve your looks. These are all true. Clavicular got his fame and money by persuading millions of people, mostly young men, that these are true. The vast majority of these people's lives will be improved by hearing and internalizing these true statements. That is a substantive, to use your word, accomplishment. Our culture tends to teach young people something closer to just be yourself, people should like you for who you are, if they don't like you they are the problem not you. These are bad pieces advice. This is the type of mindset that leads to the Healthy-at-any-size folks. Can the Looksmaxxer's advice be taken too far, and descend into drug use to stay lean, bone-smashing, or narcissism? Sure. But the vast majority of people who hear the advice and do something with it will simply start going to the gym, eating better, or caring more about what they wear. This is a substantive accomplishment.

An overdose of Fabulous, darling.

And this purports to be a MAGA phenomenon, do I have that right? It seems to me to be more of a Progressive fever dream of what they think 'MAGA' is. Seen through the lens of any White House staffer in the Biden administration, maybe that young man with the nails.

"Black pilling" is nihilism, depression, and mental illness rather than a political ideology. Take the left-wing Atlantic as a left-wing smear publication. It has been this ever since contracting TDS.

Regarding mental illness, yes, there are some twisted right-wing guys. This includes the Latinos with Nazi white power tattoos, etc. Still, mental illness is vastly more common on the left-wing (especially among young lefty girls). Those who stick with family and tradition have families to help them and traditions to guide them.

As I get older I realize more and more how little people in their 20s know. They don't know anything. The only thing they know how to do is to look better than people in their 30s and 40s. So, the next 20 year-old you see, tell him to strike a pose and shut the fuck up.

As I get older, I realize how useless and ossified most old people become. Like fearful hollow shells of humanity whom fear approaching death and feast on the bitter jealousy of the young and vibrant.

Assuming that his followers are political would be a mistake (so would assuming that they weren't political). It would take time to sort out how seriously people who visit his site take his stuff. Many may just be looking for something amusing or diverting. They may be less political and less dogmatic than Atlantic readers, and certainly Atlantic writers.

Oh, Michael got it first and more correct.

Isn't this the dope that video'd himself in Florida, busting a magazine full of caps on an alligator, from a boat, at which point the Dept of Fish & Wildlife took a vocal and active interest? 'Looksmaxxing' might just be moving to a new venue, in 'supermax'.

Mike (MJB Wolf) said...

Thank you Mike and Fred. I had the same spark of thought.

If Swalwell had looksmaxxed and made himself irresistible to women maybe he'd still be in Congress. As it was, the 5 o'clock scruff and the Neanderthal facial features were his undoing. Not to mention the flatulence.
