@thatbassvoice This is the clip @bigbrevik was talking about... A lot of people still don’t understand that this conversation isn’t just about low notes... it’s about the depth of my modal voice and where it naturally lives. That distinction is why what he said sounds controversial to some... even though it’s exactly what people are hearing. Does the biology and mechanics behind the sound matter to you... or is it really just, “I like what I like”? Let's talk in the comments. #thatbassvoice #BigBrev #DeepVoice #DeepestVoice #BassSinger #modal #northsea #MusicDebate #TikTokMusic #oktavist ♬ original sound - Eric Hollaway

The octavist.
An octave below bass.

That may be the lowest voice I’ve ever heard—the guy marvelling at it has an extraordinarily deep voice. But I’m more impressed by his normal speaking voice. I mean, sure, he can go super low, but this is his starting point!
I believe there are some Tibetan one-L lamas who operate in that range.
The voice frequency isn't actually present as energy at that frequency. Energy is splattered all over the place, but the modulation frequency is what you detect as the tone. How fast it turns on and off, not what the frequency of what's being turned on and off.
It's a curious fact needing explanation still, to my mind, why modulation frequency (voice note) co-exists with pure tone frequency (where energy is in fact at the heard frequency).
I don't see how the famous hairs in the inner ear can deal with both and produce the same result.

That's a very impressive, genuine talent.
This gentleman is a contrabass, technically. An octave below that would be an octo-contrabass. He makes a beautiful sound.
The lead singer for Crash Test Dummies has a deep voice, probably the deepest I've ever heard.
Until just now. Not even close.
Interesting. A great gift, I guess, and a remarkable talent. But the sounds he produces with his amazing voice seem to my musically unschooled ears to have a pretty tenuous connection to melody.
Chills.
I knew rh would have something on this. Thanks.
The referenced track for 'Hoist the Colors' is here, with all the basses:

I’m really into the acapella group Home Free right now. I thought you might be linking to their bass Tim. The amazing thing is that he sometimes sings the tenor parts! His range is incredible!
Check out Home Free on YouTube. Especially the reaction videos.
I agree with Jersey. Home Free is the most talented acapella group that I have heard
