The first two are fabulous!!

#1 is superb.
I listened tonight to CNN for about 5 minutes. The guest was so personal and oppositional to Trump.
The constant and common refrain from the Dems and Fake News is that there is no mission or Trump is constantly changing the mission. That’s completely false.
When we win this war before April 1, 2026, I want to see this people excoriated by name. They need to pay a price. The best result would be GOP continued control of Congress.
All great, but #1 and #3 are the greatest.
I finally watched the Melania movie, because it’s free on Amazon Prime. It’s basically one of those “Behind the Scenes at Buckingham Palace, or Claridges, or Macy’s,” etc shows you see on PBS, with the twist that Melania herself is narrating it. Lots of time with her glam squad. This should put to rest any idea that the Trumps are anti-gay. Also an interesting soundtrack - mostly 80s pop and Eurodisco, with some classical warhorses during the actual Inauguration. Including Ravel’s Bolero - maybe “10” wasn’t available in Slovenia, or maybe she likes sending the subliminal message that 1/20/25 was the day they fucked the fuckers? I also noticed during the actual swearing in that Biden guided Tiffany in closer so she could see it better. Not in any weird hair sniffing way - really seemed to be a dad understanding this is another dad’s big family moment.
Overall the film, if made by/for any other FLOTUS, would be a completely wholesome and kind of forgettable miniseries for PBS. Or maybe Bravo. CC, JSM

Oil prices fell Monday in extended trading after President Donald Trump said he was considering seizing control of the Strait of Hormuz, the most important chokepoint in world for the crude market.
U.S. crude oil was down to $85.27 per barrel at 3:37 p.m. ET. Global benchmark Brent traded 4.6% lower at $88.43 per barrel.
Should Iran choose Khamenei junior, he can choose to be a Gorbachov, or just another Kim Jong Un.

I served 21 years in the Navy, retiring from AD in 1994. My youngest just finished his 4 year Army AD obligation in MI and entered the reserves as a Captain. Son #3 was found NPQ before finishing ROTC. Son #2 (and wife) 4 years Army enlisted as Signals Intelligence Interceptor (Linguist), and son #1 >20 years Army combined AD and reserve, retiring soon as a Major. None of us have any veteran or AD friends against our current expedition in Iran. Among my acquaintances, the felling is it's about f......g time! We were around when the war started in 1979.
Remember that- the HOT war was STARTED in 1979. Not 10 days ago- 1979. And it's been hot ever since, mostly on the islamist side. And just because we haven't declared was doesn't mean we're not at war. A nation is at was when it's attacked- which occurred in, wait for it----1979. No peace treaty or truce was ever signed after that. So without declaring war we have, legally, under every iteration of international law ever, been at war with Iran since 1979.
Go ahead. Try and locate any treaty or declaration by multiple nations at any time anywhere that says otherwise. You won't be able to do it.

It didn’t occur to you that oil prices dropped and the market stabilized because Trump said “I think the war is very complete, pretty much”. Right after he said that the market recovered and oil prices dropped. So Trump once again panicked (TACO)because the market was crashing and he then manipulated the market with a lie. Let’s wait and see what oil prices and the market does when oil isn’t getting through the Strait of Hormuz and anyone who tries to get through gets blown to smithereens.

The whole question of whether the President, as commander in chief, has the privilege of saluting, remains unsettled. It seems like it is becoming customary, from way before Trump.
Further complicating the issue is the hat, or cover. The sea services have a tradition of never saluting uncovered. This would support saluting with the hat on. The Army, and I presume the Air and Space Forces as the Army's descendants, frequently salute uncovered, such as when reporting in a senior's office. This would militate (sorry) for taking the hat off as respect for the dead, I guess holding it in the left hand, while saluting with the right.
Even further complicating the issue is recent legislation extending the privilege of saluting to veterans, who frequently wear hats at events. I see guys at different events I attend saluting the flag with their "VIETNAM VETERAN" or whatever caps firmly on. Trump, even though he is the CINC and has been wounded for his country, is not a veteran, so the rule and practice do not directly apply. But they are persuasive authority.
So there's a complex military-nerd controversy here. There still would be even if the POTUS in question were Eisenhower or GHW Bush. But of course eeevil Trump inflames it. CC, JSM
Lem, further on the Georgia run-over teacher - one piece I read stated the teacher knew about the prank ahead of time and was excited about it. And the kid who ran him over was one of his favorite students. It seems the teacher ran out there just to add to the fun of the prank by exaggerated reactions, but slipped on the wet pavement. And the inexperienced kid, probably peeling out for the first time in his life, couldn't stop or swerve.
From a civil perspective, it looks like contributory negligence.
From a criminal perspective, it looks like the decedent's wife is willing to be a defense witness, if the case goes that far.
With this and the Arkansan who shot the chomo and is now running for sheriff, it looks like the people of the South are insisting that common sense still belongs in government. CC, JSM
My tiny urban independent school had a Major Scandal in the class ahead of me when the seniors decided to take the headmaster's bicycle, paint it pink, and hang it over the main staircase into the school. Yes, this was when you could still use the word 'master' in educational settings, and when pink was seen as an insulting color for men.
There were serious discussions about handing the kids over to the police. I really doubt the early 80s Chicago Police and Cook County State's Attorney would have given a rat's ass about a fifty-dollar bike being repainted by rich kids who could easily buy the headmaster ten brand new bikes in compensation. Nonetheless, the incident required an all-school assembly where the headmaster brought a rocking chair onstage, dressed in a flannel robe and nightcap, and told us an edifying allegorical story.
Even that school wouldn't have sought charges if the kids had run over the headmaster instead. CC, JSM
