The ice — other than the ice shove — is gone. I like the ice. I think it tends to make better pictures. There's more texture and variation in the reflectivity. We're getting lots of warnings about a big winter storm. I think that's overblown. They're always out to scare us about the weather. I'm betting that it will be mostly rain and then less than 10" of snow — but we shall see.

Write about whatever you want in the comments.

The president publicly acknowledged Russia is helping Iran target U.S. troops, and then moved to ease Russian oil sanctions anyway.
This wasn’t because it “makes sense” strategically; it was done to deal with skyrocketing global oil prices caused by the U.S.–Israel war on Iran, not because Russia deserved relief. But the side effect is exactly that Russia gets more money while still helping Iran and fighting Ukraine.WTF this guy knows that Iran is helping put our valiant troops in jeopardy and whats the solution? Release the oil sanctions on Russia so Russia can make 150 million a day selling their oil on the market. No wonder the talk with VLAD was a good one. So now VLAD can contiue giving locations and infoto IRAN to help kill Americans, the US president thinks thats ok enough to relese sanctions that were put in place to enable Ukraine to get some kind of deal going(because the nitwit team ceetainly couldnt) So yes as I said couple days ago VLAD-WINNER US MILITARY total losers who ave to die for this nonsense and being receiprients of Russian $$$ telling their secrets to IRAN WTF and no one says diddly!! I was reading about a few of the guitars auctioned by Christie’s from Isray’s impressive collection. Gilmour’s black Stratocaster sold for $14.5M, the priciest of the bunch. Seems crazy high to me, considering three Beatles guitars sold for much less.

John’s ‘63 Gretsch 6120 ‘Chet Atkins’ - used on ‘Rain’ and ‘Paperback Writer’ - and his ‘64 Rickenbacker 325 went for $1.3M each. George’s ‘64 Gibson SG ‘Standard’ did a little better at $2.3M. And Clapton’s psychedelic SG known as ‘The Fool’ - a famous instrument - brought in $3.0M.

It’s possible that one of the latter two guitars was used by Eric on the ‘Gently Weeps’ lead solo and fills, although studio photos of the session show an SG in its factory cherry stain, but maybe it was painted sometime after.

And now it’s time to play that solo!! On my Gretsch, though. lol

Trump will get more and more unhinged as the gas price keeps climbing. Trump saying he can keep fighting forever makes me think he's got severely limited supplies. It's a weird thing to say.

The politician who campaigned on ending forever wars is now, barely a year later, saying he will fight forever in a Middle Eastern war he started.

They will write many textbooks on how the Trump administration was completely out-manuvered by Iran because of their sheer arrogance and hubris.

2. The MAHA PAC, a Robert F. It actually screws things up when I send manual commands. Things go better when I have them following the autonomous protocols.

The app also displays the current task queues and it shows the progress on the validation harness.

Read this, this morning, had to post.

"I don't know about this," Dortmunder said. "I don't know about those knees, to begin with."

"You brought those knees in with you, John," Kelp reminded him. "Look at the clothes."

It was very hard to look at the clothes, with those knees glowering back at him from the discount-store mirror, like sullen twin hobos pulled in on a bum rap. On the other hand, with these clothes, it was very hard to look at the clothes anyway.

This was the end result of Dortmunder's having told Kelp, how everybody in this town seemed to gaze upon him with immediate suspicion.

(Two paragraphs about how Dortmunder had to dress like everybody in Vegas to avoid suspicion. And then...)

The pants, to begin with, weren't pants, they were shorts. Shorts. Who over the age of six wears shorts? What person, that is, of Dortmunder's dignity, over the age of six, wears shorts? Big baggy tan shorts with pleats. Shorts with pleats, so that he looked like he was wearing brown paper bags from the supermarket above his knees, with his own sensible black socks below the knees, but the socks and their accompanying feet were then stuck into sandals. Sandals? Dark brown sandals? Big clumpy sandals, with his own black socks, plus those knees, plus those shorts? Is this a way to dress?

They're always out to scare us about the weather.

1. That's a basic m.o. for the news media ("Make it scary!"), because they're always trying to keep their audience. If they can't find some scary crime in your neighborhood, they will go to New York or Chicago or London or New Zealand. Whatever it takes to find scary news somewhere. That's why so many people believe the world is getting worse, when it's actually getting happier and more peaceful.

2. I don't know if Jesus is mocking the media when he says that he has "good news," but he might be. If you want optimism, go to church!

3. It used to be that the newspaper was divided into Politics and Sports and Weather. But leftism is so poisonous, they have to take over everything. Sports is politicized (watch ESPN sometime) and Weather is really politicized. Climate change is the new Satan. And every weather report is "Satan is about to get us."

Westlake has another series about a sociopath (Parker) which he writes under the name Richard Stark.
The challenge of writing about a sociopath is that readers still want someone they can like or relate to. That’s why Parker, in Richard Stark’s novels, tends to kill only “bad guys,” has a love interest, and stays short of true sociopathy.
It’s a good series overall - Westlake was a master storyteller - but the one I always recommend is Ask a Parrot. The plot is excellent and in this book, the people who cross Parker’s path survive only because killing them would be more trouble than it’s worth. When someone gets in his way, lethal force is never off the table - it’s simply a matter of practicality.

So, um, we’ve completely destroyed, 100% to my understanding, Iran’s entire military. And unless the fake news is editing Trump’s own words or hacking X, there’s really nothing left to bomb. But we’re going to continue to “bomb the hell out of them” anyway because, well, your guess is as good as mine. Maybe there’s a school kid or two still running around?

But of course, war (which seems to have been redefined) is always hell and collateral damage is just a reality when we’re defending ourselves from nuclear weapons which we previously completely obliterated. Or, pick one of the other dozen and a half rationales.

Which leads us to Trump now calling on France, Japan, South Korea, UK and others to send ships to help open Hormuz seized by an enemy that has been completely defeated. These not only happen to be the same allies Trump has demonized and imposed tariffs on but also told them we don’t need help on wars we’ve already one.

But rest assured there’s strategic master endgame plan in the mind numbing shit show. We just have to wait for Trump to “feel it in his bones”.

Eva Marie said...

This is my favorite passage from The Ax. I think of it every time I see the word Clearance in an ad:
Until the late eighteenth century, the [Scottish] Highlands were populated mainly by tenant farmers, poor families in little stone huts eking out a small living from the soil and paying a small rent to the landlord. Then the landlord—or whoever acted as the landlord’s accountant, in those days—discovered there was more money to be made if the human beings on all that land were replaced by sheep. So, for the next seventy years, more or less, there was in the Highlands what came to be called the Clearances, in which families, clans, villages, everything was cleared from the land, which was then given to the sheep. The tenant farmers had lived there for generations, built the houses and barns and corrals, worked the soil; but it wasn’t theirs. No one had lived on it but them, but it wasn’t theirs, so what were they to do? They left, not willingly. Some went to Ireland, some went to North America, some went to hell. Some died of cold or starvation. Some resisted, and were given the chop right there, on their own land. Well, no; not their own land . . . I looked up the word in the Oxford English Dictionary, the big one. I so loved the definition that I never forgot it, and after I got the chop, during one of my days of legitimate library research, I looked it up again, to be sure I had the phrasing exactly right. I wrote it on this 3x5 card and put it up on the wall here, in front of me. “Clearance 2. spec. The clearing (of land) by the removal of wood, old houses, inhabitants, etc.” You’ll never see a clearer proof that history is written by the winners. Just think; one comma less, and the inhabitants would have fallen into the etc.

This Trump Truth post is a work of art and needs to be kept for posterity. It turns out that the US has destroyed 100% of Iran’s military capability. Yet, to combat a military with no capability he is left pleading with allies he has regularly insulted to save him in the Gulf.

"Many Countries, especially those who are affected by Iran’s attempted closure of the Hormuz Strait, will be sending War Ships, in conjunction with the United States of America, to keep the Strait open and safe. We have already destroyed 100% of Iran’s Military capability, but it’s easy for them to send a drone or two, drop a mine, or deliver a close range missile somewhere along, or in, this Waterway, no matter how badly defeated they are. Hopefully China, France, Japan, South Korea, the UK, and others, that are affected by this artificial constraint, will send Ships to the area so that the Hormuz Strait will no longer be a threat by a Nation that has been totally decapitated. In the meantime, the United States will be bombing the hell out of the shoreline, and continually shooting Iranian Boats and Ships out of the water. One way or the other, we will soon get the Hormuz Strait OPEN, SAFE, and FREE!" President DONALD J. TRUMP

The UK has the most advanced minesweepers. They use the Seafox mine clearing robot. But Trump won't be asking for their help: “We don’t need them any longer… we don’t need people that join wars after we’ve already won.” I would love to be a fly on the wall when Trump calls Starmer.

Hundreds of TSA agents are resigning due to the ongoing partial government shutdown that began on February 14, 2026. As of March 15, 2026, over 300 TSA officers have officially quit since the start of the funding lapse.
TSA officers are considered "essential" and must report to work despite missing full paychecks. Many employees are struggling to cover basic expenses like rent and gas.
Unscheduled "call-outs" among security officers have more than doubled in recent weeks as staff take on second jobs or face financial hardship.
Officials warn that repeated shutdowns make federal security roles less attractive, which could cripple recruitment efforts for months.
The staffing shortages have led to severe disruptions at major airports:
Security lines have stretched to nearly three hours at several major hubs.
Many airports and the TSA are now advising travelers to arrive four to six hours early for international flights.
At New Orleans International Airport, lines have been reported spilling out into the parking garage.
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and local communities have attempted to support the workforce:
Some airports, like those in Denver and Seattle, have asked the public to donate food, hygiene items, and gas gift cards to help struggling agents.
In late 2025, a $10,000 bonus was announced for select agents with exemplary service during previous funding gaps, but current employees are still facing immediate pay issues.
Funding remains stalled in Congress as lawmakers debate immigration enforcement policies related
TSA absences double during shutdown, 300 officers quit, as some airports see longer security lines
Mar 10, 2026 — TSA has lost more than 300 employees since shutdown began. The shutdown has also accelerated departures from the workforce.
Travelers pay airport security fees, while TSA is not paid -
Mar 13, 2026 — More than 100,000 DHS workers will miss their first full paycheck Friday.
Hundreds of TSA Agents Have Quit Amid Hours-Long
WHO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR GOVERNMENT SHUTDOW
As of March 15, 2026, the responsibility for the ongoing partial government shutdown is a matter of intense political debate between Senate Democrats and Congressional Republicans.
The shutdown, which began on February 14, 2026, specifically affects the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and is driven by a standoff over immigration enforcement reforms:
Senate Democrats have withheld support for the DHS funding bill (H.R. 7147), demanding reforms to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) tactics following the fatal shootings of two U.S. citizens in Minnesota by federal agents in January. Their demands include mandatory body cameras and warrant requirements for home searches.
Congressional Republicans, who hold a "trifecta" (control of the House, Senate, and Presidency), argue they have twice passed full-year funding for DHS and blame Democrats for "hijacking" the process for political leverage.
The House of Representatives passed a DHS appropriations act (H.R. 7744) to fully fund the department, but it has not advanced in the Senate.
The Senate has failed multiple "cloture" votes—most recently on March 12—to advance funding measures, as they have been unable to reach the required 60-vote threshold.

Addressing the issue of the strait, Hegseth disparaged reporting that the US had not been prepared for Iran’s effective closure of shipping route. “The only thing prohibiting transit in [Hormuz] right now is Iran shooting at shipping,” Hegseth said. “It is open for transit should Iran not do that.” ~ FT

Okay then... So everything is fine -- it's the normal voyage apart from getting blown up.

One has to admire Hegseth's analytical powers. No wonder Trump welcomed an equal genius into his team.

How does Trump demand anything from countries he’s shat upon for the last year?
