Brigadier General Esmail Qaani – leader of Iran’s elite Quds Force – miraculously escaped the bombing attack which killed Ayatollah Khamenei a week ago. Apparently it was decided by someone that he had been just a wee bit too lucky, as rumors are now circulating tgst he has been hanged as an agent of Mossad.
RIP General Qaani. Sometimes when your time has come, it has come.
For anyone who is interested there is a new concept called a 2nd brain.
With new agentic tools you can create text files and relational databases that can expand the use of agents. You can use this tool to create context for your work and improve the effectiveness of your prompts.
The internet is being forked into 2 versions. One is for humans and one is for agents. Web pages are being written to be specifically accessible to ML agents. Fewer people are using google to find things on the internet. Increasingly they are asking Grok or Gemini and they read the given summary rather than the web page. So now there are web pages that are not meant to be viewed by humans but rather consumed by agents and delivered.
A similar thing is being done with stored context and the creation of second brains.
I would recommend getting started with Obsidian. It is a tool for creating a linked library of Markdown files. Markdown is one of the preferred file formats for ML agents.
Maybe Esmail Qaani is dead, maybe he isn't. https://x.com/DrEliDavid/status/2030005191387292017 If he's in Iran and not dead yet, this could seal his fate... or maybe this posting is real.
I read that the Iranian national women’s soccer team refused to sing their national anthem during an international tournament. Apparently they were shown the error of their ways because they did sing before the next game.
If they don’t ask for asylum I imagine Iran will have an all new national women’s soccer team before the next tournament.
Apparently China has stopped their daily Air Force exercises. Maybe it’s because they are short of fuel. It’s also possible they are doing a maintenance stand down preparatory to an attack. That’s often the way it works.
In one sense this might be the perfect time for the PRC to attack while we are busy elsewhere. I doubt we can execute two major campaigns at once.
Why would Iran give up its best leverage when to surrender it means that the leadership of the country will all end up being killed?
Now things are being canceled at Ft. Bragg, which often means a deployment is coming, and blood donations are being requested in our base in Germany that handled casualties from Iraq.
Probably Trump believes that this is the only realistic chance he has to re-open the Strait, because the Iranians practically begged him to send in US Navy ships to escort the tankers, to be sunk by missiles launched from caves in the mountains.
This was all predictable. It's like the joke about the guy who bets he could drink from a spittoon, and when he starts, the guy who bet him says "Stop! Stop! I will pay the bet! Just stop!" but the other guy keeps drinking until it's gone, and the first guy asks him why he did it, and he says "It was all one string."

I am not a person of prayer, but pray for America.
Many distinguished commentators here have remarked on our lack of an endgame. Some of these criticisms may be justified. But here's what I'd like to know from them: what is Iran's plan for the endgame. Will America become so upset over higher gasoline prices that they rise up and overthrow Trump. I don't think that's going to happen. He going to keep bombing things, and many innocent people will die.......Iran may end up like Iraq, Libya, Syria and all those other countries. Isn't there someone in that country who has a plan for a better way.....My feeling is that when you're sharing an enclosure with an eight hundred pound gorilla, it would be best to learn grooming techniques as opposed to MMA moves.
God forbid that Iran inflicts something worse than a pin prick. This whole mess started with 9/11. That was their big success, but what was their follow up. They also had another success on 10/7, but Round II didn't go well for Hamas.......It's possible that Iran could get lucky and hit a substantial target in Saudi Arabia. I think the Saudis would then play by Mid-East rules and start bombing reservoirs, power plants, maybe even apartment buildings in Iran.......This may not turn out how Trump wants, but there is no way that Iran comes out this a winner.
It's not possible to describe in words how hard it is to accurately throw a baseball in the oposite direction, away from the momentum of your entire body. And then, as if just to make sure someone might be thinking 'fluke', the player makes the play again, on an even higher level of difficulty. The ball was hit harder and closer to third, the second time.
Preliminary findings from U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) suggest a U.S. munition was used in the attack... on the Iranian girls school co-located on a naval base operated by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
Yes, Russia has significantly intensified missile and drone attacks on Kyiv and across Ukraine in early 2026, coinciding with the conflict between the US/Israel and Iran. Recent barrages, including over 180 drones in a single night in March 2026, aim to exploit depleted Western air defenses.
China, on the other hand, seems to be backing off:
As of March 2026, Chinese military activity around Taiwan and Japan has remained high but experienced a notable, potentially temporary, dip in aerial incursions during late February and early March 2026. Despite this brief pause, overall 2025-2026 trends show a long-term escalation in air and naval pressure, with Beijing consistently operating near Japan's Okinawa islands.
I teach at a very progressive school. This week has been remarkable in that not only has there been none of the usual organizing, postering, announcements of teach-ins, etc. but NO ONE has mentioned Iran in class; not even to virtue signal about the U.S. bombing "brown" people.* The sum total of Iran discussion was two students talking outside my office door. One said "It's crazy that we're in a war with Iran now," and the other replied "I'm not following it." Typical GenZ pithy response. I'm wondering if we have finally reached complete saturation of hair-on-fire, end-of-the-world media-driven freak-outs. After years of one spastic screech-fest after another,** the only people paying any attention are the always on-line politics-obsessives. Normies have just tuned out. Perhaps this phenomenon also explains why people on Twitter--and even a few in the comments section of the normally far saner Althouse blog)--have so rapidly worked themselves into a frothy manic frenzy: There's a lot less attention to go around, so people have to spaz faster and faster if they want to capture any of it.
*That the people of a country whose name means "Home of the Aryans" are now being classified as "non-white" for political convenience would be hysterical if it weren't so pathetic.
**Remember when some nonsense about a ballroom was the worst thing that ever happened? Good times, man. Good times.
At the end of the day, the world will be transformed if and only if the Iranian people get control of their own government. They can do more than any other group to bring peace to the Middle East. They've seen the dream and seen it shooting them down. They'll be real. We're just clearing obstacles from their pathway.
“Brigadier General Esmail Qaani – leader of Iran’s elite Quds Force – miraculously escaped the bombing attack which killed Ayatollah Khamenei a week ago. More recently, yes, he was Mossad. But with their help, he escaped.
"The urgency is real. Israeli defense planners had tracked how Chinese components, machine tools, and technical guidance were accelerating Iranian production lines, and their projections pointed toward catastrophe: 5,000 missiles by 2027, potentially 10,000 by the end of the decade. Every warhead carried a Chinese fingerprint, from solid-fuel propellant chemistry to the precision guidance systems that turned inaccurate rockets into weapons capable of striking downtown Abu Dhabi." … "During the twelve-day war in 2025, the United States burned through roughly 150 THAAD interceptors, munitions that take years to produce and that feed the same queue supporting Pacific deterrence.
Only a few dozen replacements followed. Iran was rebuilding faster than America could reload. Left unchecked, the math led to a devastating fork: accept Iranian nuclear breakout behind a missile shield too thick to penetrate, or fight a war in the Middle East with stockpiles earmarked for the Taiwan Strait. Beijing had engineered precisely this dilemma. Operation Epic Fury represented the decision to prevent that choice from ever arriving. By destroying the missiles, the United States turned years of Chinese strategic investment and billions in transferred technology to ash."
Clever strategy by China. Fortunately, we no longer have a turnip as President.
The gentlemen from the other firm have argued that intercepting cheap missiles with expensive missiles is a losing proposition. They have a point. The winning answer is to destroy them, their launchers, and their production facilities on the ground.
There is a lot of extremely new tech in use in this Iran war. One is the Starshield satellite constellation. The last of that was only launched by SpaceX last July, a total of 200 LEO satellites. Trump is not going to re-open the Strait with the 82 Airborne, but I have a sick feeling that he is going to try, because he has no other conceivable way out of this trap that Israel sprung on him, and us, and in theory, if we could just conquer Iran with land forces, we could make it safe for shipping, but like Switzerland, Iran is a very mountainous country, and there is a reason that Switzerland kept its freedom for so long in a continent where armies have been marching hither and yon for millennia.
I was thinking about presidential greatness and wondered if there might not be an objective test that could be applied. I came up with two criteria: the world must look completely different after their terms in a way that it could never return to the way it used to be; and that the president, or his party, serves more than two terms.
Applying these ideas to the last 125 years, I come up with two presidents who meet the standard, FDR and Reagan. After WWII the international scene would never be the same and after Reagan, eastern Europe would never again be communist.
What about Trump? Obviously the jury is out. But if he gets a republican successor elected and the war in Iran is a success, could he be considered by History as great? If Iran becomes a peaceful nation that gets on with its neighbors, if its terror proxies are dismantled? If the was in Europe is resolved? I don't know.
Can anyone else think of objective measures of presidential greatness? I don't think I hate him and he makes me want to wee-wee in my pants counts.

Deep down, this silver-tongued bastard knows his “fundamental transformation” was a Trojan horse of grievance politics and radical infiltration; now, stripped of the Oval Office spotlight in Trump’s America, his fragile ego demands he resurrect the corpse of his relevance by desecrating Jackson’s legacy.
The Rainbow Coalition was about bridging divides; Obama turns it into a partisan kill zone, profiling everyday Americans as the new Klan because that’s the only narrative sustaining his delusional savior complex.
Profoundly, it’s the same venom he’s dripped for decades...charming the masses while eroding the republic from within, a terrorist-adjacent ideologue whose silver tongue masks the terrorist-adjacent ideology of perpetual victimhood and power consolidation.
He doesn’t mourn Jackson; he exploits him, because hope dies in the America that rejected his cult.
Your time is fucking over, Hussain.
Crawl back into whatever shadow you’ve been nursing that inflated self-image in, and let the dead bury their dead without your toxic resurrection act.
The American spirit sees the manipulation now...your psychological games, your lethal rhetoric, your entire facade of profundity.
Shut.
The.
Holy.
Fuck.
Up.

I feel so bad for Jesse’s family. They didn’t deserve this. They didn’t want the divisiveness. They wanted to honor their Dad with a peaceful ceremony. Obama should apologize but he won’t 💔

Jesse Jackson told his family he wanted one simple thing at his funeral: leave politics out of it and come together in respect.

The law that created this "slush fund" for the Congressional sexual perverts was signed into law by...wait for it... then President Bill Clinton January 23rd, 1995. Surprised?
Here's what might surprise you, it was sponsored by Senator Chuck Grassley, co-sponsored by Bob Dole, Fred Thompson, Joseph Lieberman and John McCain among others.

Imagine sexual perverts being allowed to vote on whether or not their sexual perversion is made public while they use your money to quiet the victims.
Welcome to the Congress of the United States.

“I saw a tweet this morning that said Esmail Qaani, the head of Iran’s Quds Force, had been shot by the IRGC because he was discovered to be an Israeli spy. Astonishing news. But now, an even more stunning revelation: Qaani was indeed a Mossad agent, but he was not shot. He is safe in Israel” (via Power Line)
He turned his pager in years ago.
Gas prices have a ways to go still, look at what happened in 2022, when nothing nearly this serious happened to our oil supplies.

Gotta give it to Joe Biden.
He is the only US President to ever to give a eulogy to both a KKK Grand Wizard and to a Civil Rights leader.

Just as when the Berlin Wall came down, we didn't know what would come next.
The break-up of the former Yugoslavia was very ugly ...and I'll be damned if Clinton didn't get congressional approval to bomb the Baltics. How DARE he?!!!!!
But look at it now. My better half is doing a Croatia trip with grade-school friends this summer.
As I've said, this is the biggest geopolitical event since the fall of The Wall.
I can't read the minds of the leaders of the gulf nations, but I get the distinct impression they are/were pretty much fed up with Iran's shit.
Right now, we're taking out the trash. What comes next? We'll see.
I'll be damned if Clinton didn't get congressional approval to bomb the Baltics.
That would be the Balkans.
(sigh. it's late)
It's all going to plan, ahead of schedule in fact, we are sending another carrier just to get in on the turkey shoot!
There are two outcomes here, either we send Iran back to the Stone Age, "to protect the protesters" or we get kicked out of the Middle East.
Donnie and his religious cult have pushed all of the US's chips onto the table in a reckless gamble that he said would just take a couple of days.

China recently sold Iran 50 hypersonic anti-ship missiles. Iran used all of them. Not one of them hit its intended target. They didn't miss. They just never got there. Not one. China needs to reassess its supply chain.
As noted by John Hinderaker at Powerline regarding the head of the Quds Force being a Mossad agent
For the head of the Quds force to be an Israeli agent would be like Heinrich Himmler turning out to be a spy for the British, or like–as was actually the case–the head of British counterintelligence being a Russian spy. Or, perhaps, like the head of the CIA being someone who voted for the Communist Party candidate for President of the United States.
Last night Firing Line reran a 2022 interview of Masih Alinejad, emigree Persian woman's-lib activist. During the week Morning Joe had some Iranian guerrilla filmmakers on. The MSM are really having problems navigating the line between 'the mullah regime is total shit' and 'Trump is total shit.' CC, JSM
I guess their ideal outcome is 'Trump is such total shit he can't even defeat this total-shit mullah regime.' CC, JSM

Trump isn't trying to bomb the Iranians into the Stone Age, he's trying to bomb them into the modern world.
And he's going after the archer, not the arrows.

Why are Trump and Hegseth so nonchalant about Russia providing Intel to Iran to help target American forces?
“Why are Trump and Hegseth so nonchalant about Russia providing Intel to Iran to help target American forces?“
