Why hasn't AI gone through all the Epstein files and organized the info into something enlightening?

I'm wondering.

I see that The Economist used AI to analyze the Epstein files, and we got "Inside Epstein's Network/What 1.4m emails reveal about America’s most notorious sex offender":

[A] group of software engineers has turned the PDFs into a format that is easier to analyse. Using Reducto, an AI tool, they have identified which files contained emails; extracted the listed senders, recipients, dates, subjects and message bodies; and posted them on a website called Jmail.world. In total, the group processed 1.4m emails, finishing its work on February 11th. The Economist has collaborated with it to assign each message to unique individuals regardless of spellings or email addresses, and researched the backgrounds of the 500 people who appear most often. We then used a large language model (LLM) to score each email chain on how disturbing its content would be to a typical reader, creating an “alarm index.”...  [M]ost often the emails our LLM flagged were with young women or little-known accomplices. This pattern may be because it failed to spot incriminating messages sent to prominent contacts or because redactions are protecting people. Epstein was also careful. When discussing women with Steve Tisch, owner of an NFL team, whom Epstein calls “a new...shared interest friend”, Epstein requests a phone call because “I dont like records of these conversations.”...

So maybe AI is doing the best it can with what's in those emails, and we're never going to get much more than lists of names of who emailed whom and how many times. But I suspect that we're hearing hard facts like that because more subjective interpretations, accusing people of crimes, would invite defamation lawsuits.

Everyone remembers how Hulk Hogan took down Gawker. That was a lawsuit funded by Peter Thiel... who's in the Epstein files... many times. We can search for his name and count. But is any mainstream publication accusing him of crimes? No. But I think they could be developing material on him and others and holding it back. Defamation law is a deterrent. And isn't that a good thing?

We already knew from simple common sense that a vast majority of the people who came in contact with Epstein had no real connection with Epstein. We also already knew that most people who had real dealings with Epstein did nothing wrong. Even most people who went to "Pedophile Island" were acting completely innocently.

We can be pretty sure there was some wrongdoing by some people, but the media frenzy that initially greeted the release by smearing every person whose name appeared is gross and there should be consequences for the people and organizations who did this.

But there won't be.

Ask LLM to summarize and simplify the universe. It would be scarcely less unfathomable and unwieldy than the universe itself. The more one condenses and the pithier the result the more the important details are lost. Also, AI lawyers would have plenty of work vetting the results so that the (presumably) innocent aren't incriminated with the guilty.

But I suspect that we're hearing hard facts like that because more subjective interpretations, accusing people of crimes, would invite defamation lawsuits

Here's a thought: start with the assumption that the police who had these files were competent enough to spot any evidence that would actually let them honestly go after someone for sex crimes if said evidence was actually there, and that, given the number of different Admins that had this evidence, there's no one who was "politically protected" from every single investigator.

What that leaves us with is that the release isn't going to produce any significant evidence of criminal action. At least not by anyone subject to American jurisprudence

It IS producing evidence of "scummy" actions. But those seem to be mostly on the Left.

Why?

Well, the MSM do their best to give a pass to people on the Left who do scummy things. So the answer is two fold:
1: Scum are more likely to move to the Left so they can get away with it
2: Scum on the Right have long since been caught

Enigma చెప్పారు...

@Greg the Class Traitor:

Bannon has consistently maintained that his interactions with Epstein were strictly professional and conducted through the lens of a documentary filmmaker.

The New York Times

Bannon’s Core Explanations
The Documentary Defense: Bannon stated that his goal was to secure "50 hours of interviews from a reclusive subject" for a film that would "fully expose" Epstein and "destroy the very myths he created".
Response to "Chummy" Texts: Regarding newly revealed texts where Bannon called Epstein "God" or offered to "rebuild [his] image," Bannon claims he was merely "cajoling" Epstein to keep him participating in the documentary project.
Media Training vs. Filming: While reports from journalists like Michael Wolff described the sessions as "media training" to help Epstein prepare for a 60 Minutes interview, Bannon denies this and insists the footage was always intended for his own exposé.

Current Status of the Interviews
Release of Footage: Portions of the interviews were released in early February 2026 as part of the DOJ files. These clips show Bannon and Epstein discussing Newtonian physics, the 2008 financial crisis, and whether Epstein's money was "dirty".
Upcoming Film: A spokesperson for Bannon stated in February 2026 that the documentary—now six years in the making—is slated for release later this year.
Delay Reasons: Bannon's camp attributed the long delay in releasing the project to his various legal troubles, including his 2024 prison sentence for contempt of Congress.

I never believed that these files could ever provide sufficient evidence to convict anyone for sex crimes, but it does seem that there's enough info to alert investigators to financial crimes, which can be confirmed through independent information.
(The problem with the sex-crimes allegations is that there is no way to prove them without physical evidence, since no one is confessing to rape over email. Even Bill Gates and Larry Summers aren't THAT stupid).
