"'We are officially terminating the so-called "endangerment finding," a disastrous Obama-era policy,' he said. Mr. Trump called it a 'radical rule' that became 'the basis for the Green New Scam,' a label the president gives to any effort to curb emissions or develop renewable energy. Mr. Zeldin called it 'the single largest deregulatory action in the history of the United States.' He accused Democrats of having launched an 'ideological crusade' on climate change that 'strangled entire sectors of the United States economy,' particularly the auto industry...."
I'm reading "Trump Administration Erases the Government’s Power to Fight Climate Change/The Environmental Protection Agency repealed the bedrock scientific finding that greenhouse gases threaten human life and well being. It means the agency can no longer regulate them" (NYT).

It’s a good start. The experts in government have their greedy paws everywhere in our lives.
Make America green, not Green, Again.
Obama's "burden" has been aborted, for now. Here's to a green and viable future.
I fucking love science.
Also very good news for the Sierra Club. Funding will skyrocket.
"Trump Administration Erases the Government’s Power to Fight Climate Change"
Bullshit on stilts. All the government needs to "fight climate change" is for Congress to pass a law.
We all dead now, just a matter of time.F'n Trump! No doubt his family somehow benefitting financially, right?
The next ice age will be blamed on global warming.
catastrophic anthropogenic political climate change
"This is a big fucking deal."
The "bedrock scientific finding" was never a scientific finding, it was political from the beginning.
I’m thrilled.
Don't These FOOLS know what this will cause?
I GUARANTEE, that within 3 months.. temperatures will be at LEAST 30 degrees Hotter than now.. ALL BECAUSE OF THIS FOLLY!
Not Only THAT! because of Climate Instability CAUSED BY THIS INSANITY;
within the next year, Temperatures will fluctuate SO WILDLY,
that at times, ENTIRE LAKES will solidify!!!
THIS IS MADNESS! This is WHAT those maniac are CAUSING US!
Why did Trump not do this in his first term? It is so obvious.
Trump's first EPA head was Scott Pruitt, who was lawfared out of office. His successor, Andrew Wheeler, stuck to small incremental changes and managed not to get targeted. Zeldin has more of the MAGA kamikaze mentality - they're going to jail or kill us anyway, so might as well go for broke. CC, JSM
It's a shame that this didn't happen during Trump 1, but it's great that it's finally happening.
There is NO science behind the Anthropogenic Global Warming delusion. None. Zip. Zilch. Nada
The Post 1996 18 year global warming hiatus was outside the 95% confidence interval of all the IPPC's predictions.
If you can't make testable predictions that come true, what you're doing is religion, or story telling, not science.
And that's all that AGW / "climate change" is
I voted for this!
The game just changed. The AGW scammers now have to prove that it’s true. The burden of truth is now on them. Appeals to emotion are not enough.
Trump is a genius.
Ideology--or science--or something in between?
"Greenhouse gases", specifically, the rise in CO2 concentration, is a hoax. CO2 is about .0427% of the air in the atmosphere.
I noticed that Michael Mann, he of the famous 'hockey stick' church of the miraculous temperature rise fame, was excised from an AP article about climate change policy. That's real progress. A return to the scientific method and one that will really spur economic development that has be reigned in because of onerous, poorly-supported policies. Hallelujah ! I voted for this.
The Obama administration couldn't get legislation through congress declaring CO2 emissions "greenhouse gases," so they used an executive order. Now, it is gone.
"Now, it is gone."
Until the next executive order, unfortunately.
I heard they were going to announce something about auto start/stop regulation today. Before Trump 2.0, the EPA gave automakers a half mpg compliance credit for cars with it, and twice that if it can't be disabled. That incentive was ended last Feb.
"Before Trump 2.0, the EPA gave automakers a half mpg compliance credit for cars with it, and twice that if it can't be disabled."
Giving credit for MPGs not actually obtained? I wonder what the 'science' behind *that* was. It sounds more like a bribe.
All the bad ideas to increase gas mileage sprung from this onerous, illegal "order". And the Judge that gave it a blessing should be impeached.
Loved the reference to "bedrock" in the NYT article. How can anyone repeal a bedrock finding?
Al Gore, famous for his slipping dates of "We have only 10 years left to take action on Climate Change", just woke up and is trying to decide which of his houses to visit this weekend.
'the basis for the Green New Scam,' a label the president gives to any effort to curb emissions or develop renewable energy.
Unlike the “Inflation Reduction Act,” the fraudulent label president Biden used for his signature Green New Scam legislation designed to funnel taxpayer money to his supporters under the guise of any effort to curb emissions or develop renewable energy.
Another source of graft ends.
"the government" includes Congress. Trump in no way erased the power and authority of Congress to enact laws.
What now needs to end is the entire "CAFE standards".
'the basis for the Green New Scam,' a label the president gives to any effort to curb emissions or develop renewable energy.
Thank you NYT for sharing your stupidity with the class.
And thank you for sharing your, true, belief that "curbing emissions" and "developing renewable energy" are both actions of religious zealotry, not solid economic choices.
Because if they had actual value, they wouldn't only happen when the gov't put a gun to people's heads
The proper name for it was The Green Leap Forward.
It's like saying he erased the government's power to fight gravity.
The rest of the list of deregulated gases are nasty. We don't want to breath them. Oh, well. We are ruled by Executive Order now.
Alternating dictators. A legislature that lets the US government be canceled every few months. Some time it will be permanent I suppose.
Here is the list of what we will breathe more of in the interest of freedom:
- Carbon dioxide (CO₂)
- Methane (CH₄)
- Nitrous oxide (N₂O)
- Hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs)
- Perfluorocarbons (PFCs)
- Sulfur hexafluoride (SF₆)
True to the above statement that Congress can still make laws. However, that was part of the point. Congress didn't make those rules, they were imagined by bureaucrats. The proponents of this nonsense in Congress loved not being responsible or having to answer to voters, like they would be if they passed those restrictions as laws.
My entire boomer life has seen a trend to electrification, electronic controls, and the transmission of useful data in great quantities. Whole new industries have come into being, like blogging for profit.
My prediction is these trends will continue. Part of what makes EVs, remote solar farms and solar on your roof, and remote wind turbines is the data that can be transmitted and used for decisions by humans and computerized controls.
I expect this trend to continue. The economics will make it happen at the pace it is profitable for the vendors, and useful enough to the customers that they buy the products and services. We often look back and wonder how we lived before cell phones with apps, GPS, and microwave ovens.
The trend is supported by utility companies under the name Distributed Energy Resources. It is supported by all the car companies in the world, every one of which manufacturers battery cars. Some make only battery cars.
Sounds good ta me.

I have mixed feelings about this. On the one hand I am a late and reluctant convert to "climate change is a real and urgent problem". On the other I recognize the problem with government overegulation strangling our free market economy.
Just a quick skim to see what they say about China and India . . . .
Hm. Oddly, they don't seem to mention either.

And why is that? Historically animals- including humans- expand their domain and live better when the climate around them is warmer. And plants. Receding glaciers in Alaska show razed forests underneath them that were razed as the glaciers grew. Where would you rather live- in an Alaskan forest or on top of an Alaskan glacier? I know my choice.
There were no humans in CNY where I now live when it was covered by 200 or more feet of ice.

Don't. The Clean Air Act is/was a completely inappropriate tool for this particular problem. Even the Obama EPA implicitly admits this, as also issued several other rules that let them avoid doing what the Act would require in response to the endangerment finding.

What you forgot to mention is the percentages of those gasses that are in our air. Keep in mind that all of these gasses occur naturally and have always been in the air we breathe. Some of them are beneficial to nature. If you live in North America you probably don't have anything to worry about. Don't travel to China though.
>We don't want to breath them.
Gasses that you "don't want to breath" also don't require the endangerment finding.
