They arrested Prince Andrew!

"Live Updates: U.K. Police Arrest Former Prince Andrew Over Epstein Ties, BBC Reports/The British police on Thursday arrested Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor on suspicion of criminal activity linked to the Epstein files" (NYT).
The Thames Valley Police said in a statement that it had “arrested a man in his sixties from Norfolk on suspicion of misconduct in public office and are carrying out searches at addresses in Berkshire and Norfolk.”
As British law requires, the police did not name the suspect, but the details provided in the police report match what is known about the public misconduct allegations. The police were seen on Thursday morning at the Sandringham Estate in Norfolk, England, where Mr. Mountbatten-Windsor is living.

Labour still hates cops and soldiers. They’re still doing everything they can to lock up British officials for actions in Northern Ireland, not to mention the War on Terror. And the two royals who actually fought in wars are being made into pariahs.

The Duke won’t even get the basic right of being tried by his peers in the Lords, because that was taken away years ago. CC, JSM

If Farage had balls, he’d get up and say “We cannot throw our royals and veterans to the wolves. I don’t care if the Duke of York raped and et a baby. It’s not that royals are above the law; it’s that royals are the law. The Crown is the guarantor of our freedom, so the Crown and the people near it must me inviolate. Today it may be a solid case; tomorrow it could be a completely manufactured one, to get the sovereign to go along with some tyranny from the government of the day. Prosecuting the royal family makes Britain a place where men instead of laws rule.”

Trump should give Andrew asylum, a Trump Gold Card, and a fast track to citizenship. Andrew would love abjuring all loyalty to Charles III, King of Great Britain. Trump's rationale should be like the J6 pardons: not that Andrew is necessarily innocent, but that the system has been so screwed up and weaponized against him that no one will ever know the truth.

Then Andrew can be like Lord Haw-Haw and broadcast to his former country on Rubio's new censor-proof European internet! CC, JSM

Dogma and Pony Show చెప్పారు...

"Is it plain yet that he didn't kill himself?"

Who cares? Child abusers and mobsters (among other cohorts) get killed in prison all the time, don't they? It wouldn't surprise me if that's how Epstein met his fate (if any real evidence of it emerged, that is).

It's a very big leap from "Epstein was murdered" to "Epstein's 'CLIENTS' murdered him to keep him from talking," which is what all the murder speculation seems to be trying to insinuate. But why would these all-powerful "clients" wait until he was already convicted and incarcerated to try to muzzle him?

Bob Boyd చెప్పారు...

We are horrified when adults without morals try to abuse childrens' bodies, as we should be, but we reward with fame and fortune those who come up with ways to mindfuck kids and eagerly hand the kids over to them. People who keep their kids off of screens or homeschool them to protect them are considered dangerous weirdos.

Enigma చెప్పారు...

@Dogma and Pony Show: But why would these all-powerful "clients" wait until he was already convicted and incarcerated to try to muzzle him?

Well...Epstein had access to 1,000,000 dirty little secrets beyond the sex stuff. They may not have wanted him talk in seeking release. Also, he was in an environment where bumbling government employees (nominal guards) were present. Finally, a semi-obvious murder sends a very public message to others thinking about cooperating with investigators.

Epstein's death events mimicked about 1,000 cliched movie plots.

Lazarus చెప్పారు...

The shadow of the incompetent Earl Mountbatten and the foolish, probably treasonous Duke of Windsor hangs over the House of Mountbatten-Windsor. Scandals and eccentrics seem to be more common in the family than mature and responsible adults.

But even before this dynasty, Britain has had trouble with its heirs and spares. A lifetime spent in waiting -- often waiting for something that will never happen -- takes its toll on the royals.

William చెప్పారు...

Whatever the formal charges are, Prince Andrew was arrested for his dicey sexual history. I don't mean this as a defense for him, but I don't think his crimes were monstrous. He's unsavory, unethical, and self indulgent, but I wouldn't put him up there with Jeffrey Dahmer......Show of hands: How many women here have had a more traumatic sexual experience in adolescence than screwing a Prince of the realm on a royal estate. I think the Rotherham girls certainly did.

RCOCEAN II చెప్పారు...

That's what happens when you're a Royal and not a Clinton. One is arrested, the other will never be brought to justice.

RCOCEAN II చెప్పారు...

Prince Andy is suspected of providing inside information to Epstein and Lord Mandelson (might be ex-Lord now) in order to make a killing in the stock market - among other things.

Dogma and Pony Show చెప్పారు...

"Well...Epstein had access to 1,000,000 dirty little secrets beyond the sex stuff."

Did he, though? Why aren't they in the Epstein files? (If it's just stuff that Epstein was carrying around in his head but hadn't documented, it's hard to believe it would be that valuable to the government or that threatening to the "real killers.")

"They may not have wanted him talk in seeking release." Sure, but why would Epstein not have already used the "secrets" to avoid going to prison in the first place, where he could be so easily bumped off because he was "in an environment where bumbling government employees (nominal guards) were present"?

"Finally, a semi-obvious murder sends a very public message to others thinking about cooperating with investigators."

Wouldn't a COMPLETELY obvious murder -- something like what Luigi Mangione did -- send that message even more clearly?

"Epstein's death events mimicked about 1,000 cliched movie plots."

Sort of my point.

Paul చెప్పారు...

What about all those UK Pakistani rape gangs?? What? Nothing? UK police won't touch them...

Enigma చెప్పారు...

@Dogma and Pony Show:

When I look at Epstein's prison cell orange bedsheet "noose" -- I struggle to understand how that would choke anyone to death. It looks way softer and more forgiving than a necktie. Neckties can kill if one gets trapped in a lathe or machine, but in the cell scenario? Plus there were piles and piles of orange bedsheets given to a "suicidal" prisoner?

Truth or fiction? Hmmm? Still, it brings to mind the Obama, Democrats, and Hollywood movie set line from Sarah Palin's speech in 2008. Many Democrats are fully embedded in fiction. Andrew was living in a dream world.

Weaponized against him? Are you stupid? Against him? If *you* were accused of raping teens, do you think it would take authorities 10, 15, 20 years before finally getting around to arresting you? The screwed up system defended him and protected him. It was not "weaponized" against him. Give me a break.

john mosby చెప్పారు...

If unreliable witnesses accused me of having sex with an 18 or possibly 17yo girl (Giuffre born in 1983, allegedly involved with the Duke in 2001), in murky circumstances, I would expect to never hear about it because no prosecutor would take such a shaky case. If one actually decided to take a chance on it, I would expect a very short process resulting in a directed verdict of acquittal as all their evidence fell apart.

Andrew still hasn’t been arrested for raping teens. He was arrested for allegedly giving Epstein confidential UK economic info. That’s also its own can of multiple affirmative defenses and other impediments to conviction. But anyway, back to the sex stuff: Andrew has been accused for years of a crime that no one seems able to prove in court. Yet all the norms have been broken to make him an example.

But you do have a point: If they can do that to him, what indeed can they do to me and you? This is why it’s even more important to honor the norms for the great, so that the little people feel secure.

And why it’s important to the enemies of our civilization to break it off in the asses of the great, so that ours are always a bit puckered. CC, JSM

It's identity politics all the way down in the UK. Having a racist or sexist or anti-Semitic police force is dangerous to a free people.

Epstein is dead. The Pakistani rape gangs are still out there, grooming girls. But all the media hate is in one direction.
