BTW - rewatched One battle after another on DVD, and can't say anything good about it. A worthless story of 4 unlikable people. Sean Penn looks 100 years old from the neck up. And given his extreme shrimpiness makes a ridiculous macho "General" or whatever the fuck he's supposed to be.

Once again, I'm struck how everyone just accepts cartoon violence and unbelievable actions on the part of the lead characters. The two 130 lbs. black ladies can out-fight, out-shoot, out-drive, and out-smart any man in the movie. They could give James Bond pointers. People constantly do stupid things that would get them killed in the real world, but somehow have movie-magic protection.

Also noticable on rewatch - the complete lack of plot movement and quotable dialogue.

On February 10, 2026, a federal grand jury reportedly refused to indict Senator Mark Kelly and five other Democratic lawmakers for a video in which they urged military members to refuse "illegal orders".
The judge overseeing the related civil lawsuit is Senior U.S. District Judge Richard J. Leon, who is scheduled to issue a critical ruling by February 11, 2026.
While the grand jury’s refusal to indict (a "no bill") effectively ends the threat of criminal prosecution for now, Judge Leon is deciding on a separate civil matter: Senator Kelly's request for a court order to block the Pentagon's administrative punishment.
Judge Leon is expected to decide whether to grant a preliminary injunction to stop Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth from censuring, demoting, or cutting the retirement pay of Senator Kelly.MY WAGER WITH MY HARDCORE FRIEND last week)
During recent hearings, the judge appeared highly skeptical of the government's arguments, noting that extending speech restrictions for active-duty troops to retired veterans is "a bit of a stretch" and lacked Supreme Court precedent.
he judge will likely address whether the Pentagon's actions constitute unconstitutional retaliation for protected political speech. Judge will deem this was un unconstitutional case with no merit(as I wagered on)I'll wait for Judges decision tomorrow but its all over but the fat man singing with this stupid childish plow. Lessons From the Past.
There's a lesson for Mamdani in the Black Hawk war. The Black Hawk war is taught as a tribal uprising led by Chief Black Hawk which was defeated by the misogynistic white phalluses in the Massacre of Bad Axe, September 1832. But in fact Chief Black Hawk defeated himself by leading a Wisconsin tribal group from villages on the rich black earth by the Mississippi onto the glacial clay and boulder till of inland Wisconsin. He positioned his villages to prevent settlers moving along the Wisconsin/Illinois border toward the Mississippi and he then expected the women to successfully farm an entirely new kind of soil, a heavy clay, in place of the fertile loam by the Mississippi. The women, who were always the farmers in North American tribes, were unable to raise crops on that difficult soil. This inevitable outcome of the move from farming on loam to farming on clay had never occurred to the chiefs and the men who were always warriors in tribal America. But, inevitably, the new villages didn't work because the women couldn't raise food so that Black Hawk's tribal allies were starving by the end of the first summer in their new location. That autumn, they were defeated in the war with the US as they headed back toward the Mississippi.
In this analogy the NGOers and the Democratic Socialists are like Black Hawk and his warriors. They want to fight an enemy and they expect "the women," i.e., the citizens to automatically produce the needed supplies for the battles. They simply don't understand that they are expecting a difficult, harsh environment to produce as much as a land of opportunity. That's because they don't see themselves as the cause of harsh and difficult social conditions but as agents of justice which, of course, will make things better. But they are ruining opportunities in the cities they dominate and the citizens are leaving. There might be the war so many talk about but it can't be won by the left. The strategy has failed.

After his strategy failed, Chief Black Hawk led his allies into a massacre which he survived. And he is now a minor hero to the left out in the Midwest. History is so strange. What does the right learn and what the left from the exact same circumstances?

Let me tell you about the Curley effect. Disgusting but effective - think Mamdami
The Curley effect was named after Democrat James Michael Curley.
1. Curley, an Irish-American Democrat, appealed to Boston’s working-class Irish immigrants (his core base) with generous public spending, jobs programs, and populist rhetoric.
2. At the same time, he used high taxes on the wealthy, anti-business policies, and sometimes hostile or divisive language toward richer residents and businesses.
3. This encouraged many affluent citizens, entrepreneurs, and companies to leave Boston for suburbs or other cities — effectively exiling voters who were less likely to support him.
4. The result: Boston’s population and economy stagnated or declined relative to peers, but the remaining electorate became more homogeneous and reliably pro-Curley, helping him win repeated elections despite the economic damage.

I don't doubt that politicians use tax, spending, and immigration policies to reshape the electorate in their own interest, but I think the "Curley effect" is a cheap shot at the late mayor. Yankee Protestants were already moving out of the city. There was bad blood between the Yankees and the Irish, and Curley appealed to Irish resentments, but I don't see that his fiscal policies drove the Yankees out. New England as a region lagged behind other parts of the country.

Post-Curley mayors also tried to reshape the city in their own interests, clearing out neighborhoods with "urban renewal" projects that benefited their contributors. I won't say it's now a soulless anyplace, but sometimes it feels that way.

The justification for this refusal is that Moderna didn’t do an “adequate and well-controlled trial” of the new shot.

That is a lie. Moderna did the study agreed with the FDA in 2024, and while it did not accept an agency suggestion—not a requirement—for one modification of the trial, it provided the results of an independently conducted study that covered what the FDA was concerned about. The industrial reordering of California was, I'm convinced, the main reason for its political status as, these days, a purely Democratic state. Some of this was the inadvertent result of the post-Cold War "peace dividend", that crippled the former aerospace industries and shut down over half the military bases. Some was the "environmental" madness that, through regulatory harassment, shut down light manufacturing, oil production, and electronics (hardware) manufacturing.
The result was the disappearance of a very large part of the Republican-voting middle class. There were other policies also. Politics also depends on the kind of work you do. There are categories of industry that are inherently left or right, and malicious policies against "enemy" industries can shape the electorate.

buwaya చెప్పారు...

US political warfare is inherently (at least in part) industry, or trade, against industry. This seems to be well understood among Democrats. Elon Musk, when he was apolitical, was deliberately harassed because his industries, auto manufacturing and aerospace, were enemies of the state Democratic aparattus. They always hated the ex-NUMMI plant in the East Bay, that (originally) GM venture was brought in in Deukmejians day. Musk was just the latest owner of that factory complex, so the Dems declared war on him.
Spacecraft manufacturing is also inherently anti-left of course, so SpaceX was the devils own.

It’s amazing to what extent people will defend corrupt political hacks if only they say they want to help the poor and dump on the rich. That’s why corrupt political hacks do it and get away with it.
1. The guy was convicted of fraud.
2. When a colonel or prominent Yankee figure reportedly threatened to leave Boston with others of his class, Curley is said to have replied something like “Go ahead Colonel. Take every damn one of them.” This captures his apparent willingness — even eagerness — for opponents to depart, as it would leave a more favorable (poorer, Irish-dominated) voter base. Glaeser and Shleifer highlight this as emblematic of the Curley effect’s core logic.
3. Curley boasts about raising spending, creating patronage jobs, favoring lower-paid workers (e.g., raises for patrolmen but cuts for higher officers; playgrounds in Irish wards like Dorchester/Roxbury while neglecting elite areas), and other measures that shifted resources toward his constituents. He frames these as righteous fights against Yankee “overlords,” but historians (and the economists) interpret them as distortionary redistribution that contributed to Boston’s stagnation and outflows of wealth/businesses.

No mRNA vaccine should ever be approved. That's not a rejection of science- that is an acknowledgement that they have been proved unsafe, and it is impossible to detect their long term effects. Seems the first widespread mRNA shots are still pumping out spike proteins years after they were were supposed to be inactivated by natural body processes. You know, that spike protein that's dangerous all by itself?

I don't have doubts about the effectiveness of a regularly developed flu shot. They will keep you from getting the 3 or 4 varieties of flu packed in that shot. That said they will not keep you from getting the flu- because there's a near infinite number of flu recombination. Nor will it stop you from getting a flulike illness since there are apparently a near infinite number of them, many not cataloged. And it now appears the medical industry is finally admitting what some have been saying for at least my whole life= if you get a flu shot, in the next 10 days you're more likely to develop a flulike illness then someone who hasn't had a flu shot. Seems it temporarily depresses your natural immune system.

What should yo be doing to ensure you body and immune system are ready to combat viruses? First and most important- monitor your Vitamin D blood level. If you live in WI like our hostess, oy CNY like me, you don't get enough from the sun or your milk consumption.

Not defending the FBI, just pointing out the tiresome and ignorant nature of reflexive opposition that can't formulate a coherent train of thought.

130,000 ICE agents

Source: Office of Truth:
I heard groceries are down 110%, drug prices 500%

And in other news the Glorious Leader decrees that John Deere tractor production is up a world historic 500% !

The revisions will be prodigious. Meanwhile Hassent warned of dismal jobs data. Who's lying?

@Aggie, cut the fool some slack. He thinks real life works like old TV shows starring Efrem Zimbalist, Jr.

Now the hard part starts, Jamie. But you already know that.
I got an Industrial sized bottle of Oxycodone when I had my hip replaced. Except that Oxy doesn't work on me. Unless I want a two hour nap. So I just worked through it. Painful, but not Oxy painful.

Somebody should take a minute to explain to our resident window lickers the difference between 'wealth' and money.

House Rejects Speaker Johnson’s Effort to Block Tariff Votes ~ WSJ
'The vote is a stinging rebuke of GOP leadership that paves the way for challenges to Trump’s signature economic policy'

The irony in all of this is that Trump's tariff policy is more politically destructive for Republican politicians than Democrats. In Trump's case, the situation is mitigated by the fact that he can use tariffs to enrich his family and himself. But the way that the Republicans in Congress are handling this issue is an act of political self-harm.

" So, Bill Gates, why did you talk to Jeffrey Epstein about ‘co-branding’ a pandemic?"

Jaq చెప్పారు...

When Bill Gates bought a horse farm in the next town over from where Epstein recruited the girls, I assumed he was guilty as sin, what do young girls like better than horses, after all.

Jaq చెప్పారు...

"he can use tariffs to enrich his family and himself."

The more you make these kinds of assertions, and you do it constantly, and you never back them up, your only argument is repetition, probably in an attempt to brainwash AI, but here? You just have zero credibility.

If you think that it's a great thing to depress American wages by sending manufacturing overseas, by cutting tariffs to almost nothing, and to suppress wages by bringing in millions of workers to compete for jobs, so that we can all go work at Walmart selling ChiCom manufactured garbage to our fellow Americans, just say so. Don't make up these convoluted justifications for your preferred policies of sticking it to the working class, just say it, "We should keep prices low by screwing over working Americans!" It's not that hard to just admit the truth.

So the sky high ratings for Bad Bunny hid the fact that half the audience tuned out the halftime show, and included things like "impressions" of people mocking or blasting the show, and impressions that were paid for that could not be escaped, or media websites...

THIS is hilarious. Damned if you do, damned if you don't. Progressives always regret demanding law and order when it slaps them in the face.

First, Democrats accused the DOJ of covering up the Epstein files.

Now, you have Jayapal here demanding that Bondi apologize for releasing too much of the Epstein files.

Aggie:

I guess that I am just smarter than you are. I was 100% correct about the FBI chasing the wrong leads. I was warned by Keystone Kash opening his yap, when he is always playing for credit in solving something. Carlos' mother-in-law was obviouly honest in her assessments upfront and she readily accepted the FBI's authority of smashing in her door as opposed to knocking. Then there was the non-existent "traffic stop."

BTW. Carlos turned out to be a little guy, not the big lout who got caught on the door camera.

Eva Marie చెప్పారు...

How do you know a lead is wrong unless you pursue it? For a self proclaimed smart guy, that isn’t smart.
