So, the Epstein list fallout continues. Two more scalps added today. Peter Attia, a CBS television expert physician / talking head has left this position, and a former Prime Minister of Norway, Thorbjørn Jagland, has apparently attempted suicide. He also headed the Nobel committee that awarded a Nobel Prize to Barack Obama.
And today as I read Jeff Childer's post in Coffee & Covid (a good read), I see that he notes that no prominent Americans have been named yet as investigative targets. He thinks that the groundwork is possibly being laid to make this digestible to the public opinion maw, as the process cascades from 'unthinkable' to 'popular'. Just in time for midterms, wot.

And what will voters think of Progressive Democrats latest gimmick? A few years ago it was Nancy Pelosi making suck-on-a-lemon faces and then vengefully ripping up her copy, up on the dais. This year, it'll be empty seats, as Progressive Democrats refuse the decorum of attending the SOTU address, preferring to launch a counter-protest somewhere outside.
How will the constituents react, when they've elected people to represent their interests in the Capitol, only to have them refuse to be present as their representative, in such an important occasion? They're spitting out the binky instead.
I don't understand Progressive Democrats - maybe they can chime in here to explain how / why they would support this as meaningful. I know I wouldn't be respecting my elected rep's if they had done this for Old Joe, no matter how much I didn't care for him. I would expect them to do their job since they're going to retire rich (*spits*).

If Trump goes through with this potentially disastrous attack, with 20% support, and the rest opposed or on the fence, and if one thing goes wrong, they will be jumping off the fence. Look for the Democrats to get swept back into power, and they will do what the EU is doing in Germany, making sure that the opposition cannot ever get power while they deindustrialize the country, and financialize the economy there.

Carlson has forgotten that his job as journalist is to articulate what the population suspects or is thinking, and provide relatable insights that help viewers get at the truth and form coherent ideas of their own. Instead, he's trying to take the more recent redefinition of creating narratives, and his are too far off base, untethered to acceptable thinking. Most people think he's become a crank, like Candice Owen, trying to figure a way to cash in and score big. They're both ridiculous now.

I guess it was unacceptable to get Huckabee to let the truth slip out that he thought that Israel should take the whole Middle East, or bring up Huckabee's long efforts to get a spy who sold the US out to the Soviets through Israel out of jail, when he had been rightly serviing a life sentence.
It's unacceptable to question Israel, and we should be putting our soldiers in harm's way, risking a regional war that could end up costing us trillions, because Israel wants us to, and it will further the vision that Huckabee let slip under Carlson questioning.

What they want is for everyone to have more than everyone else, which violates some important physical constraints.

It is an existing, and improving, system. The problem with COBOL isn't the language, it is that business software is part of a much larger system. Business systems are complex and need to be both efficient and safe. That is the context problem. The software was also written long ago and design documentation is either missing or incomplete. That documentation, and tests, are essential for translating/refactoring complex systems, both for humans and AI.

I have a perhaps rare perspective on Israel and its minorities. As it happens, Israel also has a considerable number of guest workers, a large number from the Philippines, who are nearly all Catholic.
The Philippines sends millions of overseas workers, so many that they make up the majority of the skilled workforce of Saudi Arabia/the Gulf. Nobody is a "slave", except in the occasional egregious cases, which become prominent stories in the Philippine media, which is just as sensitive to cases of "they done us wrong" as you can imagine. Philippine consulates are very sensitive to these things as they are very likely to become political issues back home. Granted, there are the common cases of being treated with entirely legal disrespect/callousness, for which Arab employers have a reputation.
Israel is a highly desired destination for Philippine overseas contract workers. They are much better treated there than in the usual Arab countries. Filipinos at least are not "second class citizens", well, they are not citizens at all, but they are generally treated with kindness and humanity.
Six Filipino OFW's were killed in the Hamas attack in 2023.
And one Filipino reservist in the IDF (born in Israel to Filipino OFW parents) was killed in the subseqient Gaza operations.
Israel has a similar controversy re birthright citizenship as does the US. This has been inconsistently applied to Filipinos in Israel.
Overseas workers (OFWs in Philippine parlance) are a very sensitive subject in the country. They are held in high esteem, they have an aura of heroic virtue, almost.
Pesident Dutertes downfall began when the police were accused of killing the sons of two OFWs. That immediately stopped the killing spree of alleged drug dealers, and turned the population against the murderous policy. Duterte is currently on trial in the ICC in Brussels.
