This afternoon, we were sitting on a bench by the trail when a murderous branch fell out of a tree about 30 feet away from us. These things just suddenly drop. All those trees — they're all going to fall. And yet we walk in the woods.
Texas gov Abbot was hit by a falling tree and is in now in a wheel chair. Rep Crockett called him Governor Hot Wheels and a Travis county judge said he hates trees because one fell on him. Quite humorous.
It appears that the Trump administration, specifically Harmeet Dhillon, are looking into possible irregularities in Ilhan Omar’s naturalization. It's about time.

In Hawaii we have Eucalyptus trees, that grow to 100 ft, and have branches that are the size of small trees. They are self pruning, they drop horizontal branches often. usually the 30 foot long ones.
I've lived around them, but never thought they were murderous. Just living their lives peacefully being large trees.
In the last blast of snowmagdocopalypse, a big white oak in the lot behind our house uprooted and went down, taking at least two other trees with it, crossing the road. The county came around and cut it off the road almost immediately, and then a couple of days later they cleaned up the mess on the easement.
I was at a friend's house that was kind of set back into the woods, and a pine tree fell close by, my first thought was that it was a plane crash.

I remember, a long time ago, in a blog near and dear to us, that I spelled the number three as tree and I was gently corrected. I will never forget that day for as long as I live, as God is my witness, I will never go misspelling the number three again.
It happened last year in Standish, Maine. A tree fell amidst a storm and became a fatality. Sad, tragic.
You know, after I posted that note about a Serial Killers Exhibit here in GA. It occurred to me that I could never be a successful serial killer. I have a scientifically undiscovered malady which renders me blind at the sight of blood. Only temporarily thank Goodness. So, I was thinking, you know how killers comeback to the scene of their dastardly deeds? I wouldn’t be coming back, I wouldn’t be coming back at all because I would still be there, practically paralyzed by the sight of blood. You know what sad is that, you don’t need a background check to become a serial killer. It’s really an untapped growth field of endeavor. Fortunately someone in the Tehran regime had the foresight to pack away a few bodies from the recent protest massacre into cold storage. My Mom watches MS NOW. She's 84, I think she's the target demo. And I'm like, "Mom, let's change the channel." And we watch a show on Netflix. We started The Diplomat. So far it's really good, and really annoying, simultaneously, which is a neat trick. (The Iranians are innocent, and English people are throwing rocks at their embassy, which is a weird take on reality). Obviously the writers are liberals, but they don't have TDS, which is refreshing.
I think the president (Michael McKean) is supposed to be a Democrat just like Joe Biden, which means he's old and funny and sharp as a tack. Although his aides say he's a loose cannon and you can't leave him alone with foreign dignitaries because you never know what he's going to say next. I'm like, hoo boy. Also the show is still mad at George Bush and Colin Powell. So the politics under the show is way messed up, but the show itself is fun.
I think the two main ambassadors are supposed to be like Bill and Hillary. Except without the cheating. "He never cheats." But he's a lovable rogue, and she still wants to kill him. The acting in the show is really good (Kari Russell and Rufus Sewell).
We're three episodes in season 1 (2023), and the USA is about to go to war with Iran, so it's almost prophetic. They started this show during the Biden administration. We'll see how it goes. Maybe TDS will catch them at some point. It's fun diplomat shenanigans.

I don't even know why you would lie about that.
The NY Times has a lead editorial this morning, using the attack on Iran to, surprise, attack Trump. The timing, length and content make it very obvious that the editorial was written well in advance of the attacks themselves.

Years ago, when my kids we little, I took them and a friend on a trip to the Boundary Waters. Our four day, 24 mile canoe trip, over Labor Day, had very high winds. As we paddled along river and lake, we often witness trees falling over. That area has very little soil on top of solid rock (typically granite) so the trees really don't get rooted well. I didn't sleep at all, every night worrying a tree would fall and hit our tent.
I think they probably should have done this weeks ago if they were going to do it at all. It seems weird now, but if this war mongering allows Thune to bring the Save America Act up to vote and it to get passed by McConnell and his clique then it's worth it.

Most of the US pays very reasonable rates, the exceptions are (especially) California and New York + the Democratic NE states.
Electricity is a state matter as all this is determined by state government policy and overseen by their PUC's.
