She has been married to Joe for more than 50 years. Whatever her 'former' husband has done is not relevant to now.

The headline said "new wife," but I guess that means "newer than Jill." The body of the article mentioned the decedent is survived by her daughter with the suspect, who, given the decedent's age of 64, must be at least in her 20s.
So I guess this guy, if guilty, thought "I got 10-20 years left. I can spend them with her - even if we get divorced, I'm gonna have to keep contact with her in some way. Or I can spend them in a cell. I'm going with the cell."

1972 (November) Joe is elected to the US Senate
1972 (December) Neilia Biden and daughter die in a crash (later, in 2001 and 2006, falsely attributed to a drunk driver by Joe in speeches)
1974 Jill and Stevenson separate
1974 Stevenson says he suspected an affair between Joe and Jill
1975 (March) Joe claims he first saw Jill's picture on a poster in an airport
1975 (March) Joe & Jill claim they were first set up on a date by Joe's brother Frank
1975 Joe contacts Jill, inviting her to watch him at the Democratic Convention "How did you get this number?"
1975 (May) Jill divorces Stevenson
1976 Photo of Joe and Jill when they were seeing each other (no evidence she ever babysat the Biden children)
1977 (June) Jill marries Joe
2001 (September) Joe claims his first wife was killed by a drunk driver
2006 (December) same claim repeated. Later, Joe recanted and apologized to the truck driver's widow.

For the record, Neilia Biden pulled her vehicle into the path of the truck, which the driver couldn't get stopped in time to avert the collision.

And from that moment until today Biden, the scumbag that he has always been, claimed that the truck driver "drank his lunch" and was drunk and had caused the accident.
From what I can understand from the Post article, Stevenson and his wife are in their 70s. He got mad, hit her and she died. Domestic abuse charge upgraded to murder.
Bill Clinton's probably thinking "That could happen to me".

Joe eventually recanted, but I seem to recall the story being repeated by the newsies when Biden was being introduced before his acceptance speech in 2008. That's where I remember hearing it.
Wonder if Biden's 1st wife weighed heavily on his 2nd wife? Their family life has been a wreck, outcome of their children a sad story..
There were rumors at the time of Nelia's death that she commited suicide after learning of Joe's affair with Jill.
