It is unclear whether there is anything other than hatred for President Trump that holds the mendacious, thieving ratbag Team Donkey together these days. They seem to be unable to come up with any constructive ideas on addressing the absolute disaster that they saddled the nation with.

They must be kept as far away from the reins of power as can possibly be done.

Billy Strings is playing his third night in Nashville this evening. He played the first two shows at the hockey arena (cap: 20,000) and tonight at the Ryman (cap: 2,300) If you bought tickets for either arena evening you were entered into a lottery for Ryman tickets.

My older one and son-in-law went last night and also got Ryman tickets. And the music site ‘nugs’ is live-streaming tonight’s show, so I’m listening along!

He’s an interesting mix of bluegrass, country, roots, and jam. Five musicians, playing guitar, banjo, mandolin, upright bass, and fiddle - no drummer or keyboards. They had a special guest sit-in on Friday night - and as you can probably guess given the city and genre - it was Edgar Winter. Not kidding!! lol

President Trump said Saturday that he will send the San Diego-based Navy hospital ship USNS Mercy to Greenland to “take care of the many people who are sick, and not being taken care of there.”

Trump announced his Truth Social app, adding that the nearly 40-year-old Navy vessel is “on the way!!!”.

The ship has been dispatched on quick notice before. It was sent to Los Angeles in 2020 to help fight the Covid pandemic. But Mercy is currently at a shipyard in Alabama, undergoing maintenance. It hasn’t been deployed since 2024, when it spent four months in the Indo-Pacific on a humanitarian and disaster relief mission. It returned to San Diego in February of that year and was later moved to Alabama Shipyard LLC in Mobile.

Trump’s remarks appear to have caught the kingdom of Denmark off guard. In a statement Sunday, Greenlandic Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen said, “That will be ‘no thanks’ from us … President Trump’s idea to send a US hospital ship here to Greenland has been duly noted. But we have a public health system where care is free for citizens.”

Tell me yet again that Trump is not demented!

I saw this today on Facebook. An amazing story. I checked its accuracy with Grok, Perplexity, and Google.
“Everyone knows that John Wilkes Booth assassinated President Abraham Lincoln. Booth came from a famous acting family - his older brother, Edwin Booth, was the most renowned actor of his era.
After the assassination, Edwin, devastated by his brother’s crime, temporarily retired from the stage in shame and penance.
About a year earlier a young man named Robert was at a crowded train platform in Jersey City, New Jersey, waiting to board a train to Washington, D.C.
As passengers pushed forward, Robert was pressed against a train car. When the train suddenly moved, he lost his footing and began falling into the dangerous gap between the platform and the moving train, risking serious injury or death.
A nearby man quickly grabbed Robert by the coat collar and pulled him to safety. When Robert turned to thank him, he recognized the rescuer as the famous actor Edwin Booth.
Robert thanked him by name.
Years later, after the assassination, a friend informed Edwin that the young man he had rescued was Robert Todd Lincoln, Abraham Lincoln’s only surviving son.”
So Edwin Booth saved the life of Lincoln’s son and Edwin’s brother killed Abraham Lincoln.

That isn't Moore County -- not by a long shot. Besides Carthage, the county seat, Moore County includes Pinehurst and Southern Pines, a conurbation of golf courses, stud farms, and training stables. It's where the leisured classes go to play and socialize with the like-minded. Jupiter ayon kay ...

Earlier today, I referred to someone as a "ditzy broad". As you might suppose, that person was female. I would not call Schuck Chumer, or Noisome Newsome, or any other presumably testicle-bearing center of repugnance a "ditzy broad". "Ditzy broad" is applicable only to persons predentified at birth as female. Persons of XY, as it were.

I might, for example, refer to Havin Blewsome as a "flaming asshole", or a "slimy, shitfaced, lying prick". But those are not epithets I would apply to, say, Nancy Pelosi.

Now, I would claim, that this is simply a matter of gender agreement, like the way adjectives work in Spanish. La casa ests blanca, el coche esta blanco. The car does not have a big, swinging, dick, and the house may have a pussy hidden away somewhere, but it's a pussy-cat, not a female sexual organ. But the way you describe them depends upon their gender. Which, in Spanish, at least, has very little to do with their external genitalia, or their DNA.
If I don't call Noisome Newsome a Dumb Fucking Cunt, but I do call Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez a Dumb Fucking Cunt, well. There exist idioms in which calling a man a "cunt" is meaningful, but they are not idioms I employ. I might call Governor Gruesome a white-hot, flaming asshole, or a slimy little lying prick, but not a dumb fucking cunt.

The reason I bring this up, is, if I refer to some ditzy broad as a ditzy broad, I may be accused of "sexism", with the question, "Would you call a man that (with the additional implied pearl-clutch, "I won't repeat the awful slur!)?"
What I want to suggest, is that I am actually guilty, to the extent that guilt adheres, of genderism. I am employing words that have gender association, in the language I speak, in accordance with their gender-related rules. "DFC" is used for women. A "WHFA" is male.

Jupiter ayon kay ...

"Havin' Blewsome" is a separate sort of --- gender? -- related slur. Everyone over the age of seven is aware that Kamala Harris entered California politics by giving head to Willie Brown. But that is certainly not the only way to become a tool of the California Democrats, and the suggestion that Noisome made his bones on his knees is -- speculative. But look at the guy.

buwaya ayon kay ...

Jupiter, you have run into a genuine set of Spanish complications.
Your sentences should be-
La casa es blanca
El coche es blanco
La/El definite articles -"the"- and the adjectives blanca/blanco are where your Spanish gender is applied in these cases.
está is the non gendered "to be" or lets say a conditional "is".
esta is the female gendered "this"
este is the male gendered "this"
esto is "this" when there is no noun to apply it to

Trump has never understood the open-ended nature of Netanyahu's militarized strategy of using absolute military dominance over the region to achieve territorial annexation over all of Palestine.

Such a strategy is only sustainable for Israel if the US commits substantial troops, weapons, and resources permanently to this dominance mission. Such a commitment would be similar in scale to how the US deployed 350,000 troops to West Germany during the Cold War. The US is now well beyond a couple of billions of dollars of annual "military assistance" to aid the "security" of Israel.

This Netanyahu-designed expansion of America's role in the Middle East guarantees near-perpetual armed conflict with the intransigent irredentist forces of the Muslim world. If not the mullahs in Iran, then the next indigenous insurgent force driven forward by powerful and unquenchable irredentist forces will join the conflict. The "forever war" to support Israeli expansionism will continue on its forward trajectory.

At some point, the American voters are going to realize that a disengagement from the Middle East around more narrowly drawn security goals could potentially save hundreds of billions of dollars a year in defense spending. Trump's recently renamed War Department is simply proving a very old truth -- war is very expensive.

In the winter the communities outside the capital “city” of Nuuk can only be reached by dogsled, snowmobile, or helicopter, and amphibious assault vessels carry plenty of helicopters. As a bonus its defenses include anti-ship missiles and a complement of F-35 fighters, just in case Denmark decides to get frisky.

It's amazing to me that people can look at the film of Brzezinski doing what he later bragged about doing, and pretend that none of it matters, that the US didn't fund the Taliban takeover of Iran because "other factors were at play"

Here is a link to a University of Arizona copy of the transcript of his interview, since people seem to think that the last link I provided to his interview was suspect because it was hosted by a site that opposes war,

"Brzezinski: Yes. According to the official version of history, CIA aid to the Mujahiddin began during 1980, that is to say, after the Soviet army invaded Afghanistan on December 24, 1979. But the reality, closely guarded until now, is completely otherwise: Indeed, it was July 3, 1979 that President Carter signed the first directive for secret aid to the opponents of the pro-Soviet regime in Kabul. And that very day, I wrote a note to the president in which I explained to him that in my opinion this aid was going to induce a Soviet military intervention."

imTay (formerly Jaq, formerly Tim in Vermont) says (7:25) "All we did to [help Iraq] was to take control of their oil".

This is utterly and obviously false. Go to Wikipedia's heavily-footnoted article "Petroleum industry in Iraq" and click on "Service contracts licensing results" in the left margin and you will see a spreadsheet showing that only 2 of the 24 oilfield service contracts are with US companies. If you sort by the right-hand column, "Gross revenue at plateau", you will find that the US companies are in 1st and 10th place, but the companies in 2nd to 9th places are from the UK and China (tied), Russia, UK, Italy, Malaysia, UK, and China. The other 14 includes companies from Angola, Korea, France, Turkey, and Japan. In short Iraq sells their oil to companies from a dozen different countries, many of them hostile or indifferent to the US, and makes good money doing so. Note also the footnote at the bottom of the spreadsheet: "The Iraq state retains a 25% share in all fields for which Service Contracts have been awarded." In sum, the idea that the US liberated Iraq from Sadam Hussein so we could steal their oil was always a lie. US companies have to compete with every other oil company in the world for Iraqi oil, and pay the world price.

imTay ayon kay ...

We control the money that they get from the sale of their oil, Trump just threatened to withhold it because he didn’t like who the Iraqis elected

“ Iraq sells oil through SOMO (State Oil Marketing Organization).

• Those dollars settle via the U.S. banking system.
• Funds end up credited to Iraq’s account at the Federal Reserve.

The U.S. can:
• Freeze or restrict dollar access” - ChatGPT

It was not a us problem if Afghanistan was implementing land reform, and certainly the money and weapons the US provided were routed through the ISI.

We admitted our motives, and they were not about land reform, which I am certain upset some very wealthy and powerful people in the country.

imTay ayon kay ...

It doesn’t take a genius to put together CIA and ISI operations in the Khyber Pass region, the bombing halt at Tora Bora which is a short distance away, and bin Laden’s escape to Pakistan.

People know that 9-11 stinks of intrigue far beyond Afghanistan’s borders, but just don’t turn over the rocks.

Dr Weevil ayon kay ...

If imTay had bothered to read up on the Saur Revolution, or even read the bits of the Wikipedia article I quoted to him on the previous thread, he would know that the Afghan Marxists went on a massive spree of killing, torturing, raping, and looting. The entire nation rose in revolt against them: it wasn't just a few disgruntled landowners complaining about a non-violent land reform.

Once again, Tim/Jaq/imTay knows nothing, but repeats the standard tankie/Vatnik/Putinite propaganda line without swerving from it by a single inch. Disgusting - and stupid.

Comments should go up immediately... unless you're commenting on a post older than 2 days. Then you have to wait for us to moderate you through. It's also possible to get shunted into spam by the machine. We try to keep an eye on that and release the miscaught good stuff. We do delete some comments, but not for viewpoint... for bad faith.
