It returned to San Diego in February of that year and was later moved to Alabama Shipyard LLC in Mobile.

Go to Wikipedia's heavily-footnoted article "Petroleum industry in Iraq" and click on "Service contracts licensing results" in the left margin and you will see a spreadsheet showing that only 2 of the 24 oilfield service contracts are with US companies. If you sort by the right-hand column, "Gross revenue at plateau", you will find that the US companies are in 1st and 10th place, but the companies in 2nd to 9th places are from the UK and China (tied), Russia, UK, Italy, Malaysia, UK, and China. The other 14 includes companies from Angola, Korea, France, Turkey, and Japan. In short Iraq sells their oil to companies from a dozen different countries, many of them hostile or indifferent to the US, and makes good money doing so. Note also the footnote at the bottom of the spreadsheet: "The Iraq state retains a 25% share in all fields for which Service Contracts have been awarded." In sum, the idea that the US liberated Iraq from Sadam Hussein so we could steal their oil was always a lie. US companies have to compete with every other oil company in the world for Iraqi oil, and pay the world price.
