* I am being very careful not to say "pursued" because MPDC have a no-pursuit policy. During the Biden admin, two MPDC officers who allegedly chased a man on a non-street-legal dirt bike into traffic where he was hit by a car and died were prosecuted, convicted and imprisoned. Trump pardoned the officers and MPDC had to reinstate them. (not sure why; even if your criminal conviction is vacated, you could still be done administratively for violating the policy. May be some intricacy of their union contract.)

Will be interesting what happens to the officers in today's case. CC, JSM

Why is this a surprise? Eastern Ukraine (Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia, Crimea) is very heavily Russian-speaking, and there were plenty of people born in Ukraine and carrying Ukrainian passports their whole lives who considered themselves actually to be Russian and welcomed Putin's invasion.

If they were ethnic Ukrainians who were raised speaking Ukrainian, that would indeed be a much more odd occurrence.

"This tactic has now made it nearly impossible for Trump and Vance to persuasively argue that Ukrainian intransigence is the primary obstacle to peace"

What has made peace impossible is that Germany, France, and the UK have said that the instant a cease fire is in place, they are going to pour troops into Ukraine and start building bases, err.. I mean "hubs" which makes it impossible for any peace deal to ever be signed. The plan is that Russia spend men and treasure rolling over Ukraine completely, the Ukrainians don't matter any more than the cooks and housekeepers that Delta Force killed in Maduro's house. Plus it's a lie to say that Zelensky has agreed to all of Trump's demands. When Lindsay Graham said "last Ukrainian" he meant it.

But why are you worried about a war that we don't have the money to fight, Kak?

Jaq చెప్పారు...

The plan is that once we run out of Ukrainian soldiers, I meant to say, the war will continue with terrorism and attacks on shipping, it will be open season on Russia forever, the idea being that it will eventually collapse. The goal of Pinochet was to remove REAL totalitarians from power. He did. And the generals who removed Peron. Franco also, if you look at him with an unjaundiced eye. And what the actual job of the Turkish army was before the west told them to stop and let leftists/islamists stay in power- and look at Turkey now. Once they had accomplished their mission, they were done.

Socialist/communist/islamic leaders can never abdicate peacefully because all of them are permanent revolution to achieve the perfect socialist/communist/islamic state. Which, of course, is never perfect since perfection in unobtainable.

BTW- if someone is aiming a car at you- the only proper solution for you is kill the m------f------ before they hit you. Same if someone points a gun or other deadly weapon at you. Kill or be killed- another version of FAFO.

Over the last year my son has been shot at more then a dozen times. Hit in the body armor once. He and his various teammates have killed more then a dozen shooters. Arrested a whole bunch more, both shooters and people who had the sense to throw their hands in the air. Confiscated many pounds of cocaine, fentanyl, and other lesser drugs, and a few millions of dollars. In raids that ICE/CBP/FBI, and other mostly 3 letter agencies don't tell you about. For both military actions (like Venezuela or interdicting stateless vessels) and border security actions unless you have an inside source you have zero clue about what's actually going on. And even then, you never get the full story. It's a dangerous world out there.

Since 1776 but for a short interval from 1860-1865 the people in the states of the USA (not the territories per se) have lived through an unprecedented period of both peace and prosperity within our borders. I'd like to keep it that way. I have children and grandchildren and therefore an actual stake in the future.

Everything going on is interconnected in one way or another. Taking Venezuelan oil out of the equation leaves Cuba in a precarious position.

Venezuela not paying it's Roads and Belts loans from China stresses the entire banking system in China.

Bringing Venezuelan oil to Gulf of America state refineries lowers the price of oil worldwide, which reduces Russian revenues since oil is pretty much their only export worth mentioning beside the arms trade.

And after the Venezuelan raid, what other nation is going to buy Russian and/or Chinese military equipment?

With an America First leader in office, the USA is a power to be dealt with. With any of the Democrats since LBJ in office, it isn't. And all of them currently mentioned as contenders for the oval office are worse then any since LBJ.

O don't believe all cultures are equal because they aren't. If you believe that, you're a fool. I used to believe, as it was taught in school, Sunday School, and civic organizations that people throughout the world were underneath, all the same. They wanted a home, children, peace with each other, etc. And- were basically good honest hardworking people. Nope, they aren't. Job Gains Cooled in December, Capping Year of Weak Hiring ~ WSJ

To say the payrolls number was a disappointment is weird. The margin for error on this is very wide. Whatever Biden has been doing these last three months has really messed things up.

No one will see this, but - Scott Bessent on X:

I am pleased to announce that, reflecting its strengthened financial position, Argentina has both quickly and fully repaid its limited draw on the swap facility with the United States, such that the Exchange Stabilization Fund currently does not hold any pesos.

I offer this statement from Treasury without comment. Ok, ONE comment: we turned a profit on this swap.

CNN reports the ICE agent was “bumped” by a car. Laughable.

And as I said yesterday, Trump got a boo-boo on his ear.

Kak, the All-In Podcast had a very informative interview with Scott Bessent, what, last week? He talks about - one might even say "bemoans" except that he's so not-dramatic about everything - the "problematic" nature of BLS statistics. We can all appreciate how those stats are revised every quarter; the question is, how can we collect better, more reliable stats on real time? It's not that trivial. (And I'm sure you remember in what direction they were always being revised under "Biden.")

Leland చెప్పారు...

we turned a profit on this swap.

One thing Trump has done numerous times in his first year is find ways for the US to make profit without taxes. The Intel stock purchase is just another example, and that was money approved to go to Intel under the Biden Administration, but Trump turned it into a profit.

If according to Powell the economy added about 60k jobs less than what the official statistics claim, we'd look at no new jobs at all.

Manufacturing negative, worse than expected. Prior month nonfarm payrolls revised downward 8k. Prior month private payrolls revised down 19k. Private payrolls below expectations. Nonfarm 3 month average is now negative. Housing starts deeply negative. Building permits negative. Etc. etc. etc...

Welcome to the Trump economy, 12 months in.

The Rooskies. say that they have plenty of proof that Trump tried to assassinate Putin, purportedly, they handed over a recovered chip to us that they claim proved it beyond doubt, it's implied that the chip had targeting information on it, whether it is true or not, the Russians seem to believe it, and they have stopped playing nice.

The Oreshnik has 36 non-nuclear MRVs, maneuverable reentry vehicles with dense metallic explosive warheads for deep bunker penetration with mass, hypersonic speed, and heavy explosives.

yesterday they took out some US owned facilities, including a "consumer electronics plant" that Ukraine claimed made "coffee makers" and "vacuum cleaners' but the assumption is that they were making drones, and a warehouse in Odessa that went up with a massive mushroom cloud, which hints at NATO weapons storage.

I know that Ukraine hit another oil tanker in the Black Sea, so the war is going to a higher level right now. Russia only has 6,000 nuclear weapons, so don't worry, none of them work because they are all drunks.

We are being ushered to the precipice of nuclear war, we are way past the brink.

Jaq చెప్పారు...

Even if the CIA story is true, that they were only aiming at a site "near" his home, the attack came while Trump told Putin to "hang on, I'll call you back shortly" even assuming that's true, the idea behind that was to sent Putin a message that we could kill him at any time. This seems pretty funny to us, but it could have triggered an Oreshik attack of a NATO base in Germany or Poland, or wherever, which could easily have escalated to nuclear war.

I think it's possible that Trump is being lied to by the CIA, it's also possible that his whole peace president and dance is just shtick for rubes like me who supported him because we thought he was different.

Jaq చెప్పారు...

Dammit! "peace president fan dance." Trump keeps signaling peace and the next thing that happens is the war escalates.

Jaq చెప్పారు...

Oh shit, they took out Ukraine's underground gas supply, which also served Europe. But they did hit another tanker yesterday with a sea drone!

Jesse Ventura is the former governor of Minnesota.
He was also a pro wrestler before that, but you probably knew that... unless you're, like, 12.
On Thursday, the wrestling icon visited a Minneapolis high school to show support after federal officers reportedly used pepper spray and detained a staff member during a confrontation with ICE.
His words about the state of things are going viral:
You wanna know something? I'll give you a quote. We're a Third World country now. You want to know why? I'm an expert. I've been to one. I spent 17 months in Southeast Asia while the draft dodger was playing golf. Right? You know how I know we're a Third World country? Because in Third World countries, they have the military doing their police work in the cities while you walk around."
He was also asked if he had a message for Donald Trump:
He replied, "Who is that? You mean, the draft dodging coward? I don't call him by name. He's the draft dodging coward who, when it was his time to serve his country, did what all rich white boys did. I wasn't a rich white boy. I grew up in South Minneapolis. Most of me and my friends are Vietnam veterans, we had to go, but the rich white boys never had to go, did they? And he didn't have to go, did he? And he's gonna tell me what courage is?"
"Still got that Minneapolis edge, Jesse
The REAL TRUTH SOCIAL BLAINE COOPER still carries' OLD PAINLESS" mini gun in his heart and certainly says what's on his mind.

Shocking new video from the killer’s phone shows Renee Good’s kind last words — and the HORRIBLE things he said after he murdered her!
The footage of Jonathan Ross’s personal cellphone has been release to the media, and it shows without a doubt that he killed Renee Good as punishment for refusing to be intimidated by him.
Her last words were “It’s okay dude, I’m not mad at you.” Then she begins to drive away, not realizing that her kindness and forgiveness would be a death sentence.
To a man like Jonathan Ross, who spent his earlier life killing people in Iraq, the fact that she refused to be intimidated by him, her refusal to be cowed into submission by his tough demeanor was unacceptably emasculating. An insecure and heartless man, he couldn’t stand to see her defy him, so he killed her.
That was made clear by what he said immediately after shooting: “F*cking b*tch.”
Men like Jonathan Ross join ICE because they want to be feared and respected, to impose their will on others through the power of their gun and uniform. When that didn’t work on this attractive woman, he couldn’t allow the belittlement of his ego to go unpunished — so he MURDERED her.
This also makes it clear that contrary to all the disgusting lies of the Trump administration, Renee Good was NOT trying to hit him — "I'm not mad at you" are not the words of someone about to commit vehicular assault.
Let’s get this monster Ross in front of a jury ASAP — and let them decide if “f*cking b*tch” shows malicious intent to murder.
MAGAS seem to love this guy thats how sad it is...God will have the final say ,the ultimate judge..The lies and gaslighting are incredible...
