"Now, JD, why don't you give us an update.... while you're talking, I'm just gonna sort of walk around in the background and look out windows...."
Says SNL Trump (at 2:00):The windows bit references this real-life Trump incident:
“a thin thread and a confusing miasma”

Oh look at the courage.
We know we have a NAZI in the white house because SNL is making fun of him again.
Funny how SNL acts like there is a dictator in the White House when a Democrat is there.
The wandering off is pretty Biden-y.
Age limits now.
So why do you think Trump stopped his meeting with oil company executives, who are seeking both US security guarantees and taxpayer-funded infrastructure subsidies for Venezuelan oil production, to talk to them about his ballroom where the price tag continues to go up for it monthly?
As soon as Trump started on about bringing down the price of oil, they started losing interest and there in lies the biggest blocker to his and their future investment plans.
Trump bragging about his $400 million ballroom and getting up to admire the construction site as he meets with oil company executives looking to plunder Venezuela with money from US taxpayers basically sums up this entire administration perfectly.
"We did a reverse Santa, we came down the chimney with a bag and took him away."
That's a a genuinely funny line, but dead silence from the audience.
That was closer to "three minutes of hate" than to any kind of parody. I suppose that's what their audience wants, but the hate quotient is much higher than the humor content. They don't look for ways to be funny but rather for fresh and original ways to hate Trump and his Cabinet. South Park at least tries to be funny.
I watched that incident live. Hmm, It never occurred to me contemporaneously or later that there was anything wrong nor even particularly notable about it.
We’re being invited to equate this purposeful episode with dementia? I’ll pass. Looks to me like he was tweaking the fuckers who hate the ballroom…
I forgot. Do we still like corporate welfare?
As soon as Trump started on about bringing down the price of oil, they started losing interest and there in lies the biggest blocker to his and their future investment plans.
Do you realize how stupid that is? You don't, do you?
I think Trump was being disarming. It's a power move. Like the weave.
It's not that Trump has dementia. It's that he thinks his target audience has dementia. That's why he's always doing the distractions to get your mind off the fact that the oil companies aren't doing his bidding and it keeps your mind off of that. Of course this Venezuelan oil thing is just another distraction to keep your mind off of Epstein files.
SNL rarely ever touched Biden(D) - their guy.
Screw SNL.
Jesus, Althouse. That's not a power move, that's trying to change the conversation. He's losing that particular debate and he knows it so he's switching to another shiny object.
The real Trump is funnier. So are a lot of online parodies. Having this impersonator and whoever writes his lines replaced by AI would be a blessing.
"Don't read this note out loud" -- Didn't Biden essentially do that on various occasions? Reading the stage directions off the teleprompter out loud. Accidentally letting us see the cards that told him what to say and who he was talking to.
SNL isn't funny. Mrs. Scarlett Johansson does a terrible Hegseth. The no names doing Marco and JD are wallpaper. The Trump guy holds his own, making up for bad writing.
The guy running the meeting letting the self-important executives know their unimportance compared to the guy running the meeting is a simple, old fashioned power move.
God that was so horrible. Bad comic acting and bad writing. And leftwing. The main problem is Trump is x10 funnier than the hack who impersonating him. And all comedy starts with the assumption that the audience is libtard and buys into every convential view of Trump and Republicans.
Go back and look at Will Ferrell's Bush to see how to satirze a Republican POTUS and be funny.
"Having this impersonator and whoever writes his lines replaced by AI would be a blessing."
Interesting. I thought the lines WERE written by AI.
We're over 10 years into "The Trump era" and SNL still can't satirize him and be funny. But then they had a wake after Trump got elected with Libtard comedians holding hands and crying on stage.
You can't see actual power moves. You feel it later. This was weakness shrouded in the privilege of power.
Dana Carvey who's in semi-retirement, developed a funny Joe Biden. Did anyone else? Name all the slashing satire of biden on SNL. Name all the cutting edge comedy attacking Obama. I doubt you can come up with much. The attacks on Hillary/Clinton were much better.
Listening to SNL related podcasts and the question of "Wasn't SNL funnier back in xxxx?" is usually answered with "You just thought it was funnier because you were young then, and it got imprinted on your brain". Another podcaster came up with a answer I'd never heard that "It wasn't as good as you remember. You dont remember 90 percent of the show was crap".
You can understand the refusal. People in "The industry" don't want to admit the "new stuff" is crap and worse than it was before. Their living depends on people watching and buying "the new stuff". And old comediens don't like criticizing those in the spotlight for obvious reasons.
I only made it through 3 minutes, not out of anger but rather a discontentment with how lame and unfunny it was.
I can appreciate a good parody of anyone; this is witless, banal and lacking any comic energy.
Is this the best SNL can do? I guess so.
The dude has Trump’s voice and inflection down cold - I closed my eyes and it sounded flawless. But, as the easiest target for parody in history, they sure came up short.
he multitasks, kind of like the phil hartman reagan sketch
Nobody gets angry at a comedy show. Except for leftists who rage and cry when someone makes a joke they don't like. All the anger and rage is on the Left. I was re-reading the Al Franken posts on Althouse, and he was the sui generius (sic) libtard. He was known for his outrage and anger directed at Republicans and Conservatives, yet when he got Me-tooed he broke down and cried like a little girl. Tough guy (LOL).
They haven't been funny for at least 30 years.
SNL should do more satire of "Cry-bullies", because its hilarious when those who dish it out find themselves having to "Take it". Usually with tears and lamatations. Whenever I want a laugh i read about the mass-killers in Stalin's politboro crying and moaning when the "The Great Leader" sent them to execution chamber.
some of will (last names) skits were funny,
100% power move. Trump interrupted his meeting with oil execs and waxed lovingly about the BB Ballroom. They had to sit silently until he returned to THEIR agenda. At his choice of time.
Speaking of Bush, anyone else here a fan of Frank J Fleming's "In My World" series on IMAO.us? Totally hilarious send up a W, Laura, Condi, "The Rumsfeld Strangler", and many more. (Frank J writes for the Babylon Bee now iirc)
I couldn't watch it for more than 30 seconds. We;ve been watching old David Letterman shows and they are actually funny. Great one liners. Dog tricks. What has happened to comedy?
oh those were classic, thats why the Bee seems truthy, (the trick is the time machine)
Zerohedge says that investors are worried that if Trump gets clobbered in the mid-terms, that the economic good times will be over.

well lets endeavor not to do that, shall we,
We all exist in some sort of information ecology in which certain ideas and events have a prominence that pushes us to believe the things we need to believe in order to survive within that ecology. For SNL writers the central survival imperative is that Trump is bad in every possible way. That isn't conducive to lots of hilarity.
But then they had a wake after Trump got elected with Libtard comedians holding hands and crying on stage
I enjoyed that…
baghdadbob: "100% power move."
Yes, Trump lived thru LBJ. He's been thinking for the last 50-plus years: "how can I whip my dick out without, you know, literally whipping my dick out?" And he has lots of answers. CC, JSM
I did like SNL Trump's line about "My Cabinet of Curiosities - a collection of freaks and monsters from the mind of Guillermo Del Trumpo" before he introduced SNL Rubio, Vance, and Hegseth. That's another line that both sides can like. You better believe we're sending freaks and monsters against this country's enemies! Kind of like Gutfeld's pirate-ship analogy for the 47 Admin. CC, JSM
There is a small-d democrat in the White House. The kinda Democrat we had during Clinton administration. Go thru the policies, one by one, Trump aligns more with Bill Clinton's former presidential administration policies than progressive-liberal-socialist-activist democrats do now.
Witness: Gabbard and RFK Jr.
Not IL: "There is a small-d democrat in the White House."
C'mon man - stop talking about Trump's wiener! CC, JSM
More seriously, Clinton banged the drum for GATT and NAFTA, and bringing the ChiComs into global trade. Trump is pushing back against 30 years of momentum from these. CC, JSM
Trump is funnier than the SNL writers, and Vance embraces humor directed at him, so neither of those guys work well for SNL.
I liked the Hegseth bit. The gym-bro character gives them something to work with.
It's a shame they are so partisan, there is so much they could do with the Democrats, but can't.
I think the only way I would watch SNL again is if they brought surviving members of the original/previous cast back for a week to be the entire cast for the show. Despite the wrinkles and balding they couldn't do worse and possibly could do better.

SNL is stupid.
Kill Tony is actually funny.
Ann wouldn't want to watch Shane Gillis though.
And they make fun of Biden which is illegal.
Noem's accent was way off, a poor imitation of Fey's intentionally overdone take on Palin's accent.
The Hegseth bit had potential but theater kid resentment of the jocks took over.
I came here to beat the dead horse, but decided that was silly. It's dead.
The people who still think SNL is cutting edge funny (or funny at all) are like the peasant crowds in "The Emperor's New Clothes"
C'mon man - stop talking about Trump's wiener!
Yeah! That's lonejustice's job.
The writers at SNL are just lazy. There are dozens of things each week that could be lampooned, but every cold opening is Johnson playing Trump.
Has SNL done anything about the "Learing Center" or the "Adult Day Care" owners having their Lamborghinis towed?
Or the Tim Walz meltdown?
(Don't tell me--I know the answer).
They really think "J.D. Vance wears eye shadow" is a clever joke.
As a wise man once said: "Sad. Very Sad."
