ICE and Border Patrol agents operate with the understanding that they can treat anyone—including U.S. citizens—however they choose, with virtually no risk of serious consequences from their agencies or the government. They know the Trump administration will allow such behavior to continue unchecked.

It’s as if the pardoned Jan. 6 rioters all got hired by the Trump administration—and now they’re running Border Patrol and ICE.

mikee చెప్పారు...

I like to recall the 1980s era CBE (Customs and Border Enforcement) officer interviewed by the local student paper at Texas A&M, after a raid to arrest illegals working on the new alumni center. The undergrad reporter asked, "How do you know which workers are citizens and which ones aren't?" The agent laconically replied, "Well, we generally suspect the ones who take to runnin' away when our vehicles pull up at the worksite."

More seriously, I note that the Mayor does not address hot pursuit rules and precedents. Could be interesting to have an illegal run from ICE into a residence, and have a dozen ICE agents follow on, with subsequent arrest of all and sundry illegals inside. What's the law, Professor?

tim maguire చెప్పారు...

Schools are not private spaces. Otherwise, it seems like a useful summary of what to expect and how you should behave when approached by ICE.

john mosby చెప్పారు...

The best advice anyone can give to anyone else in dealing with any sort of police is:

Shut Up. Comply Now. Complain Later.

The last 10-20 years of telling people what the police can't do, gives a lot of people the completely wrong idea that they can actively resist police doing those things.

Yes, you always have the right to keep your door closed. But you can't push back on it.

So many videos being put out by the left have people getting in LE's way, even in public spaces, saying "let me see the warrant first." That's not how it works. If it turns out at the end of it all that they didn't have a warrant or one of the 36 exceptions to the general rule, then you get money and/or the satisfaction of seeing a cop locked up. At the time, you don't get to slow them down by asking for the paperwork.

Do you stop the UPS guy heading up your neighbor's walk, asking to see the address on that package?

Makes even less sense to interrupt and distract LE to see their papers.

All this is a long way of saying Madmani is giving people the idea they can resist and impede FLEOs without saying so explicitly. CC, JSM

Really the problem here is the parasitism of the left.

People like Mamdani are nothing if they don't have other people's money.

john mosby చెప్పారు...

Oh and Madmani is totally leaving out Terry stops and on-view probable-cause arrests. There is no paper to show in those cases, in federal law as well as state. Does Mamdani want random bystanders to question NYPD stops and on-view arrests, too? What does Commish Tisch think of this? CC, JSM

Ah, the projection of the Left.
What's ACTUALLY true is that the LEFT has assumed that THEY could treat cops / ICE however they wished, violate any law they wished, kill anyone they wished (at least 25 people killed during the George Floyd riots, countless businesses burned down)

Now they're really bitter that FAFO is hitting THEM.

It’s as if the pardoned Jan. 6 rioters all got hired by the Trump administration—and now they’re running Border Patrol and ICE.
Gosh, you mean they're doing to left wing protesters what teh Biden FBI did to J6 protesters?
This, right here, is world class stupid on display. Kak's literally saying "how dare those meanies treat us the way we treated the J6 protesters!!?!"

Well, shit for brains, we "dare" to follow all precedents you create. if you don't want bad things happening to you, don't create the precedent by doing bad things to us

Achilles చెప్పారు...

"He does not lie," is not the same as "He speaks the truth."

You are smart enough to know the difference.

You are just posting this in bad faith if you give Mamdani any benefit of the doubt.

Mamdani wants illegals in the country because they vote for him. He doesn't want secure elections because he would lose. He is willing to take money from Americans to pay his voters.

He will never say that part out loud so he has cover from people like Ann.

Kakistocracy చెప్పారు...

Trumpism isn’t authoritarianism imposed on a reluctant America. It’s authoritarianism rising in a country where a substantial plurality already consists of eager authoritarian bootlickers who laid the groundwork for it.

joe చెప్పారు...

He got one major thing wrong. He said that ICE might show you paper work that looks like this (and then an administrative warrant came on the screen) and tell you this document gives them the authority to arrest. Then he says, "that's not true." That is a false statement. An administrative warrant absolutely gives ICE the right to arrest the person identified in the warrant. The difference is that an administrative warrant (as opposed to a judicial warrant) does not confer the right to entire private property or non-public spaces to carry out the arrest. But in any public space it surely does confer the right to arrest.

rehajm చెప్పారు...

Yes he makes a lawyerly swipe at self promotion here. There’s some of the usual leftie playing with the meanings of words and stringing words together that make it sound like something else. Yah they may legally lie and trick you into compliance but if you have outstanding warrants then yes they’re gonna break down the door and that’s A-okay. The rest of you guilty of just being illegal go ahead and stay in your homes until we they warrants for you, too. You’re vulnerable everywhere else…

rehajm చెప్పారు...

Your vehicle isn’t a sanctuary either. There’s enough working in their favor that you’re a sitting duck pretty much everywhere. There’s financial incentives for you to leave and maybe someday you’ll be invited back legally. You don’t have to go home but you can’t stay here…

Ralph L చెప్పారు...

He should have listed the reasons ICE can arrest you regardless of your legal status, and what constitutes breaking federal law. There are some fools who will continue to believe Good did nothing wrong or reckless and will act similarly just for spite.

Christopher B చెప్పారు...

joe, that also sounds like a lie of omission as a LEO has the authority to arrest anyone they see committing a crime in their presence, and obstructing their operations is a crime. The implication that they have to have paperwork to execute an arrest is similar to the half-truth that KakaBich and others have been promoting that ICE doesn't have authority to arrest or detain US citizens.

That could save a lot of grief for everyone and prevent deaths like Renee Good if ICE could collect the person from the jail instead of having to go out into the community.
Whose side is Mamdani on? Society or the criminals?

Mary Beth చెప్పారు...

IANAL, but when he shows the second paper and says that ICE will say it means they have the right to arrest you and that is true but misleading, based on what I can see on that paper. It says they have the right to take the named person into custody for removal. They may not have the right to search a home or business for you, but if they have encountered you, it looks as though they can take you into custody. The difference between "arrest" and "take into custody" is meaningless at that point in time because either way, you have to go with them.

We'll give you arrested criminals, if you give up on workplace arrests. Something like that......Somalia, Uganda and places like that have ongoing civil wars that have gone of for generations. Don't bring them here.

john mosby చెప్పారు...

I wonder what the legality is of federal agents busting into state facilities. The state is the junior sovereign, after all. You can’t make the state voluntarily cooperate. But the land simultaneously belongs to the state and the USA. And the state is not a natural person, and the state is not the defendant in the underlying immigration case, so no exclusionary rule. At most the state might be able to file a federal tort claims act complaint, right?

Of course in the practical world you want to avoid FLEOs fighting state LEOs. But that assumes a practical world of honest brokers on all sides. CC, JSM

FormerLawClerk చెప్పారు...

Here's some more useful advice:

You aren't required to pay taxes. You are required to FILE an income tax return, but you don't have to pay. Eventually, the government will sell off your debt to a lawyer group who will run radio ads trying to convince you they can help you get out of your IRS debt, when in fact, the lawyer group has already bought the debt (or will) for pennies on the dollar and then convince you to go on a payment plan. It's all fake.

We don't have debtors prisons in the US and the IRS cannot put you in prison UNLESS you either cheat on your taxes or refuse to file. But they cannot touch you IF YOU DON'T PAY.

So stop paying, morons. Hood rat Somalians are stealing all the money you're sending the IRS.

Stop paying.

If paying could land you in jail then the Rev. Al Sharpton would be in jail. He dutifully filed his income tax return. He just never paid.

He still owes $4.2 million in back taxes and the IRS cannot arrest him. Because it's not a crime to not pay. He wasn't even outed by the IRS. He was outed by the New York Times when he became inconvenient. He still owes millions. You are the sucker if you are paying.

STOP. PAYING. TAXES.

Paraphrasing Howard (that Howard), it's extreme Federalism Democrats like, also known as State's Rights v2.0. The Federal government can not order state and local officials to perform duties on behalf of the Feds, and immigration enforcement is 100% a Federal responsibility which per the USSC states can't even perform if they wish to. That's why things the Federal government wants states to do are always expressed as a condition of receiving Federal funds at least somewhat related to the desired actions. The Feds can't order the states to do something but they can make receiving funds contingent on it. Carried to its illogical extreme even a phone call notifying ICE that an illegal alien has been apprehended can be prohibited by state and local rules.

Interstate highways, airports, and docks and locks are built in the interior to allow transcontinental shipment of crops and food and other goods and people. Military bases are built in flyover country so liberal shitbirds like TeaBagHag are protected but won't complain about fascist buzz-cut Alabamian pilots flying too low over their soy milk and KY jelly orgies in San Francisco.

Becca Good made $1,500,000 off Renee's death. So it's all good, man.

All you liberal women are going to love the future.

"Muslims teaching Americans about rights."

Someone has to try. We're not getting anything but lies, boasts, and lunacy from the moron who claims/boasts/lies he "has the best brain."

Besides, anyone who can cheer on or consider ICE (the American Gestapo) as a legitimate "police force" has no understanding of or regard for rights.

"Is a socialist politician allowed to lie as well?"

"Allowed" is not the right term, but "as likely to do so or not to do so" as any other politician, given their respective characters. If lies cannot be detected, one must assume he or she is probably speaking honestly. Where lies are detected in a socialist politician, it is as unacceptable as the lies (often) spoken by "capitalist" politicians.

Have you detected any lies in Mamdini here?

You first. This has been going on for a long time. I met people who thought this was a good idea. They were living in their car .Or a relatives basement.
There are all kinds of legal ways for tax avoidance not paying is a good way to lose everything.

Commissar Cook. If you were ever approached by the Geheime Staatspoliezi you'd shit yourself.
You and the hag are obviously too stupid to understand the concept of "illegal".
Are queers being rounded up? How about college professors? Communists? Jews? Romani? No? Then quit trivializing history.
