"Democratic Gov. Tim Walz announced Monday he is dropping his bid for reelection in Minnesota, a dramatic turn for the two-term governor who gained national prominence..."

"... as his party’s 2024 vice-presidential nominee but now faces intense scrutiny over welfare fraud investigations in his state.... Democrats had grown increasingly worried about Walz’s choice to seek a third term as Republicans, including President Donald Trump, put a spotlight on the fraud issue, which federal prosecutors have been investigating for several years. GOP influencers, a viral video and new information from authorities — who say the scams could be far bigger than previously known and reach into the billions of dollars — have drawn more attention to allegations that scammers stole brazenly from Minnesota safety net programs for services they never provided.... 'We’ve got the President of the United States demonizing our Somali neighbors and wrongly confiscating child care funding that Minnesotans rely on,' Walz said, referencing a federal freeze on some child care funding in response to the fraud issue. 'It is disgusting. And it is dangerous.'"

From "Walz drops bid for reelection as Minn. governor while Klobuchar considers run/The former Democratic vice presidential nominee stepped aside amid a growing fraud inquiry" (WaPo reports).

It was dangerous. To Walz.

Walz is a traitor and just as bad as Maduro.

If Trump can't put America first taking care of our problems here arresting enemies in Venezuela is a waste of time.

We are still shoveling billions of dollars to fraud farms all over the country. Trump isn't doing shit about that.

The politics in this state are awful. The DFL controls the metro area and the areas outstate have been absolutely seething for years now about the way the DFL runs things. The Somali business is the most obvious manifestation of the rot here, but it's been a festival of malfeasance for years.

The feds have been the ones pursuing all of this, and the work started before Trump's team was in place. Biden's US Attorney, Andrew Luger, did a lot of work on Feeding Our Future. Joe Thompson has been the point man for the various investigations and prosecutions, both under Luger and now Daniel Rosen. He's been claiming the fraud is in the billions and he's likely correct. There's a lot more fraud out there and the best face you can put on it is that Walz was oblivious.

The word we're hearing is Amy Klobuchar is going to run for governor, which is the right move for the DFL, as she hasn't had any direct involvement with the scandals at the state level. She'll have a good chance to win, because the state Republican party here is inept and always gets outspent at least 10-1 on campaign advertising and GOTV. Equally important, the candidates the GOP runs tend to alternate between milquetoast types or oddballs. No current announced Republican candidate has what it takes to get past the noise machine.

Oh, they exploited each other equally. Somali's come from a lawless darwinian society where you grab what you can and where graft is built into the political system. Democrats create giant loopholes that the natural grifters easily exploit.

Walz will waltz away knowing his "I'm a knucklehead" defense won't easrn him a higher office but is just enough to insulate him from actual prosecution when the most egregious are jailed over the various MN frauds.

Like Walz the vast majority of the "in on it" Somali community — the ones who "enrolled" their children, got the kickbacks, went along with the schemes — will skate by for the simple reason there isn't enough manpower in the DOJ to prosecute them all. Just like there are not enough immigration judges to hear all the appeals and process all the deportees who deserve to be booted out.

Obama's advisers were slick and shameless and the Cloward-Piven "overwhelm the system" has been a roaring success in destabilizing communities. But it was also one HUGE failure in nationwide unrest, which is what they really wanted and tried to gin up using BLM and then J6.

”…investigating for several years.”

Investigating?? Prosecuting for several years. And getting convictions — about 70 so far, with a further 70 indicted and awaiting trial. And all those charged were involved in only one Walz-connected fraud scheme, Feeding Our Future, a COVID meal program “for children” that served no food to anyone except the fraudsters in addition to luxury cars, palatial homes, and Islamic terrorism in Africa.

Several days ago The Mirror, one of Kier Starmer’s mouthpieces, published an article titled “The Real Face of Fraud” as an attack on Will Shirley. The writer showcased a woman called Aimee Bock who was one of the first indicted to be convicted. The article mentioned no one else who has been convicted or charged because Bock is white and apparently not a Muslim. The article was, of course, nothing but a tissue of lies by omission since everyone else connected with Feeding Our Future is a Somali Muslim, excepting Tim Walz and Keith Ellison.

The play here is to get it over with and clear the deck in Minnesota. I don't doubt similar fraud exists elsewhere and it's likely the Trump Justice Department will continue to pursue it all, but that's not the concern of the local apparat.

As for it being a demotion for Klobuchar, I see your point, but she's taking one for the team. The real concern for the DFL is the other senate seat, which will be open because Tina Smith is retiring. Walz at the top of the ticket would have jeopardized that as well. If Klobuchar wins, and I think she's likely to win, she will be able to appoint her own successor. If somehow the Republicans find a way to win, Klobuchar will still have her seat in the Senate.

Perfectly possible. Back before I retired and moved away from the DC area the local papers had plenty of articles about the laziness and stupidity of Kamala Harris. And let’s not forget that Shapiro is Jewish, and at that time the Democrats were displaying a serious antisemitic streak, young people wearing keffiyehs on campus, threats of violence against Jews, etc. That might have made Harris wonder whether he would have cost her votes.

I don't know, if you think about it, language is based on metaphor as soon as you get to levels of abstraction, and what metaphors did Indians have? A huge percentage of the English language is based on nautical metaphors, if you change the reference base of a speaker, and deny them all but natural metaphors, lines like "The great traveler will reach the waters in three suns" as an answer to "how long 'til we get there," makes perfect sense. Especially if they are translating directly from their language to English word for word, instead of concept for. concept, like we might translate between modern French and modern English, two languages with extensive literatures.
