So it's all very simple and anyone who says otherwise is sinister, and to boil it down to that isn't politicizing anything. It's the other side that's doing the politicizing, those bad people over there.
I remember when Democrats liked to portray themselves as sophisticated, seeing all the complexity and nuance. Now, they're pushing the idea it's all quite simple. It's black and white. So... binary.
The top-rated comment over there is interesting. Jose writes: "As a gay man, I have almost nothing in common with transgender people beyond both being minorities. I wish them well: adults should be free to live in the body that feels right to them, and no one should face discrimination or violence. Yet many gay men and lesbians strongly object to being told we are part of the same 'community' or that same-sex attraction is just another form of 'gender identity.' The author of the article pushes back gently — gay people and trans people share "gender nonconformity" — and Jose responds:

There is something astonishingly outrageous about Biden claiming that the Republicans turned the trans issue into a political issue. IIRC, before Obama the 'T' was rather inconsequential -- accepted as an odd part of the family but never demanding a lot of attention. What happened to turn the 'T' into the major source of divisiveness now? I do not know. I am sure there is a story there, with lots and lots of institutional money involved -- the Open Society, etc. Was there an intention by some groups to use gender to destabalize our society? But we saw how Obama and then Biden deliberately hired transgenders in visible positions, opened the military to paying for transgender surgeries, supported men in women's sports and demanded entry into women's private spaces, the educational indoctrination about pronouns, drag queen story hour, etc., expectation that political appointees refuse to define what a woman is, etc. This issue has gone far beyond the simple demand that transgenders be guaranteed equal rights in jobs and housing, which every citizen deserves.
There has been more pushback by the LGB in the UK and separation from the T. One difference is that the T lobby in the UK hasn't received anywhere near the financial support and political influence they have in the US.
