Clyde's Top 15 Favorite "New" Songs of 2025 - Part 12 of 16 #5 - Bleu - "Freak Me Out" - Blizzard of '05 EP (2007)
I'm stretching the rules almost to the breaking point to get this song in, but hey, it's my list. Bleu (born William James McAuley III) is a Boston-based musician, singer and music producer. He's created a lot of great power pop music, including this song. We'll be hearing from him again later in the countdown.

Clyde's Top 15 Favorite "New" Songs of 2025 Bonus Song #1 - Bleu - "Could Be Worse (RRC)" - (2016)
Bleu released his first album, Redhead, in 2003. In 2016, he released the Redhead Record Club version of the album. This song was on both versions, although this is the Alternate Party Mix, so it's slightly different than the original. There is a music video, but it's really poor quality, so I'm just going to throw this audio version your way.
I watched the whole Shawn Ryan - Hunter Biden interview today. Because nothing says Xmas like a SEAL interviewing an addict?
Ryan mostly followed the old cop rule - "if the suspect's talking, let him talk." So Hunter was allowed to say a lot of things unchallenged. Toward the very end, when Hunter said he couldn't have gotten a fair trial for the things his father pardoned. Ryan did jump in and ask if that was true for Trump. Hunter actually agreed.
Hunter even said a converse of one of Gutfeld's rules: if you call me the worst things you can think of - paedo, Hitler, corruptocrat, etc - then no wonder some people are going to want to do something about it. He said this in reference to some incidents where random citizens confronted him on the street. He didn't extend the logic to Trump, nor did Ryan invite him to.
Overall, Hunter seems like a guy from a millionaire political family angry at guys from a billionaire political family. He made a lot of digs at Don Jr. He constantly defended the appropriateness of putting him on boards, including Burisma, because of his Yale Law degree and his bottom-up experience on bigger and bigger boards.
Weirdly, he attacked the evidentiary integrity of the laptop, but then basically admitted to doing at least some of the stuff on there: the sex and drugs, not the political corruption. His logic was all over the place, and at one point he used the OJ Clause: "if I did it...."
Shawn Ryan also talked about some of his own drug experiences, which I never knew about.
So it's worth a listen. You can speed it up to 1.75 with no loss of intelligibility. CC, JSM

Liz Oyer served as U.S. Pardon Attorney from April 2022 to March 2025. Before her appointment, Oyer worked for ten years as a federal public defender with the District of Maryland.
Goodness! The headlines Kak cites certainly paint a picture of disaster! Corporate bankruptcies soar! Americans are tired of something and might go with something else! Nigerians are confused! Trump is making a mockery of something again! The Trump administration is rife with villains! Iran hates the US, and also Israel and Europe!
Any "newz" outlet who has fraud Jake Tapper(D) on their payroll is dead to me. 4 years of Biden - and Tapper insulted and condemned the slightest peep from a guest who intimated that Joe Biden might have cognitive deficiencies. 2 seconds after Kamala loses, Tapper writes a book called "I was duped about Joe Biden!"
Liz Oyer oversaw the pardon of J6’ers. Trump didn’t want to pardon all of them, but he was told it would be too difficult to work through who actually committed violence and who was railroaded. That advice likely came from Liz Oyer.
She’s the same pardon attorney that advised Biden in pardoning Adrian Peeler, who executed a mom and her 8 year old son; Leonard Peltier, who murdered 2 FBI Agents; and Ferrone Claiborne and Terence Richardson, who admitted to killing a Virginia police officer. Some of those pardons were signed by autopen.
Then there are the pardons of Biden’s son, and then later Biden’s wife and brother. Not just a pardon for some specific alleged crime, but for any federal criminal act committed in over a decades time.
It is chicken shits like Liz Oyer that convinced people in the past that tar and feathers was an appropriate punishment.
“Trump didn’t want to pardon all of them, but he was told it would be too difficult to work through who actually committed violence and who was railroaded.” Very smart move to pardon them all. Topic off the table. Blaming it on someone other than Trump, even better move.
Maybe someday the story will be told about the preparatory work that went into Trump’s second term. It seems to me that Team Trump is attacking the deep state from all angles at a very fast pace. This isn’t being done on the fly. I’m sure they’re also taking advantage of weaknesses and events as they arise. But so much of this must have been preplanned.
Some thoughts on Trump’s insane rant on Christmas Day…
“Given this public comment and the long-term relationship between the two, if I wanted to understand more about possible co-conspirators and accomplices, funding, and the full range of Jeffrey Epstein’s criminality—what his long time party buddy learned that was so bad that Trump dropped Epstein before the Florida prosecution made it all public—I would want an interview with Donald Trump. If I were still a prosecutor, I’d send out two FBI agents to have a chat with him. As far as I’m aware, the Supreme Court has never said presidents can’t be witnesses.
It not unlikely that we’ll have congressional hearings on the matter at some point, although that may have to await Democratic majorities in one or both houses of Congress following the midterm elections. The man looks like a witness. I say, give him a subpoena if he won’t come in voluntarily to testify.”
Things could get very interesting when Democrats gain the majority in the House, Senate, or both after the Midterms.
Tar and feather is an appropriate punishment for misbehaving elected/appointed government officials abusing their power. Not supposed to be capital punishment, so remember- pine tar and feathers, not hot tar and feathers.
Riding the rail should also be brought back for exiling unwanted people from towns and villages. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Riding_a_rail
Okay, so on Christmas Day, Scott Adams listed Team Trump and Trump-adjacent members along with their counterparts. Plus, I’ve added a few. Markets are looking through Trump, which makes sense—his is a cult of personality. MAGA is very unlikely to continue with the same force under Vance or Rubio. In one year, Trump’s power will be substantially curbed when the House flips. The Fed, for all the hand waving, is likely to maintain its independence even if the chair is political.
What is not temporary are the extreme imbalances in the US. Inequality is straining the very social fabric. Public debt is reaching a crisis level. The current account has been out of whack for so long that people have forgotten that it must one day correct.

Corporate bankruptcies surged in 2025, rivaling levels not seen since the immediate aftermath of the Great Recession … ——Washington Post
I can't view the WaPo article. Do they mention specific companies? When I do a search for the phrase, "Corporate bankruptcies surged in 2025" I get information such as, "There were 32 "mega bankruptcies" (companies with over $1 billion in assets) in the 12 months ending in June 2025" and "Major corporations that filed for bankruptcy in 2025 included the hospitality company Sonder, Spirit Airlines, Del Monte Foods, retailer Claire's, and the CVS Health subsidiary Omnicare".
I have never run a major corporation, but I would be very surprised if one went from financially healthy to bankrupt in under six months. I think it's reasonable to assume that the ones that filed by June were having problems before Trump took office.
Of the list of named companies I found, Omnicare's bankruptcy was a result of losing a lawsuit over illegal billing. Claire's was in July, but it was also not the first time they filed. Del Monte filed July 1 and Spirit in March. Sonder seems to be the only one of those that filed after mid-year but I don't see how Trump is to blame. More like bad, even evil, management.
Blame four years of bad governance by the autopen, not the guy who took office only a few months before they filed.
“According to data from S&P Global Market Intelligence, which tracks public and private companies of a certain size, bankruptcy filings climbed to 717 through November, topping last year's tally of 687.
Even without December figures, 2025 has already logged the highest annual count for large corporate bankruptcies since 2010, when filings totaled 828, according to S&P Global.”
If Democrats are polling in the teens, how is it possible there will be a blue wave in 2026? Are the DemMedia feeding the country more Harris 2024 happy talk? For the umpteenth time it's the beginning of the end for Trump.

“Corporate bankruptcies surged in 2025, rivaling levels not seen since the immediate aftermath of the Great Recession … ——Washington Post”
Trying to blame this on Trump is silly. Their balance sheets didn’t suddenly go bad just because Trump was elected. the most likely occurrence is that their cheap debt was having to be rolled over into higher more expensive debt. or in other words, inflation related. That was all caused by Biden and the Democrats pouring trillions into the economy for covid relief.
I actually agree. That would be intellectually lazy and would ignore the complexity of economic systems, lagging indicators, and long-term financial decisions. It would be allowing partisan loyalty to override even the most basic critical thinking.
But then comes:
“That was all caused by Biden and the Democrats pouring trillions into the economy for COVID relief.”
@ Political Junkie: Investment-grade credit spreads have tightened to just 79 basis points—near the lowest levels this century (as tracked by funds like $LQD).
This reflects a diminished risk premium on corporate bonds, with yields only modestly higher than those on U.S. Treasuries. Typically, such tight spreads signal strong economic confidence, as investors perceive a low likelihood of corporate defaults.
