That's one of the best political ads I've ever seen. This video is excellent too:
@annalissroy Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas), who is running for a U.S. Senate seat in Texas, reacted to House Speaker Mike Johnson saying he is “delighted” about her campaign, and comparing Crockett to New York Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani.

She looks like she oozes stupidity to me.
That's one of the best political ads I've ever seen.
Women hate it when the sisterhood is questioned.
If you call a woman stupid it instantly rallies women who hate bell curves.
It doesn't matter if the woman is stupid or not.
If Beto O'Rourke was black and had tits, he'd be Jasmine Crockett.
To each their own. I'm not seeing greatness in that ad.
Interesting. I still think that she's several cards missing from a full deck, and she will not be elected.
Both videos will definitely get her through the primary.
They will attract a lot of people on the left side of the bell curve.
Her rallying cry can be "Idiots unite!"
It's absolutely a smart video, because she's only posing and not speaking. Posing is what the Donks do these days. Once she begins to speak, Bad Orange Man's description makes sense.
I'm noticing that YouTube is demanding that one signs in before showing the video to 'protect' their clientele from 'bots'. Seems to be due to using a VPN.
JC is not stupid, put that idea out of your heads. She's politically savvy and is a pretty face to boot. I don't think she has any real policy goals other than self promotion, but that sells in todays political climate. I don't think she can beat Cornyn, but that may not be the goal. I think 2028 is the goal.
Head to the bottom for Jasmine Skankette's greatest hits.
It would be a great ad in a blue or purple state, but I don't think it will generate enough introspection for anyone to examine their default voting habits. And that's her problem in Texas.
Her policies are a heavy lift for Texas….
Oh please, this is a good political campaign ad? It's more MTV video circa Madonna mid-1980s, complete with the heavy make-up and bling. Maybe Crockett thinks she's the next Mary J. Blige, to be star of political stage. But she sure doesn't telegraph "vote for me; I've got your back".
Trump may speak the unpleasant truths and make rude comments about his political opponents, but this ad fails to invalidate the "low IQ" quips.
"This idea that you gotta sound like a Republic to win..."
What distinguished the second video from most of Crockett's prior public statements was how much more she sounded like a Republican.
"Her policies are a heavy lift for Texas…."
I love the smell of fat jokes in the morning.
Low bar? For the easily duped?
But then she opens her mouth and speaks in her “faux ghetto patois”…
Ghetto Barbie for President!!! Make America Ghetto is her rallying cry...since she talks like a gang member, and not an educated black woman.
They think they’re gathering the sound bites for their post election victory YT rolls…
That's interesting--I thought the ad was very ineffective in terms of persuading anyone to support her. It's different/unique but "Trump says mean things about me but I'm a proud (Black) woman despite that" doesn't do much for me. Maybe Prof. Althouse is a better target!
Someone should post the video of Crockett making excuses for wrongly accusing a fellow Rep. of taking money from Jefferey Epstein (it was a different Epstein, donation made after the bad Epstein was already dead, and she blamed Republicans for not giving her time to get her facts straight--no apology).
Personally I'm looking forward to seeing someone run on gun control in TX. The Dems will have a massive advantage on national party money to spend for this campaign cycle (likely 3x what Repubs will have, min) so we'll see how much of it they put behind Crockett.
The folks who made the first ad must have listened to what Speaker Johnson said in the 2nd ad, because they gave her a camera, but no microphone.
She's a work in progress. Looks like she's learning.
What she said in the 2nd ad didn't make sense. Mamdani was elected to local office in NYC, not national office in the state of Texas. And are their really people who voted for Mamdani and AOC who voted for Trump? Damn few I'd bet.
“If Beto O'Rourke was black and had tits, he'd be Jasmine Crockett.”
AI is your friend… and that would be a sight!
It’s a fake it till you make it gambit. Let’s watch how it turns out. I think sooner or later they’ll be a reckoning with their unpopular policies even when they try to ignore it. Joe was in the lead in early August, too…

I don't think she is trying to win.
Her district got eliminated so she would have to run in a majority Trump district to stay in the house.
This is most likely a play for nationwide popularity for the 2028 democrat primary. It will matter little which democrat is nominated to run in 2028 as far as whether they win or lose the general.
That will be up to Trump. And Trump just called the affordability crisis a hoax so things are not looking up.
Listening to JC's ghetto banter, is as fingernails on a chalkboard as listening to Kamala's cackle.

My man you’re blowing my cover! I worked hard on that subtlety…
Was the ad really made by Crockett's people or actually by Cornyn's?
The opinions that are 180 degrees opposed to mine are the ones that show up with the best hair stylist and marketing savvy. Trump is about 20 degrees off my bearings, but his hairstyle and marketing savvy is what his opponents hate most.
Crawford's best friends and worst enemies will send this clip around the world and back in 24 hours. Her flawless skin, her hair and lips are like something out of a fantasy, but I can't talk about those as a cishet white boomer male. Then it gets creepy.
Ah, life in 2025. Soon to be 2026. Take notes. There will be a test at the end.
I perceive this as Crockett's exit strategy from the house. She's got her fame and a senate run will build on it. A representative's salary does not cut it for her. She's in arrears on her condo fees.
Rather than even hang around long enough until her lifetime pension vests, she'll roll the dice against huge odds. And why not? If she does not win the senate seat, she eyes the eventual media celebrity career as much more lucrative and wishes to accelerate that.
Republicans who promoted her appear to be running the same play Democrats used against MAGA candidates in the last few elections, but in reverse.
Trump is making the far lefties the "face" of the Democrat party. He wants Jasmine Crockett to be the Democrat candidate.
Remember he called Kamala a "low IQ person" as well.
Kamala also looked good until she opened her mouth.
I forgot she lost her safe district, which reinforces the point she's looking toward what comes after a long-shot senate run.
It's a great ad if you're addicted to Trump-hate. The ad does demonstrate that Trump should probably shut up and focus on things that matter. A pet peeve of mine is that he spends way too much time focusing on ankle-biters. He spends way too much time handing the left, gifts.
Trump's words do the opposite. They lift her up.
That said - the ad is creepy.
If you ever wanted to know what a campaign for higher office by that striving hoodrat Tiffany Henyard from Dolton, IL would've looked like, you're seeing it live, and you don't even need a palantir.
I got distracted by her blinking. In the beginning, it looked like an AI animation of a photo.
"My man you’re blowing my cover! I worked hard on that subtlety…"
Game recognize game. I was literally about to post something about her "running", but you got there first.
Achilles
Fair point, but it's delusional for anyone to believe America is going to elect a former rep just because they look the part. She will run into the same problems with black men that Kamala did. Everyone thinks they can be Trump. I think time has proved that no one can be Trump but Trump.
Trump became popular in part because he likes to call people names.
At this point - it's tired. When you've achieved the big cheese - the top dog - you are actually president of the united States, dude. Keep the edge, - fine.;. but lose the name-calling. It just makes Trump look small.
Though I suppose her grift is just to take money from AWFLs nationwide, not to win. Stacey Abrams style. In that case, carry on.
It's a great ad for the talk show she really wants and will eventually have. As a political ad, it's a low point. It makes clear what politicians are always trying to hide: that they themselves are the products being sold, like a bar of soap, and that issues and positions and policies don't matter. That's reinforced by the TikTok: we know that some people will vote for anyone who seems charismatic and inspiring, whatever their positions and policies, but politicians aren't supposed to say that because it would make them look like pure careerists and opportunists. The problem in her case is that her personality attracts attention but isn't inspiring or reassuring. The egotism is a little too naked. It certainly is in these two productions which are all about Jasmine herself and not what she will do for Texas.
Do the time, effort and money spent on the nails and lashes and accessories indicate how much Crockett is about performance and ego, rather than anything more substantive?
Althouse supports lefty extremism. She dropped the mask.
Leave the mocking of fake-hair and nails Jazzy to the rest of us, and focus.
She's such a fraud. A preacher's kid who was sent to expensive private schools, and now she's doing a poorly acted "gurl from the streets" act. She's middle aged (44) but dresses and uses makeup like she's in her 20s and even refers to herself as a "young leader." Their are so many bizarre, emotionally strange people in politics today. I don't know how that happened, but here we are.

If Trump keeps saying stupid shit like the affordability crisis is a hoax there is an opportunity for an Obama style election.
Do not forget that they can pull the plug on the national debt at any time and create a fiscal crisis that makes 2008 look tame.
@Achilles, the hoodrat is just hoodfat right now. This isn't even her final form! I see MuMus in her future.
Big Mike 9:39 - huh?
The ad makes Trump look Low IQ - for his immature name-calling. He's the president. Focus on what matters.
I'm no fan of fake-hair/ Lying liar who lies lunatic Jazzy - not at all. I hope she loses and is forced to go away. But Trump is actually elevating her. Why? Is he stupid? btw - where are Trump's people whispering in his ear to tell him to shut the fuck up and focus on what matters?
The ad says it's an Adwell production. This ad seems like a departure from their standard approach. A sampling of their work:
https://www.adwell.com/the-work/
so.. Where did Jasmine's ebonics voice go?
suddenly, she knows how to talk again..
It's ALMOST AS IF; the one voice was just a put on
Shes a dangerously ignorant woman but she had competition with talarico for the nomination
When compared to the Bernie Sanders "America" (Simon and Garfunkel) great campaign ad this one is just ...ok.
HUH? I did not see it. Must be a women thing.
One has to have deep contempt for the democrats to put her up
Do her eyelashes get their own separate line on the ballot?
That’s a good ad, but I would rate George Bush’s Revolving Door ad against Michael Dukakis as the best ad I’ve ever seen. I remember people talking about it on the streets of Boston.
What makes this ad good is that Trump sounds like an old wing nut, and Crockett’s response is just to stand tough and smile at the end.
Crockett is a great Texas name, by the way.
Althouse supports lefty extremism. She dropped the mask.
She just hates Trump with a purple passion, so much it motivated her to vote for Hillary! while claiming to loathe the Clintons. Which brings us to here commentary that this ad is ‘powerful’. A powerful ad is one that motivates people to question their positions, changes their mind, motivates to consider the presented alternative…not one that helps confirm what you already feel…
…I’ve seen plenty of Trump style venom from the left. There’s nothing here to convince me this woman is above it.
I discern mixed messages. JC's image up to now has been that of a young, black, female, and leftwing version of Trump: brash, crude, fearless, and not afraid to be a bully. However, in this incarnation, she's presenting herself as a model of stoicism in the face of Trump's bullying. Suddenly, she's dignified and reserved like Rosa Parks or Barbara Jordan. I can see the lefties getting all excited about this, for the same reason they were excited when Tim Walz was suddenly being branded as the personification of Midwestern masculinity. They THINK this sudden change of stripes will appeal to the rubes! But voters are actually pretty good at sniffing out calculated fakeness in politicians.
"When compared to the Bernie Sanders "America" (Simon and Garfunkel) great campaign ad this one is just ...ok."
Yeah, that ad was the greatest
Beto vs the Black Chick.
Political ads' efficacy is a function of timing. Election day is a long way off. So there's no point in specifics. Just create a vaporous sense of desirability.
Reminiscent of the Harris campaign's initial launch with the vacuous positioning around the themes of Joy and Brat.
If Jasmine wins. I don't understand Texas.
Yeah, that ad was the greatest
Perhaps I misunderstand the criteria- are we evaluating these ads for political effectiveness or entertainment value?
Competing with talarico this version of skippy o rourke
Allred wisely bowed out
She’s a Cockette, not a Crockett.
Abortion Barbie, Beta O’Rourke, and now this chick.
It is visually arresting, initially, but begins to grate on my nerves after about 10 seconds. The tik-tok thing is more clever (in the "reaction video" vein). She probably will not even win the primary.
It's been 37 years since a Democrat was elected Senator from Texas (Lloyd Bentsen). I would be surprised to see that change next year.
(and in the case of Sen. Bentsen I should say re-elected)
“ That's one of the best political ads I've ever seen.”
For the Republicans, I assume you mean. Crockett appears as dumb as a post, literally.
I think you're insulting posts
A white man dissing a black woman is an ill-advised political strategy.
Hey! Remember when the left laughed at Trump? And, most of the right. Even Limbaugh was against him at first. Most here thought he was a loser. Only one who said he would win from the beginning was commenter Mick.
To gain votes, trace lineage to Davy Crockett. If busted, claim she meant a different Davy Crockett
So she's running as not Trump?
I'm not certain that that is a great political ad. It will inflame the Democrat Angry White Female Liberal base. It will remind the MAGA faithful (dog whistle anyone?) that Trump doesn't like Crockett. We'll see how that balances out. But one thing for sure. Whether Crockett "hit the ground running" or not, she will be running her mouth. And that's going to hurt her.
Shes a contemptible human being are we to pretend otherwise
Looking forward to her hitting the ground leaving after a 2026 shellacking.
I guess if you hate Trump and reflexively oppose everything he does, says and stands for, it might be an effective spur for her potential supporters. If not, then, meh...
She is a horrible lying hack... But she is also unworthy of so much attention.

Which is why America now has President Harris.
It's a remarkable ad because it does the seemingly-impossible; it makes Jasmine Crockett a sympathetic character, at least within the confines of the ad itself.
I'll wager it resonates with a large number of people, and whoever produced it knew what the hell they were doing.
Just think of the $100 million in "campaign donations she will spread around her family as "consulting fees", only to have them given back when she loses.
Then, it's the bacarat tables at Monte Carlo, baby!!
She'd like to run against Trump, but if the R's in Texas are smart (debatable, based on available evidence), they should have her run against Barbara Jordan. Jordan's oratory is readily available. Put 30 seconds of any part of Jordan's 1976 convention speech up in an ad, then follow it up with any random 30 seconds of Crockett's deep thoughts.
The top ad is excellent, and it’s the best she could have done.
What tired bs.
My take on the ad is that she is playing the heroine/victim of the mean rich White guy.
It is yesterdays scam.
Just because she really is pretty dim does not mean it's not a very effective ad, which it is.
It was interesting ad for me, because I wanted her to state her accomplishments at end of the ad and she listed them!
Oh, but if WE say that she should be seen and not heard, it's a problem?
"It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to open one's mouth and remove all doubt."
Even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted wise: and he that shutteth his lips is esteemed a man of understanding.
-- Proverbs 17:28 (King James Version)
The ad reminds me of the "I am not a witch" Tea Party candidate from 10 or so years ago. She also lost. The ad will not have the intended effect.
They dont mind witches in the senate
JC is not stupid, put that idea out of your heads.
Yes. She is.

Now I wanna see someone take the video and do some AI where Crockett is vogueing like Madonna.
In her Tik-Tok video, when she says that there are people who voted for Mamdami, AOC etc who also voted for Trump, what she seems to be saying is that there are a lot of idiotic people who don't have the slightest idea what the hell they are voting for, and those are my target demographic.
She might not be wrong.
She should move to Indiana and run there. She'd be right at home with the other clowns.
The ad didn't make her a sympathetic character for me. Trump is putting on a performance that I don't take entirely seriously. So is Crockett. There aren't any real emotional depths in this. Is she dignified in the face of abuse? Not to me, and maybe not to anybody once she opens her mouth. Is she "low IQ"? She's impulsive and out of control, which makes a bad impression.
Democrats will pour millions of dollars into this race and lose by a lot.
An opposition ad could use the same footage, of her pretending to be composed and serene, posing in front of the high school senior yearbook portrait background, but with numerous audio samples of her usual ignorant, ratchet shit-talking.
Not enough Californians have moved to Texas yet.

I'm interested in why you(or anyone) would consider that an effective ad for a candidate. I am guessing that it is because you believe that President Trump is so disliked that anybody that he opposes is going to have a majority of support just to spite him. That may be true for Democrat Party members and AWFL's, but Trump won Texas easily 3 times, and has the two highest total votes for any presidential candidate in USA history, notwithstanding the fraudulent 81 million* for Creepy Joe in the stolen election of 2020. I don't see this ad persuasive in turning anyone toward choosing Crockett. What are you seeing?
Jasmine was educated at the most elite and most expensive private school in Missouri. Her parents are wealthy and the very highest class.
What I’m saying is that she expects to rule over lesser people and be given favors wherever she wants. That means she has no interest in poor people at all. she’s an elite cashing in on being black.
We had a similar candidate in Georgia named Stacey Abrams. She will claim victory belongs to her over and over.
So, basically Trump ....
"What I’m saying is that she expects to rule over lesser people and be given favors wherever she wants. That means she has no interest in poor people at all. she’s an elite cashing in
Genius ad. Love her and Talarico. Glad i don't live in Texas, because I couldn't decide who was better. Anyone is better than Paxton. Anyone, except maybe Greg Abbott. Both ew.
Convincing the convinced is a waste of money.

This is my response as well. Crockett has a persona she projects to the public. So does Trump. Which is more accurate? Who knows - I just don't care. The only way that I will is if one or the other does something differently than they have done in the past and this ad is not different.
She's a black woman?
What are the clues?
Just another Democrat shill... zzzzzzzz... makes Beto look like a mental giant..
