"... at 14th and U Streets NW, as a bystander chuckled at the scene and offered running commentary. ('No, Superman!') Jurors also saw video of the sandwich being thrown, the short-lived foot chase that followed and Dunn’s statements after the arrest: 'I did it. I threw a sandwich. I did it to draw them away from where they were. I succeeded.'... Defense attorney Sabrina Shroff... displayed a photo of the wrapped sandwich on the ground and pressed the agent to clarify whether it had really exploded. Lairmore said... 'I had mustard and condiments on my uniform, and an onion hanging from my radio antenna that night,' the agent said. During closing arguments Wednesday, Shroff questioned whether [the officer] really felt threatened, noting that his co-workers gave him a plush toy sandwich as a gag gift, which he displayed on his office shelf, and an insignia that he affixed on his lunchbox, showing a likeness of Dunn hoisting a hoagie above the words 'Felony Footlong.'"

Would showing up at the places of work of the jury members and throwing food at them be considered a harmless gesture of protest? Or what?
Jury nullification. 🦅
America! Fuck yeah!
It might be different if Antifa wasn't freezing water bottles and then throwing them, or 'concrete' milkshakes. This establishes an element of terror. Do we expect our LEOs trying to keep the peace in such an environment? WIll the defendant mind if they take an extra few minutes to respond to his address on a 911 call? You know - out of an abundance of caution. That's OK - right?
Yes, the guy who threw a Sammie should have been prosecuted but the J6 mob that tried to overthrow the government are innocent victims of government overreach.
-MAGAt Nation
Garbage jury thats why murder was the weekly event for four years
Why do Democrat jurors let criminals walk? Professional courtesy.
Border Patrol must be the biggest snowflakes of them all.
This 'crime' is straight out of the kindergarten lunchroom, as the officers themselves accidentally emphasized with their jokes about it.
The same juries that sent people up for 20 years even though they were in another city
The first choice is to terrorize. The second Choice is abortive. Who will draw the short straw?
Wonder how the courts will deal with the Sandwich Standard. Is a sandwich ok but a stale bagel assault? Thank God we have lawyers.
October 11, 1798, John Adams to the Massachusetts Militia,
Because We have no Government armed with Power capable of contending with human Passions unbridled by morality and Religion. Avarice, Ambition, Revenge or Gallantry, would break the strongest Cords of our Constitution as a Whale goes through a Net. Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.
But for the hoagie go i
The not guilty verdict is fully consistent with the J6 pardons.
“But for the hoagie go i“
Perfect
Like the two lawyers that fire bombed police cars in new york and got away with a parking ticket
Is anybody surprised that leftards think throwing things at people is an acceptable way to protest?
Its post tinker stupidity
The fact he was a miniluv drone should be worked against him
Hag: "Yes, the guy who threw a Sammie should have been prosecuted but the J6 mob that tried to overthrow the government are innocent victims of government overreach."
Oy vey. This again. Yes, the J6ers included people who literally fought the police. But they also included grammas who walked between the ropelines, a dude in a Loyal Order of Water Buffalo hat who stood at the Speaker's rostrum while Capitol Police who outnumbered him just stood there, people who never even entered the building, etc. And they were kept locked up pre-trial for months and years. And evidence was hidden. And trying to pick out of that mess the violent offenders with cases untarnished by prosecutorial misconduct would have taken another 4 years. So "better 1500 guilty men go free than one innocent man get convicted, or even one guilty man get convicted in contravention of our laws and norms (More's Forest and all that - yeah, I hate him, but he never really said that)."
In contrast, hoagie-thrower's incident was filmed from multiple perspectives and immediately prosecuted. CC, JSM
How many people did the Buffalo Horns guy harm? They wanted to put him away for 20 years.
J6 was a Pelosi-rrection, a probable Whitmer conspiracy, and celebration of Capitol punishment.
n.n: "The first choice is to terrorize. The second Choice is abortive."
Back in the day, pro-life protesters used to throw "products of conception," or at least brandish them, at politicians. Bunch of them got locked up. CC, JSM
The waterbuffalo guy that was a sign the simulation was glitching of course the j6 committee hid the exculpatory footage
The guy was guilty of assaulting a federal agent, and the jury decided that wasn't worthy of punishment.
Border patrol agents may turn to street justice if the justice system doesn't work.
If it's OK to throw sandwiches at police officers, why do we have statutes specifically making assault or obstruction of officers enhanced violations?
Because the jury is too stupid to walk and chew gum
I wàs thinking about conquered cities like constatinople now with mamdani in the east coast and bass on the west coast
Our forefathers would have taken those asswipes and tarred and feathered them. He got off easy with a sandwich. 🤣
Fuck the tyrants. I've seen enough footage of these D-student thugs assaulting innocent citizens in outrageous ways without warrant, oversight, accountability, or due process. It's like conservatives are now on the side of the agents at Ruby Ridge. Fake conservatives.
We are in the banana republic era. That means no tar and feathering. Instead, in four years the Democrats will get their turn at the political prosecutions again. The mask agent thugs will get to see how tough they are with the Mexican gangs in prison. I prefer the Constitution and the rule of law. But, I guess poetic justice will have to do.
Do the Althouse lefties really want to compare the pissy little sammich thrower with the J6 defendants?
Seriously?
Yes they are that stupid
They murderered ashly babbitt and rosalynn boyland we havent forgotten
Seven others committed suicide
It’s a sandwich until it isn’t, then it’s a brick in a subway wrapper
"They murderered ashly babbitt and rosalynn boyland..."
The left has made it clear that killing people is not off the table for them as a protest tactic.
I find these pretenses rather insulting
Well killing people they are acquainted with dialed up
I don't mind this bit of Jury Nullification.

This is your regular reminder that freaks like DDD were influencers for the Ron DeSantis campaign. It helps to remember that organizations like the Blackshirts and KGB needed a lot of ideological indoctrination to carry out brutal and dangerous work. Now, the fact DDD is openly on the side of MS-13 will be sufficient reason for the Trump DOJ to deal with him painfully.
And the next time, when they ram a police car. This wont br so amusing
Yes doj drone cartman is a ridiculous figure but so was chaslry and lanberth couldnt wait to lock him up
Chansley the terry gilliam standin
Very triggered snowflake reactions.
It’s a sandwich until it isn’t, then it’s a brick in a subway wrapper
And it's a water bottle until it's frozen solid, and it's paint until it's infected blood, and it's a soda until it's acid, and it's a dinosaur costume until it conceals a handgun...
It's you're #me_too moment.
DDD: "The mask agent thugs will get to see how tough they are with the Mexican gangs in prison"
Yes, we really should build a political prison. Put all convicted politicians, ideologues, and cops in there. After watching Kyriakou's and Santos's Rogan interviews, even when the authorities try in good faith to put these people somewhere safe, there's really no good place for them. Kyriakou at first had to eat at the Nazi table, then at the Mafia table. Santos just stayed in the kitchen and improvised hifalutin desserts to keep everyone happy. Coppers locked up because a prosecutor and jury disagreed with their use of force become, as DDD implies, the targets of definitely unlawful uses of force. See eg Jason Van Dyke, Chauvin, the border patrol guys who shot rock throwers, etc.
The political prison would avoid most of that by keeping otherwise-law-abiding offenders together. And every four or eight years, there'd be one line filing in and one filing out.
The political prison could have a whole wing devoted to Illinois Governors! CC, JSM
Howard, I'll bet if my high school baseball pitcher son threw a fake rock at your head, a mostly harmless thing stuffed with sand perhaps so that it would be heavy enough to move fast, you'd duck. Assault or not? And if you'd be - shall we say "concerned" when what looked like a rock came hurtling at your head at high speed, how is that different from a belligerent, shouting man throwing something that might be a sandwich at you?
Is it your contention that to try to deter threats of bodily harm - ineffective assaults at present that, once normalized and decriminalized, could be easily escalated into real threats like a bottle of Gatorade that turns out to be a Molotov cocktail full of gasoline, for instance - is "snowflake" behavior? What have you got against the rule of law?
It’s too bad law enforcement didn’t shove what was left of the Subway sammich right up Dunn’s ass as a symbolic gesture in protest.
If i was honest, i would say that Howard is a dissembling pee head, but I am not honest.
When an ice agent throws a salami on rye at a Mexican, there will be a conflict of precedent requiring scotus intervention.
California needs Mexicans to work for ten cents per hour cutting their grass but Texans want secure borders. Virginians want $500k jobs at ngos for casting fag shows in Nairobi and nurses in Oklahoma get $50k for saving poor people’s lives. That is America.
boatbuilder @ 6:38pm,
Your point is valid, in that such laws do exist in some places, but I do want to point out, once again, that they should not.
"Your point is valid, in that such laws do exist in some places, but I do want to point out, once again, that they should not."
I would think, in that case, the proper course of action would be to repeal the law, not ignore it.
Some dickwads are gonna throw things that will look like bombs and cops will shoot them dead... you can see such coming to a city near you.
Mason G.,
Yes of course.
Jury nullification alive and well.
I wàs thinking about conquered cities like constatinople now with mamdani in the east coast and bass on the west coast
I want a lefty to explain to me why the conquest of the New World that followed Columbus's voyage in 1492 was the most deplorable colonialism for which we must always apologize, but the Turks' conquest of Constantinople in 1453 was not.
What happens when a society does not respect its law enforcement officers and allows them to be bullied and humiliated? Eventually the only people who want those jobs are people with low IQ's, low self esteem, or are sadistic SOB's.
Josephbleau: "When an ice agent throws a salami on rye at a Mexican, there will be a conflict of precedent requiring scotus intervention."
That is genius! Trump and Noem should have a press conference where they premiere the Salad Shooter as the new DHS less-lethal weapon. They can ask the press pool for volunteers to try it out on. CC, JSM
Yah when they know they aren’t being supported for what they do they quit…
Yes, Mosby, let's make the plain clothes masked government agents taking the Chicago teacher into custody in front of her class a joke. Because that's what all this is to you.
I think the cruelty part of Trump's agenda is starting to become too obvious for even low information voters to ignore.
What would have happened if the judge had been hit in the face with a sandwich on the bench.
Mark:
"Mr Mosby, Hi, I'm Agent Ramirez, from ICE. Could you come out of your classroom for a second and talk with us about the gentleman who was in the car with you?"
"Certainly, ma'am. Children, keep coloring. I'll be right outside the door."
OR
"Federal agents! Police! Hey, you just ran in here from a car we were trying to stop. Get away from those kids! Show me your hands!"
"Noooooo!!!! I have papers! I have a right to be here!!! You're frightening my children! Ninos, es la Migra! Socorro!! Waaah!!! Let go of me!!!"
Do you see the difference?
ICE have to use the tactics they use because the population they work in has been conditioned to disrespect and disobey them and use all the tools of both civil disobedience and political violence against them.
When you nullify a clear-cut (pun intended) assault case like the sandwich thrower, you perpetuate both the resistance and ICE's tactics.
I joke about the Salad Shooter because otherwise I would be sobbing about what has happened to our civilization. CC, JSM
It WAS harmless, but so is a slap in the face, or brandishing a gun at your wife during an argument.
Also, the Salad Shooter is not just a joke, it's a legit hypo. No journalist* is going to volunteer to get zapped by the DHS Salad Shooter - their suit will get ruined, embarrassing pics of sauce on their face will follow them around the rest of their career, and it just is contrary to the dignity of the Oval Office.
Which means that if you Salad Shoot them without their permission, you're subjecting them to offensive contact. That is, you're assaulting them. CC, JSM
*maybe Anderson Cooper. But he's normally not in the WH pool.
Mosby recites just-so stories in response to my real example.
I think law enforcement needs to check themselves, as what they say is increasingly detached from their very public actions, many of which have been going viral.
Mark: here's the Just-So Story, as related by the WaPo, of all places:
https://www.washingtonpost.com/immigration/2025/11/05/chicago-preschool-ice-arrest/
Witnesses said the teacher was followed by a dark-colored SUV as she rode to school in the passenger seat of a sedan. According to DHS, officers attempted to pull the vehicle over with sirens and emergency lights, but the driver did not stop. The agency said that the driver “sped into a shopping plaza where he and the female passenger fled the vehicle,” and then ran into the school and barricaded themselves inside.
“Upon arrest, she lied about her identity,” McLaughlin said. DHS later identified the woman arrested as Diana Santillana Galeano of Colombia, who officials said crossed the border in 2023 and last month paid smugglers to bring her two teenager children across in Texas.
[end WaPo block quote]
So she fled and eluded, into a school. Hot pursuit and safety of others are time-honored exceptions to the warrant requirement.
She wailed and cried because she was completely in the wrong. According to DHS, she doesn't even work there:
https://tinyurl.com/5n7dp8z4
She and the male driver were deliberately hiding behind children - the sort of thing Hamas does.
The loudest most self-righteous cries for justice come from the people who know they are completely wrong.
CC, JSM
Also, assuming arguendo that ICE rape and eat babies, does that legalize assaulting them? You guys never accepted that argument when the Left were in charge. Don't assert it now. CC, JSM
Poor Mark.
But, Hey! How about that Tesla stock?!
I, for one, cannot afford to repeat such a harmless gesture of protest by throwing sandwiches at protesters. But I kinda would enjoy doing it, with this precedent to prevent prosecution for doing so. Anyone want to spot me a few hundred for hoagie purchases against the next Antifa event?
