It looks to me like the points in Trump's 28 point peace plan, are likely non starters, either with Russia, or with Ukraine. For instance, Putin is demanding that Russian, a language widely spoken by Ukrainians, be recognized as an official language there, like French in Canada. Zelensky will never agree to this, ever.
I don't see any prospect of a peace deal out of these points, but I could be wrong, maybe Trump will pull it out, but it looks like a lot of wish casting to me.

If the Democrat elected officials think Trump or anyone in the military is issuing illegal orders, they are morally bound, but not legally bound, to identify them. Seems judges are having a really hard time doing so as the Supreme Court is overruling activist judges applying feelings instead of laws to their judgements.
Let's take the sinking of drug running boats as an example. Treating stateless vessels on the high seas as smugglers or pirates is perfectly legal. Ordering them to stop is perfectly legal. If they take evasive action to avoid being boarded or even approached, they can be fired upon. A warning shot is nice, but not actually required. Shooting to disable the boat is nice- but too bad for the boats (and the crew aboard) a disabling shot on those boats is also going to be a kill shot.
There are all kinds of treaties and laws on this. But the simple fact is- since time immemorial pirate and smuggling vessels have always been fair game. There doesn't need to be proof that drugs/contraband were on the boat or piracy was going on. Evasive action to avoid being boarded and searched is enough.
What is stateless vessel? One not displaying a flag and without required markings- Ai Overview pretty much covers it: "A ship on the high seas must have its name, home port (or hailing port), and its unique International Maritime Organization (IMO) number painted on the hull. The parking lot was close to full. There was one gal on the frozen pizza aisle, looked like she was doing Instacart, and was wearing an outfit that probably wasn’t appropriate outside of a strip club. Short and revealing. My husband has a thought on the "illegal orders" video. I haven't listened to it yet; he tells me that the way these - what are they called in the headline? "Democrat hawks"? - the way they worded their statement was to say "you don't have to" obey illegal orders in all instances but one in which they said that servicemembers "must" disobey illegal orders. Why, he wondered?
He thinks it's a threat: once we're back in power, we're going to find a whole lot of Trump's orders illegal retrospectively. So be careful what orders you obey, servicemembers, or face court martial.
I hesitate to believe that they meant it exactly that way. But certainly, when they say things like “The threats to our Constitution aren't just coming from abroad, but from right here at home," the message (though not always "our laws," by design in some cases) is clear: think hard about every order you're given because we the legislature, makers of laws, are telling you some of those orders are a threat to the Constitution.

It's a deception game: Call something the opposition is doing 'unlawful' or 'unconstitutional' and then, when challenged, avoid answering questions, provide no examples, and allude to things using slightly less inflammatory language. Let the listeners employ their imagination. If they hate the opposition, they'll believe.

Kinda almost stuck with Safari on my iPads. Turns out I kinda have two (or more?) Google accounts. I have had ieee.org and computer.org email accounts for better than three decades now - both through my IEEE membership. After retirement, the membership was half priced, and sometime in my early 70s, it became free. For several decades, IEEE ran their own email servers. Then, most of a decade ago, they brought in Google to run their online stuff. All through IEEE Galactic (NJ based). They refused to let IEEE USA see their contract with Google, but assured us that it provided for security and confidentiality. Right, with Google’s well documented history of tweaking their EUA on the fly. In any case that means that attorneys cannot ethically utilize IEEE.ORG, COMPUTER.ORG, and esp not Gmail professionally.
Thinking back to when the fiasco started a year or two ago, signing onto Ann’s blog requires signing onto Google, but that meant, for me, signing on through IEEE. AND Blogger is integrated with other Google tools, including Chrome. What it ultimately meant is that I can’t sign on to Blogger, and thus Ann’s blog, with the correct account, through Chrome, which I use for most everything else. Like it a lot better, and it is integrated with all my computers, including those running Windows. The result is that I use Safari for Althouse, and that is it.

Comments should go up immediately... unless you're commenting on a post older than 2 days. Then you have to wait for us to moderate you through. It's also possible to get shunted into spam by the machine. We try to keep an eye on that and release the miscaught good stuff. We do delete some comments, but not for viewpoint... for bad faith.
