Ann - I will buy you a plane ticket to come to Colorado to disparage Mother Nature. Because the same storm that gave you some nice snow - gave us piddle-de-doo.
I wanted to be wrong. I wanted a big exciting show and it looked like it was going to be a disappointment. I wanted a raging downpour of big flakes and we were just getting that thin stuff. I intended the provocation.
I cleared off the driveway twice yesterday and once this morning. An accumulation of maybe 6 inches? I hadn't cleaned off one of the cars as I went along and refilled the driveway cleaning it off. One of the cars is going in the garage tonight.
Although I've spent my last 39 years in South Florida, I still remember one of life's great simple pleasures is sitting in a warm house, looking out a window at snow falling. The big, moist flakes are the best for airborne visibility.
Vault dweller. Not a skier. I used to ski. Grew up skiing. It's a headache getting up there, and the price tag for a day of skiing is insane. Yes the mountains need snow and in CO - you don't need to be a skier to want snow pack. We need snow state-wide.
Damn Chuck, time-traveling, quotes me in 2020 saying, "I assumed Trump lost the election." And then he zaps into the future, and demands that that all of MAGA pee on me, like they do on him, every day.
St. Croix said the unspeakable and I called it out. Trump loyalist just aren’t suppose to say Trump lost legitimately. Like most everything Trump, it’s a lie, you know it’s a lie, but you’re never ever suppose to expose the lie.
That’s what’s so damning here. The scales are not supposed to fall from the eyes. Accepting that Trump was a liar and a con man the whole time upends the entire apple cart. It would make fools of the entire maga movement.
That’s what’s up with Chuck. You need a scapegoat or an excuse and hope that St. Croix never makes such a foolish mistake again.
Dude, we had this blog spat half a decade ago. I was a DeSantis man. all the way. Even if he is shorter than my dog. And I was outvoted. And I accepted it and moved on. Try it sometime.
We spent the day cross-country skiing at ABR in Ironwood, MI, where there’s well over 30 inches of lake-effect snow, and continuing snow showers are adding to the totals. Mid winter conditions at the beginning of December.
This past week we skied the Birkie Trail from the OO Trailhead, where there’s more than 12 inches of snow that has been groomed beautifully.
Spent the weekend at the Grand Canyon. Below freezing at night, but zero snow despite the 8000 ft. altitude. Beautiful clear sunny days in to 50s and lots of people. 4th time there and it still amazes me. It just seems like it shouldn't be possible. I love the Colorado River history, and this post is adorable.

"Had to dust off the old "I was wrong" tag."
You'll never make it as a weatherman.
Weatherwoman?
Try not to be too hard on yourself. I’m sure Mother Nature will forgive you. (Unless she chooses to harshly judge and punish you.)
When Meade said "You may be right", I knew what that really meant.
Never admit you're wrong. Mumble something about "track of the storm"; as if it's not your job to predict the track of the storm.
That's how the professionals do it.
It takes a Stoic, smart and courageous person to admit you were wrong. Bill Gates did so recently about CAGW.
Bravo, Ann Althouse.
Meade's "You might be right," reminded me of his Thanksgiving advice.
Ann needs to get Meade on record for the upcoming Indiana-Ohio State game.
I vote for Curt.

@Peachy are you a skier? Is that why you want snow?
The forecast I was watching, Weather Underground, was calling for 5 - 7". I wouldn't call 12" "getting it right".
My arms are sore.
Confirmed that Ann is not a Leftist. The Left never admits it is wrong. See, e.g., Covid, CAGW.

"Snotty by nature"?

"I intended the provocation."
Gee, thanks.
Actually, 12" of the thin stuff wasn't that bad, though I did it in 3 tranches. The snowplow berm at the end of the driveway was work.
You didn’t insult Mother Nature. She didn’t predict anything. You insulted science.

Thanks for inviting us into your home for those two brief moments. Blessings!
Climate change, obviously. So, let it snow, if it snows, let it show.

The weather outside is frightful , but at Meadhouse it's so delightful. Flocked in Madison.

Love those fantastic trees.

Meteorologist. But not a meaty urologist.
No snow in Southwest Florida. It did get down to 49 on Friday morning and 53 yesterday, though. Brrrrr! Back to normal today.
Thanks. I found that amusing and interesting.
Could you appeal?
Everyone talks about the weather but no one does anything about it. And everyone makes wrong weather predictions.
Wasnt there a TV commercial - "Its not nice to fool mother nature"?
The Gales of November
It's the surf on Lake Superior this past Thursday. Would not want to be out in it.
Had to dusk off the old "I was wrong" tag

Absolutely delightful pair of videos. Thanks for sharing!

My heart is with the Hoosiers; my brain is with the Buckeyes.

Has there been another video of Ann speaking onb this blog?
A weatherwoman sounds ambivalent as shit. Like she's teaching "whether" to children, Hamlet style.
Or she's a witch.
Hence, "meteorologist." Now she sounds like an astronaut in space who has no pronouns. That's what I'm talking about.
Has there been another video of Ann speaking on this blog?
Yes! She sounds nice, right? Who knew?
