This from the guide: Freedom of Speech vs. Respect for Identity
Some argue that forcing people to use certain pronouns violates their freedom of speech. But isn't respect for a person's identity just as crucial?
Answer: No. Going along with a lie is wrong on many levels.
Not this guy!! SACRILEGE before the mighty right wing emperor, this is gonna leave a mark and the blonde haired FOX lady also, how dare they.. Conservative podcaster and former Fox News host Tucker Carlson has accused the Trump administration of using Charlie Kirk’s death to trample on the First Amendment, a concern that has been raised by many on the left. The outspoken right-wing voice said that Kirk was a “free speech champion” and he hoped that his murder wouldn’t be used as “leverage” to bring in hate speech laws in the U.S. following the administration’s threats to take action against critics of the Turning Point USA founder. Kirk’s assassination has sparked a polarizing debate about free speech across the country. “You hope that a year from now, the turmoil we're seeing in the aftermath of his murder won't be leveraged to bring hate speech laws to this country,” Carlson said Wednesday during a special edition of The Tucker Carlson Show in tribute to Kirk. “And trust me, if it is, if that does happen, there is never a more justified moment for civil disobedience than that, ever. And there never will be,” the pundit added. “Because if they can tell you what to say, they're telling you what to think...There is nothing they can't do to you because they don't consider you human.” Cancel Culture by the MAGA'S and on satire and comedians. lonejustice said: "It is up to us who do not want another American Civil War to intervene and make sure that it doesn't happen."
That's a good sentiment, but what is the plan to make sure that it doesn't happen? Kirk tried the dialog route and the side you support killed him. A recent president advocated bringing a gun into the mix. Your latest candidate helped bail out rioters that burned cities and killed cops. The Congresspeople on your side encouraged an uncivility that was sure to lead to violence and are too numerous to list.
The heavy lifting to achieve what you want here is entirely up to you. We already tried. I can only hope you were sincere in what you said, but I've seen no sign of it.
@Dinky Rest assured that with your support hate speech laws will never be enacted. You've seen the reaction on this blog to Bondi's statement and the same reaction among Republicans is long standing. If you were paying attention you saw it as far back as 2001 when there was discussions about shutting down Muslim takes on Iraq. Even at the height of support for the war Republicans were adamant those voices should not be repressed no matter how repulsive.
But again, only with your support can we ensure free speech stays free. We've watched free speech in danger through Obama's three terms and used as a political tool by the left. Never again should a sitting President be barred from communicating on a widespread platform.
Let's make sure the 1st Ammendment stays solid. But like lonejustice above much of the work rests with you to police your side.
Kak' would like everyone to forget jab mandates, J6 dragnets and Dark Brandon speech, about as fascist as it gets. 2 attempts l(minimum) on Trump and successful slaying of Kirk, who championed dialog.
There is still a tremendous overhang of vengance due, after decades of oppression by the hegemonic power structure (see Antonio Gramsci, his hegemonic nature of power). The hegemonic institutions have, some of them, been weakened or overthrown, so the other side has seized some, at least, of the cultural/economic/administrative high ground.

About seven months ago, I took Zepbound for three months, lost 15 lbs, and happy, I stopped taking it. Well... it never stopped working, my digestive system seems to have permanently slowed. I went to my doc, and she said that she tells people that this is a risk of the drug, nobody told me. Anyway, I am still shrinking out of my clothes, down to the last hole in my belt, which was a size down already. I don't know if I am mad or not. I can''t eat to close to bedtime anymore without getting pain, which is fine, I am just not hungry anymore. First time it happened, I thought it might be a heart attack, but it's calmed down a lot. Anyway, I am just sharing because I never heard that this was a possible side effect of GLP-1 drugs.
As we recall Beiden left 7.2 billion of military equipment behind and many Americans were killed in his withdrawal. Bagram should have been the last place evacuated and the equipment should have been destroyed or removed. I think Beiden rushed it because the evac was on 8-30-21 and the 20 year anniversary of 9-11 was a few weeks later, he wanted to have a grand photo op of closing down the Mideast ops, which was his choice, but his spastic timetable led to death and great cost to the US.
Roxolana: What, leave thy crown, thy empire, and thy throne, For dreams of saints, and shadows of renown? The world is thine, if thou wilt stoop to take it; And all its glories wait but thy command.
Sebastian: No, false one; I have seen too late the cheat: The tinsel of thy courts, the gaudy bait Of power and pleasure, which ensnare the great. Thy mosques and minarets, thy silks from Fez, Thy slaves and spices, all that pomp profess— ‘Tis but a gilded cage for souls opprest. Yours is a world well lost: I cast it from me, As one who wakes from frenzy, glad to be free. My kingdom’s here [points to his heart], in heaven’s eternal rest; And thou, with all thy train, shalt be possess’d By furies, till thy perjuries confess’d.
I have been reading Dryden to prepare for future retirement.
I don't know what's going on with Bagram air base. I do know that (a) we left billions of dollars worth of military equipment there that we would prefer the Taliban not sell to Russia or China or Iran, and (b) Afghanistan is suffering from bankruptcy and a massive drought. No one wants to deal with such scum as the Taliban, but an arms-length deal in which we help prevent millions of civilians from dying of thirst in return for getting thousands of pieces of military equipment back might be worth pursuing.
Just a guess on what may be going on, but it seems plausible to me. Lukashenko is scum, too, but Trump just traded him some spare parts for his airliners for the release of dozens of political prisoners. Assuming there's some guarantee he will actually use the spare parts to keep his airliners from crashing, and not hand them over to Putin to keep Russian bombers in the air over Ukrainian cities, it's a good deal.

The Kimmel suspension comes as Larry Ellison’s family moves to take control of vast swaths of public speech in the US. David Ellison bought Paramount Skydance and promptly set about replacing news with Bari Weiss’ propaganda at CBS, and now, Larry looks set to acquire TikTok and probably Warner Bros. Rumor has it that CNN and HBO are next on the Sundance list as he rubs all over The Donald to hold off Anti-Trust.
Its my point the last few days re the Ellisons. That ownership change is behind a lot of this. But I doubt they are subject to antitrust for picking up Warner (incl package of cable channels like CNN, etc). The Ellisons moved big and mostly under the radar (though in plain sight). ABC (Kimmel) is something else, the Ellisons are not buying ABC, another broadcaster, where they WOULD be subject to antitrust IMHO.
What advantage do you think you get by lying? It seems to be a constant thing with you.
Kaki and a few of the usual lefty trolls here are just repeating what they are told to say. You give them too much credit for independent thinking by saying that they are lying.
@gadfly: "Larry Ellison’s family moves to take control of vast swaths of public speech in the US."
By 'vast swaths' you mean a non-establishment non-lefty will control more than 10% of public speech. To date, only Rupert Murdoch and Elon Musk have been relevant with non-left policies.
You may bow down to Bill Gates at MSNBC and Slate, and bow to Bloomberg's propaganda media business, his funding of self-serving 'research,' his influence and/or bribery campaign affecting oodles of national and local politicians, and his de facto control over stock trading. Next, let's get started on the bias and slant of Apple News, Google News, and the majority of the 'fact checkers.'
Get back to me when media control approaches 50/50 left versus right wing ownership.
Where is their honor? If I was caught in a bold faced lie, I would slink off into the sunset or man up and apologize. Lefties do not consider either option. They double down and get promoted. Re: Newly minted Senator Adam Schiff.
The Trump administration negotiated the initial Afghan withdrawal agreement, signed as the Doha Agreement on February 29, 2020, with the Taliban. It set a timeline for U.S. troop withdrawal by May 2021. The Biden administration later executed the final withdrawal, completed in August 2021, adjusting the timeline. ~ Grok
Maybe Trump's Secretary of State Mike Pompeo neglected to notify Trump about handing over Bagram to the Taliban....

Ah, the Peachy shift- false equivalence / both-sides mode—comparing Roseanne and Kimmel as though they prove the same point, when in reality the contexts are very different.
The Roseanne comparison doesn’t hold water. Roseanne was canceled by ABC after a racist tweet—there wasn’t a president or FCC commissioner threatening licenses or calling networks. With Kimmel, the concern isn’t just what he said or whether his ratings were weak. It’s that government officials are on record saying they pressured broadcasters and would retaliate against criticism. That’s the key difference: private companies can drop shows for content, ratings, public backlash, or when advertisers pull back. But when government power is used to push people off the air who don’t speak favorably of them, that’s a First Amendment problem.
What’s also alarming is that Trump not only told us this was coming but openly admit mores to come.
comparing Roseanne and Kimmel as though they prove the same point, when in reality the contexts are very different.
Indeed, DFC. Roseanne expressed a political opinion through a social media platform separate from her employer. Kimmel made a libelous claim as a statement of fact on his employer's broadcast platform. The FCC has regulations, dating back to 1992, to prevent the broadcasting of hoaxes.
Kimmel left ABC no choice but to suspend him, when Kimmel promised to "double down" violating FCC regulations. On the otherhand Roseanne worked with ABC to keep her show on the air.
Leland, Yancey, Peachy, and and other tribal members, the FCC’s 1992 “hoax” rule (Section 73.1217) applies to false reports of disasters or crimes that cause public panic—not to political commentary on a late-night show. If Kimmel’s remarks were truly libelous, the proper venue would be civil court, not the FCC. What makes this different from Roseanne isn’t just the content, it’s that government officials are publicly boasting about leaning on and silencing broadcasters who speak negatively of Trump. That’s the constitutional problem, and no amount of ratings, FCC mis-citations, hating of the Dems, or Trump butt sucking erases it.
Well, I can understand Ronald's concern. Multiple setbacks. Trump assassination attempt. Trump wins presidency. Sexually and morally deviant college dropout shoots nice Christian boy. I wonder what they told him his reward would be.

"Kirk was prepared to debate 18 to 20 year old college students. For some reason, he never engaged the professors, which is not surprising."
Quite a few of his utube clips showed him debating professors. They were less prepared than the leftist college kids. What advantage do you think you get by lying? It seems to be a constant thing with you.

It is basically crap that says the mentally ill must be catered to so we don't hurt their feelings. My feelings? The mentally ill deserve no such consideration. Truth is truth. You are what you are, and cannot change it.
Can someone please remind us all who negotiated the exit deal that gave up this air base?
I'll wait.

Kak - That would be Joe Biden. Are you doing the lying thing or the I'm an uninformed idiot thing? It's hard to tell the difference.
BTW, I thought you were better as PBJ.
"Rigid, hard-wired, and steep social hierarchies ..."
Take good notes.
This is all going to be on the midterm.
@Dinky
Rest assured that with your support hate speech laws will never be enacted.
Is it me or does Trump look less Orange this time around?
Biden decided to give up the airbase. Trumps deal didn't actually mention it one way or the other.
"Can someone please remind us all who negotiated the exit deal that gave up this air base?"
Did Joe Biden stick to the terms of that deal? Or did he just cut and run even though Trump's terms hadn't been met because he wanted to get US troops as far. from Russia as possible, since he had the next war already planned?
pacwest said..."BTW, I thought you (kak) were better as PBJ."
PBJ is le dounier. PBJ had more in common with Titus. BTW, what ever happened to Titus? I figure he finally inherited the family farm outside of Waunakee, went straight and married a local, and fathered a kid or two, Either that or he bought the farm.
KAK gives off a Montana Urban Legend vibe.
We dont need a fucking air base in Afghanistan. Biden did very few good things. Getting us out of Afghanistan was one of them. I can remember in the 80s everyone chortling over how the Soviets had gotten themselves stuck in big Muddy Afghanistan. Little did I know all the Neo-Cons were sitting around going "I can't wait till its our turn".
Mike D., I hadn't noticed the vacancy of words of sympathy for Charlie or Iryna from AA. Why I wonder? Does she omit same sentiments with others too as a matter of course? When has she given sentiments after victim's demise? In normal aged out / illness related deaths? Musicians, actors? Maybe Ann doesn't at all give comments sentiments as a blanket state for all? I think that is the more likely answer. I can't see her, ( or I hope not, anyway,) just being choosy of who she mourns, publicly. If anyone has thoughts or receipts, please share. Thank you, kindly.
I can only hope you were sincere in what you said...
If he was sincere, he wouldn't claim to be a three-time Trump voter ... who just happens to spew every left-wing talking point.
He's a true conservative, you see. Just ask him.

The world is thine, if thou wilt stoop to take it;
And all its glories wait but thy command.
Sebastian: No, false one; I have seen too late the cheat:
The tinsel of thy courts, the gaudy bait
Of power and pleasure, which ensnare the great.
Thy mosques and minarets, thy silks from Fez,
Thy slaves and spices, all that pomp profess—
‘Tis but a gilded cage for souls opprest.
Yours is a world well lost: I cast it from me,
As one who wakes from frenzy, glad to be free.
My kingdom’s here [points to his heart], in heaven’s eternal rest;
And thou, with all thy train, shalt be possess’d
By furies, till thy perjuries confess’d.

Kak, The left killed Charlie Kirk. Everything you say is crap, lies, disinformation. You are loathsome - a small and ugly thing. On the inside, where it counts.
These rigid, hard-wired, and steep social hierarchies ... are they in the room with us now?
More seriously, that is the sort of thing that was called IYI for a while (intellectual yet idiot). Conservatives support rigid and steep and hard-wired hierarchies? In 21st century America? And more so than liberals who want to import people to mow their lawns and wash their dishes?"

Kirk was prepared to debate 18 to 20 year old college students. For some reason, he never engaged the professors, which is not surprising. He picked up rhetorical tricks from years of listening to conservative AM talk radio. Substantively, he had almost nothing to offer. The fact that he was still doing this at 31, speaks volumes. Kirk's views on a number of issues are right-wing even by U.S. standards. To his credit, he had some genuine beliefs. But outside of right wing circles, I doubt that anyone will know his name in 20 years. The fact that his legacy is likely to be associated with the repression of free speech, rather than the support of free speech, undermines whatever legacy he might have had.

He was so inconsequential, he (literally) triggered one of the highest profile assassinations of US history and made thousands of defective lefoties show their despicable macabre asses online. Just by engaging in open conversation.

If I recall correctly the reason Trump ran the first time was that he was mocked at one of these functions for the "hard wired hierarchy". He was intruding where he was not wanted, being terminally declasse.

Note : John Stewarts "Daily Show" on Comedy Central is part of the Paramount cable package the Ellisons bought in 2024 and finalized last month.
Rumor has it that CNN and HBO are next on the Sundance list as he rubs all over The Donald to hold off Anti-Trust.
How someone can even type things like this - and then post it for all to see - will forever remain a mystery to me.

It does NOT say - "If your TV show is down in the ratings and losing money - - you get to keep your job."
Kimmel's show was already hanging by a thread. His hate speech and lies kicked it in the can.
Blame Kimmel. He's not funny. He's just an angry leftist who only interviews other angry leftists. Nobody wants to watch that shit.
Meanwhile - Your team's(D) vile encouragement just killed someone.
"Now we get to listen to the left REEEEEE incoherently about freedom of speech under attack, desperately trying to distract normie America from how they saw with their own eyeballs last week that a quarter of the liberals they know would celebrate their brutal murders for having normal American beliefs, while the rest would make excuses why they deserved it.
But anyways, poor Jimmy Kimmel. He's the real victim."

BREAKING: Antifa smashing doors and windows at UC Davis entrance where Charlie Kirk is speaking
Kak uttered mindlessly: “ The GOP is setting the Constitution on fire. You are actively supporting the federal government as it attacks political speech that the president doesn't like. Absolutely pathetic and shameless.”
See Facebook circa 2020 campaign.
ABC fired Kimmel.. just like they fired Rosanne.
Roseanne had high rating.
Kimmel had low ratings.
Rosanne said something stupid.
Kimmel lied in the face of his party's assassination-speech industrial complex.
"Kakistocracy said...

100% Bullshit.
I've watched CK a few times on TouTube and he's debated professors before.
Props to our little Kak who tirelessly out runs logic and reason to show up here to plumb the depths of the days leftist nuance.
Ronald just can't stop lying. What a surprise.
Speaking of FCC mis-citations:
"that cause public panic"
Nowhere in the rule does the word "panic" appear. Stop with the bad faith posting.
"Stop with the bad faith posting."
So- you're trying to silence him, then? /s
