"In the two weeks since Kirk’s killing, pastors across the country have reported a spike in attendance usually reserved for Christmas or Easter."

"Social media has been filled with testimonies from young people turning to Christianity for the first time, with even atheists saying they are reconsidering their position on religion. Pastors have coined a term for the religious revival galvanised by Kirk’s death: the Charlie effect.... In Irvine, California, a 20-year-old student named Bryce Bohorquez filmed the overfilled parking lots outside Oceans Church, where he is a longstanding member. 'Charlie Kirk, look what you did. No parking. Everyone wants to come now. Amen,' Bohorquez said in the video, which has been viewed more than three million times...."

By the way, look at this insane and distracting distracting ad the London Times had right in the center of the page, right after the words "God's way of reminding us to live for him":

Live for him... indeed.

Charley would be amazed, incredibly pleased and grateful, and of course he would give all credit to Jesus.
Despite not being able to call myself a Christian, and not agreeing with all his positions, I can't think of a better role model than Charley Kirk, and If I had children, I would be very pleased if they were inspired to be like him.

For so many young people of the last 60 years, they thought faith was unnecessary in a kumbaya clown world where they'd have jetpacks and world peace. Instead, they're seeing a kumbaya clown world with precious few jetpacks producing lots of trannies, cynical multiculturalism, economic displacement, brushfire wars, and nihilistic accelerationism paired with violence.

Everyone was lied to and death may be near...no wonder many suddenly have faith on their minds.

Most people who do not ever attend a Christian Church - assume it's all just like that weird caricature of tele-vangilist.
News-flash - Its not.

Most churches worship services are NON political. People gather to praise the the Lord, read the gospel and try to apply it to modern life. Often the discussion are around various Charites and people gather and do good things for others.

the total opposite of a leftist life.

Ah! that solved it.

Ann Althouse ayon kay ...

All it takes is the close italics html. The trick is to make sure the "I" doesn't turn into a capital "I" — as you can see both of the ones I just typed did. Put the up first, then cut and past a lower case "i" after the first bracket.

Ann Althouse ayon kay ...

And by "Put the up first" — I mean put up the angled brackets with the slash

Hassayamper ayon kay ...

I did that, Ann, but it did nothing. Closing the "em" tag did succeed. I suspect that rehajm used an "em" tag to open his comment and an "i" tag to close it.

Hassayamper ayon kay ...

(or a faulty "slash em" tag to close it.)

Hassayamper ayon kay ...

HTML tags are supposed to be indifferent to capitalization. If that's how Blogger works, it's a non-standard implementation.

I know their implementation of the "a href" tag is non-standard. Took some time to figure that one out.

Hassayamper ayon kay ...

And I used a capital "I" for both my opening and closing tags in the comment above.

MadTownGuy ayon kay ...

I use both "" and "" to close Italics on my comments, and in that context it works the same. On occasions when I fix the italics from previous comments, I use "" just in case.

There are a lot of similarities between the 1970s and current events, including imperial overstretch--which the US was coming down from and the USSR was ratcheting up.

Now we are heading for some imperial overstretch on the part of all of the Big Three: USA, Russia, and China. Look for Globalization to end with some bangs.

It seems that AI algorithms put random images on random sites, and then track which ones get clicks. Even Youtube thumbnails involve 2 or 3 three variants in hopes of drawing your eye again. Some ad images make no sense at all (i.e., Where would the b*lls fit in these items?).

This method follows from TikTok's success.

Hassayamper @ 11:42 AM,

Your comment completely misunderstands how HTML works--in particular the who does what, where part. Blogger isn't doing anything wrong hair, and it isn't misinterpreting the HTML tags

If you write italics, blogspot.com just sends the raw unadorned <i> and </i> and it's your browser that does the rendering. Same thing with capital I versus lowercase i... the HTML specification says case does not matter in tags, so if it comes out wrong when the case differs between opening and closing tags, it's your browser that's at fault.
