"Ya know, it keeps gettin' worse...."

Did Chuck Schumer always drop his G's like that?
"They're gonna spend 2 effin' hundred million dollars" — yeah, 200 effin' million dollars of donated money.

There are 4 more dropped G's in that clip and it's only 26 seconds long.

I wonder what people are receiving for their 'donations'.

You are naive if you believe they are getting nothing.

Give Chuck a break. He’s 74 and is desperately trying to present himself as edgy and hip to those young Commies who are starting to gain control of the New York Democrat Party. Of course, it won’t work, but he’s gotta try.

Shumer has been probably been listening to his consultants about how to be more relatable to those stupid yokels onbthe other side. It is to laugh, bc even a life long Michigander like myself knows that people raised in Brooklyn do not talk like that.

Peachy ayon kay ...

Dave Begley - LOL.

Tax payer money - washed clean thru Ukraine and China - put in Bidne family coffers - was not a problem for any democrat in power or any sycophant cult hivemind dem, either.

All the green energy grift that vanished?
All the DEI money
USAID

Dems don't give a crap about that waste and fraud. as long as it enriches fellow dems. all cool.

Jamie ayon kay ...

He's right about one thing: it does keep getting worse - for his party.

I'm still waiting to see how they tiptoe out of the corner they've painted themselves into, in which their entire platform is "everything Trump does is bad, without exception, so we're against all of it."

We were listening to a Shapiro podcast yesterday in which he played a clip of some Democrat woman saying that the divide is no longer between moderates and progressives; now it's between those who think Trump is an existential threat to democracy and those who think it's not the complete end of everything to hunker down and ride out his terrible presidency. When all you have is "against," and by the way when your "against" position aligns with "everything is terrible, everyone is a victim, there's no way to succeed, some modicum of relief from your misery is all we can hope to provide and there's no surety of that," and the side you're against is explicitly optimistic, where do you go from there?

Amadeus 48 ayon kay ...

Chuck is quite hunch-backed now. They shoot down at him with the camera to cover it up. He is famous for scoring a 1600 on the SAT when that meant something. He has always been a camera hog. He has fed at the public trough his entire career.

Throughout history, countries have built palaces and buildings from which to conduct diplomacy with other nations. Typically, these buildings represent the cultural pride and displays of power and wealth, in order to be a symbol of national pride.

If I work at a company, and my boss represents us in sweatpants and a wife beater, that is going to shape my feelings about my place in the company and what we do there.

Trump and most of these donors, understand what it means to be a leader and an executiv. they have led people and they have run large businesses

During The Trump presidency our government is doing business on behalf of the American People. We want to do a good job. Public ballrooms like this were conversations with government leaders are done out in the open or refreshing. $200 million is rounding error in Washington DC and for once they aren’t stealing tax payer money.

There is no reason to give obvious bad faith posters, like Mark the time of day. Mark had no problem with our government funneling billions Tax dollars to democrat cronies, complaining about people who want our country to look better to foreign leaders. Everything Mark post in bad faith.

I'm still waiting to see how they tiptoe out of the corner they've painted themselves into, in which their entire platform is "everything Trump does is bad, without exception, so we're against all of it."

It was Chuck what said the lefties were going to (not yet dropping his g’s) slowly chip aaay at Trump’s approval, yet every time they try a new stunt or open their mouths even their hole gets deeper. Even newly minted economists don’t but the idea Democrats are some kind of government spending watchdogs…

rehajm ayon kay ...

…IMO this is one place I wouldn’t mind tax money going to the upgrade. There was a diplomatic incident years ago, I forget who was in the office, but the Chinese delegation was insulted by dinner with the tent. They jammed the East room and cut most everyone from the guest list…it looks tacky, like we don’t have our shit together. It looks that way because we don’t…

hombre ayon kay ...

Democrats make no distinction between public and private money. They have always pretended that Trump’s business dealings equated with grifting government funds, a practice at which they excel.

Mason G ayon kay ...

I donate money to several groups, and have done so for many years. Aside from a calendar or an occasional Christmas tree ornament, I don't get anything in return.

Only a Democrat would see something sleazy in people voluntarily donating their own money for a project like this. One word- projection.

tommyesq ayon kay ...

Who said that?

Dust Bunny Queen ayon kay ...

It is private, donated money. Not tax payer dollars or money that is appropriated by Congress....so Schumer needs to STFU

But...I have questions ??? on just how much approval or what channels you go through to make such a significant modification to a public building. And approval for the design. Etc. I mean if it was a private residence and you wanted to add another 3000 square feet to your house or a 4 story observation tower......you would need to go through the local planning department, building codes, even run the plan through your immediate neighbors for feedback.... etc etc. I know that Trump is familiar with those processes.

Could any President in the future decide to use their own money and paint the Whitehouse in a Rainbow motif... paint it purple and yellow? Black top the grounds to add a basket ball court? What is the limit?

William50 ayon kay ...

He's just trying to relate to the little people like he did with his raw burgers with cheese.

Dust Bunny Queen ayon kay ...

I'm sure the final design will be lovely and in good taste. But....what type of precedent does this set for future construction remodeling or renovations.

Bob Boyd ayon kay ...

What is the limit?

The voters. That's our system.

Yancey Ward ayon kay ...

Chuck is just thinking that if they did it with public money he would have been able to steer most of it to his friends and political allies.

In case you didn't already know that Chuck is an exceptionally bold liar, this confirms it. He knows with absolute certainty that the ballroom is being paid for by donors (otherwise Congress would have to authorize funding) but he lies about it having something to do with DOGE (which is a department established by Obama, BTW).
What a shameless hack. (With apologies to shameless hacks everywhere, who don't deserve to be lumped in with Chuckie).

William ayon kay ...

I think The Chuckster should get two little teardrops tattooed under his left eye to memorialize his management of Trump's two impeachments. That should solidify his appeal to younger voters. Perhaps an edgier haircut would help. Maybe shave his head and wear some leather outfits. Go full Inglorious Bastard........Perhaps at a future, more propitious time, he can move to make the ballroom a soup kitchen and bus in migrant Maryland dads to sup there........I'm pretty sure that in the next century people will be dancing in the Trump Ballroom, and that's how people will remember him. And Schumer not at all.....I don't think Trump should move the remains of Mondale, Dukakis et al there so Republicans can dance on their grave. That would be in poor taste..

Olson Johnson is right! ayon kay ...

Did he actually finish up his speech with a "Trump's Dick is Huge" metaphor? I know most high-politics is more like high-school bullshit drama. Why does Trump get so lucky with his enemies?

Lazarus ayon kay ...

Wasn't it better when the only time you heard from Congressional leaders was on Sunday's "Meet the Press"? Mike Mansfield and Ev Dirksen didn't feel the need to tweet out every passing thought to the public, and the fact that Mansfield had to worry about his Montana constituents and Dirksen about his Illinois constituents meant that neither could go out on an ideological limb the way that Schumer and Pelosi did. All you're going to hear from Chuck is the party line, so why hear from him at all?

boatbuilder ayon kay ...

The Obama Presidential Center has received approximately $1.5 Billion in donations. Did DOGE have anything to do with that?

If the money comes from donated sources and not the government, why does he care? Also, I suspect that the government will not let this construction opportunity pass to put something underneath the new ballroom.

While it is called "G-dropping", it's more accurately described as substituting the alveolar nasal /n/ consonant for the voiced velar nasal consonant /Å‹/ that we spell as "ng".
