This gets my tag "2028 campaign." Looks like Emanuel made a significant move and Buttigieg felt obliged to react. But did Buttigieg say anything comprehensible? He also said "The approach starts with compassion, compassion for transgender people, compassion for families, especially of young people who are going through this, and also empathy for people who are not sure what all of this means for them... and just taking everybody seriously." And: "These decisions should be in the hands of sports leagues and school boards and not politicians, least of all politicians in Washington trying to use this as a political pawn."

He has no chance to win, but he has his fans. The grift that he will run is the same grift two-time loser Bernie Sanders ran. Pete's spouse will somehow get a cut of all the FB and TV advertising that the campaign will buy. And it's not necessarily an issue of - take your pick - fairness, safety, or personal bodily autonomy when a trans athlete wants to compete in women's sports. It's an issue when a "trans woman" (that is, a biological man, no matter how you slice it) wants to compete in women's sports.
Readering, I believe the stat, according to a UN report, is that some 890 medals in 400 competitions and 29 sports have gone to "trans women" (with a biological woman potentially denied a medal) as of sometime in 2024. Those 10 trans college athletes who are good enough to compete in NCAA contests do not capture the whole of the issue; there are other competitions, both more and less prestigious. What about high school softball? What about recreational softball? What's the maximum pitch speed of a biological male who has trained in fastpitch softball, versus that of a biological female? You've possibly seen the videos of male baseball players trying to hit a competitive woman softball pitcher - they can't, because their reflexes are trained on a different distance and angle of pitch. Do you think that might apply to the team of young women facing, for the first time, the amateur but fast and hard pitches of a biological man, who might not always get it over the outside corner? There is danger involved and surely you know it.
And as we all know, the number of young people - especially minors - "identifying" as "trans" (in both directions) has skyrocketed hundreds of percent within just the past few years, so... methinks the NCAA might have to revise their numbers as those kids hit college.
Buttigieg won't just go away.
Mr. and Mrs. Emanuel produced some great progeny - a eugenicist, an arrogant Hollywood agent, and a reptilian politician. The story was that their mother would tell them "I hate all of you equally!"
Fairness in sports is dictated by the rules. Changing the rules, ignoring settled science of what is a female, is not fair. It is way to marginalize women to a point of becoming irrelevant. Yet progressives think this will win them votes.

There is no 'right' to compete in anything. You either meet the qualifications as laid out by the organizers of the tournament, or you don't. New York didn't protect a darn thing, they big-footed over the USTA in the same way all the 'politicians' that Boy Blunder claims to be so worried about always do.

What's your point, Readering? That a biological man will, in almost every case, be faster, stronger, and more effective at most sports than even the best biological woman? Because - interestingly enough - that's our point too.

Rahm Emmanuel is the first Democrat put forth for 2028 with credibility. He and his siblings are snakes but none of them are stupid. Rahm is looking at a group of competitors who make their decisions based on social media poll results and looking past that. He is making his decisions and telling voters to choose to support him or not.
Andrew Sullivan has noted more than once that it is (a) kind of odd, and (b) not at all helpful to ensuring the rights of gay people to somehow blend the "trans" cause with the gay one.
Here's Pete, taking a run at becoming the first openly gay major-party presidential candidate--and who already has challenges with certain demographics because he's gay--embracing a position (I think; he does seem to spout a lot of words without saying much) that will probably worsen his standing.
It's smart of Rahm, although the guy has a ton of baggage, and I don't see him becoming the nominee.

My advice to Buttigieg would be to get a college presidency and then run for Congress in a few years. Pete, you have enough pretentious mental vacuity to do well in either position.
Interesting that so many people see Emanuel's loathsome reptilianness. It shouldn't be hard to miss. Once a politician gets near the nomination, though, Democrats circle the wagons.
