Trick for getting pill into dog: bore a hole in a cheese cube with a straw, put pill in hole. I use monterey. Though you can get fewer pills into a hole than you might think. Assuming dog welcomes cheese. Leftover cheese winds up inside the straw. I'm not sure what to do with that. It seems wasteful to throw it away. I need a need for a small cheese column.

rhhardin Your use of the phrase "small cheese column" reminds me of my German friend's dad who could not think of the English word "straw" so he asked for a drinking column. We got his meaning, though! Also, maybe you could push a chopstick through the straw to pop out the cheese.

We have been giving our old (16+/-) dackel his pills in his favorite cheese or meat since we've had him. Since early April when he got his nasal infection he has been on three regimens of anti-biotic and/or steroids of a couple of weeks each, but he became increasingly finicky and stopped eating altogether several days ago. We know he had a kidney issue too, but were glad to give him whatever he would eat.
He's acting his age now, wobbly and stiff when he bothers to move. My wife is hydrating him with a pill dropper, but he's pretty clearly turning a corner.
"Two NFL teams call Pennsylvania home. Neither should consider calling Pennsylvania when it’s time to finance stadium renovation or construction for their home stadiums.
Via the Associated Press, Governor Josh Shapiro made it clear on Sunday that state money will not be available to sports teams.
“I’m very worried about the overall budget,” Shapiro said Sunday before a NASCAR Cup Series event at Pocono Raceway. “I’m very worried about the overall economic situation given the federal cuts. You want to balance investing in tourism, investing in sports, investing in great arenas and facilities, with making sure that you’re also investing those dollars in things that Pennsylvanians need most.”
And, in Shapiro’s view, Pennsylvanians don’t have a pressing need for sports. He nevertheless wants sports — and more of them — in Pennsylvania.
“I will tell you that we want to make sure the Steelers, we want to make sure the Eagles, and all of our pro teams have outstanding places to play,” Shapiro said. “That are welcoming for fans. That generate revenue. We’re going to continue to dialog with them about what they need and what’s possible.”
He sounds like he's talking out of both sides of his mouth. Pennsylvanians don't have a "pressing need for sports," but the Commonwealth needs to invest in them anyway? Also, how do federal cuts come into play? What interest has the federal government in pro sports?

Musk declares Trump's Big Ugly Bill to be "utterly insane" but routinely accepts very profitable no bid, open-ended contracts from the government which include blowing up rocket ships intended to go to Mars when everyone knows cannot and will not happen in our lifetimes and no one has explained what benefit would result.

The Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office said crews responded to a fire at Canfield Mountain just north of Coeur d’Alene around 1:30 p.m., and gunshots were reported about a half hour later.
Sheriff Bob Norris said officials didn’t know if anyone else was shot.
“We don’t know how many suspects are up there, and we don’t know how many casualties there are,” Norris told reporters at a 4:30 p.m. news conference. “We are actively taking sniper fire as we speak.”

Biggest SpaceX contract for the Feds/DOD is the NRO (National Reconnaissance Office) "constellation" in partnership with Northrop-Grumman (the old TRW LA satellite building operation; I was there a lot in my metrology days). 200+ in orbit at the moment. 12 launches scheduled for 2025 (@9 more to go). These use Falcon9.
Scott Adams shared some good news today: He’s taking a new hormone/testosterone blocker which has arrested his cancer and also has taken away his pain. Although the treatment is not a cure, he hopes it will extend his life by a year or two. Yay.
Next DOD contract for SpaceX (besides ongoing work through 2027 for NRO) is the 450-480 "MILNET" Transport layer communication satellites for Space Command, supposedly to begin launching 2026.
The big US DOD story these days is about the extremely rapid buildup in Space - Near Earth Orbit. Few are talking about it. This is huge. And SpaceX is the only way it can happen. A lot of people are busy keeping their mouths shut, among them Musk, and I think I can tell its eating him that he can't yell about it. Starship is made for this, with 200 tons to NEO per launch, and manufacturing-launch infrastructure at least as extensive as Falcon 9. When its going I expect 2 launches a week (Falcon 9 is at three a week now). You want Pournelles "rods from God?" Wait for Starship.
My theory on why Hitchcock is still so popular is because his movies not only are well made, but - in the best ones - there's rarely a dull moment. Rear Window, for example, is just is just Goddamn thing after another. If we're not laughing at some witty line, we're in suspense, or being chilled by emotional scene.
The other thing, is that even though Hitchcock dealt with murder or spies, etc. he's never "dark and gritty". Even "Pyscho" has a humanity to it. Everyone is normal - except for Norman. And even Norman is a sort of sad figure. There is no glorification in nastiness. Or "Toughness" or where the least evil person is the only one to root for.
gad, think bigger. I certainly hope we will continue to work on meteor defense, but one way to improve our odds of survival as a species is to be multiplanetary. A meteor doesn't have to destroy the planet to cause mass extinction; it's happened several times and will surely happen again.
And, the lessons learned from even the attempt to establish a self-sustaining human presence on another planet will have applications here, as climate changes (which it is doing and will continue to do, with or without any human activity at all).
And, no-bid contracts are common when it's been clearly established that one bidder always wins or is preferable because of its successes - and surely you realize that SpaceX's relationship with the US government long predates Donald Trump.
I already stay out of New York since Cuomo told us that Conservatives don't belong there...WHY would anybody ever go back to what may be coming???

While SpaceX's new fully reusable booster and spacecraft under development collectively known as “Starship” in the main is being funded by SpaceX's own revenues (about 2/3 Starlink these days), SpaceX does have a contract with Nasa to develop a version of Starship known as the “Human Landing System” (HLS) which will serve as a lunar lander, both crewed and cargo in Artemis, worth $4.04 billion (fixed price contract + an additional option which has been taken). Blue Origins has also received a Nasa contract for $3.4 billion, to produce a (much less capable) vehicle for doing much the same thing.

I have no idea (or time to invent one) of what it would take for you to operate a companion blog that invited photography sharing (not cartoons and poster/message "art" - just photos).
Might be interesting. I have several friends of high standing in people and nature photograpy but I know, from personal experience, that even complete amteurs "get lucky" now and then. I believe many of your contributors probably have pictures that would interest all of us.
I know there are many sites where pictures are shared but sharing with total strangers is not as good as sharing with people you're sort of familiar with. This blog does not seem to facilitate personal relationships to the degree that many do, but we kinda know who each other are; or think we do :-)
