"Blown away by the massive ordnance penetrators that have phallicized our world, female political stars seem to have disappeared off the map."
"We were promised Mamala and instead we got Mountainhead.... Why is mighty-voiced Michelle Obama relegating herself to that sappy podcast with her brother? Why are we supposed to admire 44-year-old former New Zealand PM Jacinda Ardern, once idolized for her brave gesture of donning a hijab after a 2019 terrorist attack on a Christchurch mosque, for drippily dropping out in January 2023 because she found politics 'pretty unrelenting.'... And Gretchen 'Big Gretch' Whitmer [has]... now come out from behind the folder, but still… Meanwhile... Liz Cheney... now describes herself on X as 'proud rodeo mom, soccer mom, baseball mom, hockey mom, constitutional conservative'—in that order. Republican Senator Lisa Murkowski... gives a full-throated waffle at the suggestion of daylight between her and the rest of her insane party. 'There is some openness to exploring something different than the status quo,' she said. To the barricades!"

They have The Kardashians.
Bwahahahahahahahahahaha.
Big Mike being called "mighy-voiced" is the euphemism of the year.
Maybe it has always been a mistake to see the world through a Feminist lens of history and that, perhaps, politicians are just people first.
Oh, Tina Brown. Thanks for the trip back to the 70's for "throwback Thursday."
Job One: Keep these virtue-signaling, Commie wannabes as far away from the reins of power as humanly possible!
----- we are doomed to be trapped with the uncouth ranting of the likes of Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, the pert MAGA parroting of WH Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, or the strangely vague utterances of National Intelligence Airhead Tulsi Gabbard,
It's only about this.
Btw, where would the author of this whining pile make it onto anyone's list? Just sayin.
Well, I followed the link and read it: I don't know what her point is. The real world doesn't jive with her preferred paradigm; is that it?
“Now that the 55- year-old bride Sánchez has proved that landing the fourth richest man in the world requires the permanent display of breasts like genetically modified grapefruit and behemoth buttocks bursting from a leopard-print thong bikini, she’s exuberantly and unapologetically shown that the route to power and glory for women hasn't changed since the first Venetian Republic.”
She knows who Daddy is.
Anne Carson says the vagina is the mouth that needs to be silenced. (The Gender of Sound)
"Verbal continence is an essential feature of the masculine virtue of sophrosyne ("prudence, soundness of mind, moderation, temperance, self-control") that organizes most patriarchal thinking on ethical or emotional matters. Woman as a species is frequently said to lack the ordering principle of sophrosyne. [...] So too, ancient discussions of the virtue of sophrosyne demonstrate clearly that, where it is applied to women, this word has different definition than for men. Female sophrosyne is coextensive with female obedience to male direction and rarely means more than chastity. When it does mean more, the allusion is often to sound. A husband exhorting his wife or concubine to sophrosyne is likely to mean "Be quiet!" [...] In general the women of classical literature are a species given to disorderly and uncontrolled outflow of sound—to shrieking, wailing, sobbing, shrill lament, loud laughter, screams of pain or of pleasure and eruptions of raw emotion in general. [...] When a man lets his current emotions come up to his mouth and out through his tongue he is thereby feminized... [...]
It is a fundamental assumption of these gender stereotypes that a man in his proper condition of sophrosyne should be able to dissociate himself from his own emotions and so control their sound. It is a corollary assumption that man's proper civic responsibility towards women is to control her sound for her insofar as she cannot control it herself.
Tina Brown asks a lot of questions - does she pose any answers?
Tina channels Peggy Lee:
And when I was 71 years old
My daddy took me to the circus,
The greatest show on earth
There were clowns and elephants, dancing bears
And a beautiful lady in pink tights flew high above our heads
As I sat there watching
I had the feeling that something was missing
I don't know what
When it was all over I said to myself
"Is that all there is to the circus?"
Don’t despair, Tina. They’re grooming Jasmine and AOC to take the lead….into oblivion.

Tina Brown needs to lay off the Chardonnay before 4:00 pm. I am afraid she just wandered into the bar worse for wear after last night's inebriations.
you're talking about female leaders?
and you DON'T mention Italy's PM Giorgia Meloni?
oh, i see; you're ONLY talking about leftie ladies..
and you're wondering why leftie ladies aren't in the news anymore?
protip: BECAUSE THEY'RE LEFTIES!
Nothing says female empowerment like donning the garment of female oppression.
Too many right-brain connections, is the problem. It's sex-linked.
If she recognized that conservative or simply non-leftist women are still, you know, women then she would see how many strong intelligent women there are in politics now. More than ever.
Unfortunately most of my examples, Lara Trump (RNC chair) and Tulsi and Anna Paulina Luna (FL congressperson) and Kristi Noem are all so much more attractive than Brown (ever was) that she can't help being catty and mean, which has become the hallmark of modern Feminism. Feminism has devolved into a (biologically) woman-hating religion because of leftist politics, which ruins everything it infects.
Gag me with a spoon.
4th paragraph ends with The Great Gatsby close, "borne bacl ceaselessly into the past".
Mamala and Michelle, and Jacinda, and fetchin' Gretchen (the Slime Queen)..
oh! and lizard Cheney and Lisa!
ALL these losers are lost.. because they are losers, on a losing team.
It'd be like asking: "why doesn't Former Law Clerk have his own sucksessfull podcast?
Because they are LOSERS!
She sounds like Titania McGrath but for popular culture, or something. I have no idea who she is so I'll have to figure out what her purpose is, but she certainly has a bee in her bonnet about women.
(Somebody posted a link yesterday or the day before to a couple of YouTubers going by the channel name Based Camp, and for the second half of my walk yesterday I was listening to their episode on whether feminism is - rather than women again patriarchy - lower market value women against higher market value women, as the man on the show contended, or the reverse, as the woman did. I agree with the woman. The man was just mansplaining himself into a corner at the point where I left off. He interrupts a lot. But then, so do I.)
bacl should be back. Man, if I could type. Or is it onset dementia?
Women used to march carrying giant erect phalluses in celebration of something, with strings to pull them erect. That was before TV.
Good catch. I was too domestic in my survey. Meloni is an excellent example of a powerful woman. Her rolling her eyes at Macron is the highlight of every summit. At least she doesn't punch him in the face like his wife.

A footnote. And not mentioned by name.
They have forsaken beauty, truth and light for the grotesque, lies and darkness. Everything that traditionally uplifted the human spirit and inspired us has been condemned by their modern idolatry, in which they place themselves as the highest power of the universe, and it is only the power to scoff, and sneer and create envy and strife among their cohorts, tear down any of them who dare escape the ghetto of their failed ideology.
I am woman
Hear me roar.
The blog has a theme this morning, Tina Brown is a buzzkill.
This is why I say that prohibitions on chemical warfare are sexist. Women use poison, men use spears and projectiles. Men are horrified by poison because that little five foot two cutie sleeping next your six foot four frame can still take you out, if she decides to.
Is this an article about how women shouldn't be in politics? Maybe Tina Brown would prefer them barefoot and pregnant or wearing slinky strapless (easily removable) dresses in nightclubs?
There are strong smart women in politics, even if Tina Brown and Michelle Obama can't think of any.
Wonder if we’ll ever get to simply talking about the ideas, and not the particular people espousing them…. It seems our skin, lumps, and bumps is all we can focus on.
I think that rhhardin missed Anne Carson’s point entirely. It’s pretty hard to get it so wrong. While I frequently agree with Sophocles when it comes to leftie women [mouths/doors], Anne Carson wouldn’t.

Tina Brown on a roll! At first I thought it was Paglia. Anyway, she doesn't really care. And I'm sure Liz Cheney has more than one buffalo.
Iran was penetrated!
There is something of witchcraft in chemical warfare.

It’s been two weeks since she last posted an article when she normally posts every couple of days.
Everything else is just a reflection of the narcissistic “bad hangover” mood she is in.
And what the f*ck does "insane" mean?
"The party that thinks outside the tight little parameters that I have set for all 'right thinking people' for issues that are incredibly complex and don't have solutions, just options, some better than others, but 'which is better than which' is only open to debate among the insane?"
Those darn voters...
"once idolized for her brave gesture of donning a hijab after a 2019 terrorist attack on a Christchurch mosque,"
Its amazing how women, especially powerful leftwing women, are always patting themselves on the back for being "brave" for agreeing with the MSM and the rich and powerful.
Lizzie Cheney a “proud rodeo mom”?
The closest she’s been to a rodeo is being repeatedly “rode hard and put away wet” by the happy-to-oblige Democrats.
Nothing says female empowerment like donning the garment of female oppression.
My book club meet last night, and as usual, the book we were discussing had a Strong Female Character who must Fight the Patriarchy (in this case, the glassmaking industry of Murano, from the 1500s to the present - the writer used a gimmicky "time travel" "time passes differently in Venice" conceit in order to keep the same Strong Female Character throughout).
The sñbook itself, actually, did a pretty good job of not hammering on the feminist thing: the writer used the true story of beadwork on Murano (which was the only glasswork the women of glass families were allowed to do in the Renaissance) to advance the main character's evolution from glasswork support crew, doing laundry and cooking, to financial support of the family.
But my friends! They HAD to turn our discussion to how women are still battling for equality today. One told the story of the woman who founded Megababe, a company that produces (I suppose among other things) some kind of balm or something specifically for women that you put on your thighs to keep them from chafing* when you're wearing a skirt on a hot day. Apparently the men who listened to her capital-raising pitch told her that it wouldn't sell unless it also had an anti-cellulite component. The horror!
* You know, like BodyGlide. Which has been around forever, but apparently can't be used by women in skirts, only runners.
Sometimes a bomb is just a bomb.
What is the former editor of Vanity Fair and The New Yorker doing on Substack? It seems like an odd place for a waspish, liberal woman who, not so long ago, was demanding that Substack purge the "Nazis" on its site and engage in rigorous censorship.
It was the Tina Brown's of the world who foisted Michelle Obama on the universe to begin with. Michelle, one of the most miserable human beings in modern memory, was on the cover of more magazines, presented as glamorous (that word has lost all meaning), looked to for advice, praised and bestowed with awards for...for...well...for...I'm not quite sure.
She hates America, apparently does not think much of her husband, had to be begged to attend Jimmy Carter's funeral, and generally seems to be not happy as a person. How is this a go-to for women to view as a 'strong' woman? Michelle seems not even happy being Michelle. How's she going to lead anyone else in anything else?
All of us know and love the strong women in our own lives. Why any of us would look to Tina Brown for direction on a list of women to admire is beyond me. Tina Brown? Seriously? Heh.
"Why is mighty-voiced Michelle Obama relegating herself to that sappy podcast with her brother?"
Like swift-running Achilles, she sulks in her ever-shrinking tent of like-mind bubble-dwellers o're the wine-dark sea, wah-de-do-dah.
Blown away by the massive ordnance penetrators that have phallicized our world, female political stars seem to have disappeared off the map.
It's a great line, but the voters weren't thinking about MOPs yet when they chose Trump's big dick energy over the cast of Karens she lists there.
What Tina Brawn doesn't want to admit is all these women named are complete mediocrities, who were given positions of power because of (1) their family connections cf michelle and Cheney or (2) because they are women.
Any man with "Kam" or Whitmer's political skills and charima would never gotten nominated or elected. There are plenty of powerful skilled women, Pelosi comes to mind. And then there's Kari Lake and Susan Collins too.
Its like the SCOTUS of the 5 female justices, only Ginsberg deserved to be their on merit. And you can make a case for Kagan. The others would never gotten a seat if they'd been male.
BTW, you have to wonder based on the headline if the person involved spoke English is a second language, or whether it was translated from German or Russian. God, no wonder the New Yorker went down the toilet under her leadership.
All of us know and love the strong women in our own lives. Why any of us would look to Tina Brown for direction on a list of women to admire is beyond me.
Hear! Hear!
I’m often surprised by what people will look at then point out it looks like penis. Now it is a MOP. I suspect Tina probably thinks the same about mops. One wonders what Tina uses to excite herself, and then they decide it is nothing worth wondering about at all.
Maybe it's because we've had 10 years now of exactly the opposite and the pendulum is swinging back.
Here is my contribution to the discussion. I went looking to see if this ever became a product. Yes!
Megababe is for sale on the web. It comes in a stick like deodorants, and is good for 15,000 steps.

If Murkowski wants to be brave she should leave the Republican Party and join the Democratic Party right this moment.
THE INSANE PARTY:
• The Party of de-fund the police
• The Party of Antifa and BLM riots - billions damage
• The Party of Liz Cheney Jan 6th lies
• The Party of Liz Cheney gets a pardon
• The Party of Biden and 8000 pardons
• The Party of Crook Joe and 6 family pardons
• The Party of forced jabs and censorship
• The Party of men in women's sports
• The Party of men in women's private spaces
• The Party of Assassins
• The Party of COVID lockdowns
• The Party of threats toward Supreme Court justices
• The Party of fake Wet Market BS
• The Party of slavery
There’s more…
@Leland, the same kind of thing occurred to me. I look at the M.O.P. and see a bomb. If you mentioned it, I would think of a bomb. But now that she brings it up as a phallic reference, I can see the comedy of it, some greasy blue collar guy with a porn mustache saying 'here comes the massive ordnance penetrator, baby'. But it doesn't make me think positively of Brown.
It's like seeing Caitlin Clark getting the crap knocked out of her on the court - yet again - by other players, cheap shots all, with ref's standing by doing nothing. And then, women complaining because nobody takes women's sports seriously.
Men are simple. If you want to be taken seriously by men, then be serious.
The theme of whining, complaining and victimhood - marches on in the leftist press.
btw- Beyonce fake cowgirl - did that land ok? I doubt anyone in the country music fan world likes it.
Lisa Murkey isn't going to leave the R party unless she has to. Because she get elected in Alaska - a Republican state - by getting x percent of "Moderate Republicans" to vote for her.
Thats why she and the moderate Republicans pushed through ranked voting. IN a 3-way race the Republican candidate (who won the primary against Lisa Murkey) doesn't get enough votes to have 50.1 percent. It then goes to 2nd choice. All the D's choose lisa Murkey is their 2nd choice and when you throw in the R moderates - Murkey wins.
If she ran a D - it would be a 2 man race, and she'd lose.
The One serious woman in the WNBA.
Aggie at 8:37 AM,
Wow!!!!
Like Liz Cheney she got the job because her father was also a Long serving Republican politician. Without the family connection, she couldn't get elected to dog catcher.
Although Liz beats her for being even more famous with less talent. Cheney is abrasive, has little charisma, and lacks the common touch. SHe was elected because of her name. Got the 3rd position in the House due to connections with the big donors, and was willing to join the D's in the attacking trump.
But nobody really likes her.
But then her father wasn't much of grass roots pol either. He got appointed to several postions in the Ford, and Bush 41 administrations, And got picked as VP. Did anyone vote for Bush 43 because of Cheney's dazzling campaign skills? LOL.
Dick Cheney got himself elected as wyoming Rep in 1980. That's his only elected office. Once he won the primary (due to money), he was in for life.
I now see the graphic was from, I think, Clarke's last year in college.

Seeing the world through the lens of celebrities in popular culture is pure insanity.
In this season of Sex and the City sequel And Just Like That, the obligatory black addition to the friend group is an indie docunentarian. She pitches PBS on a doc about under-sung black women of history, but the (black, women) PBS producers make her change the subject to Mrs Obama.
I thought that was a bit subversive for a lefty show.
But then the prime audience for the show is gay men. They may be in the mood for some catty backlash (catlash?) after so many years of forced worship.
Ravishing Regards,

Apparently, Michelle Obama isn't allowed to live her best life as a podcast host.
I think we all need to applaud the former first lady for her adherence to the philosophy of Dirty Harry:
"A man's got to know his limitations"
"Blown away by the massive ordnance penetrators that have phallicized our world, female political stars seem to have disappeared off the map. We were promised Mamala and instead we got Mountainhead.... Why is mighty-voiced Michelle Obama relegating herself to that sappy podcast with her brother? Why are we supposed to admire 44-year-old former New Zealand PM Jacinda Ardern, once idolized for her brave gesture blah blah blah…”
Because just to confound the cynics, sometimes the world really does get better.
Michelle Obama is really a politicians wife, not a politician. Witmer was a censorship nazi, willing to imprison anyone guilty wrong think, especially other women. The others are rejected by the left for being righties and by the right for being turncoats. That might be okay when you earn historic preservation status in congress but it’s bad political strategy for a general election….so, in conclusion: these women suck…
I think it’s a mistake to refer to Michelle as ‘mighty-voiced’. This is supposed to be an article about women but that description can easily be interpreted as she has masculine qualities, which leads to the usual quip about a penis being involved and it isn’t Barack’s…
Well, that was a fun read, but jeez, the examples in there are all losers. As others have pointed out, there are great looking women on the right, and, she could have pointed out others, like Kate Middleton, or, in case you haven't seen the picture, Queen Maxima of The Netherlands:
"Why is mighty-voiced Michelle Obama relegating herself to that sappy podcast with her brother?"
Because she's a mid-wit?

Lisa is 68 years old. She's up for reelection next year.
She'll run as a Rep (because the reps Still have the majority)
IF the dems win a majority in the Senate; she'll
a) switch to being a dem (AFTER being reelected as a rep)
b) serve out the 26-32 term and retire at 75 years old
That she'd NEVER get reelected as a dem doesn't matter, she's ALREADY 68 years old.. One more term one way or another.
The Real Question IS: How F*CKING STUPID are Alaskans?
The rise and fall of the they/them/she/her phallic dreamcoat girlboss era seems to have gone soft.
Jacinda:lefties celebrate her because she locked non-vaccine Covid folks in camps. Michelle: she now tells us she hates her husband, hated his positions on raising their daughters. And Ti a thinks Beyoncé is the reigning country music queen? Tina is totally lost.
Alaska - we beg you - please reject Lisa Murkowski and find someone better.
ay dios mioom, that doesn't make sense in any language,
jacinda she should be thrown into one of those volcanoes,
michelle that ill tempered harridan, whose audience was more selective, than she ever though, kelly tshibaka would have been fine, but she wouldn't have gone along with the grift, tudor dixon was michigan's loss, instead of that reptilian whitmer, who was only elected because of that fraudulent coen bros plot,
Republican women ascending ever, ever more quoth the craven.
You have to admire the metaphor. Symbolically, Iran too it up the nether parts. The message was more important than the damage assessments. It said: Look what we can do to you.
I didn't know Tina Brown had a dairy.
Was:
"I am woman
Hear me roar.
Now:
THESE are your women?
Hear me snore.
Penetration in the Centerfold!
Funny, I see lots of rising, female stars in the GOP.
Tina Brown's article, boiled down to its essence:
1) Conservative women who are successful and, even worse, effective must be mocked, torn down, belittled, or, at the very least, shunned and ignored.
2) On the one hand, women aren't supposed to be exactly like men (women, by definition, assuming they can be defined, obviously are much better), but on the other hand, when women -- even the most adulated liberal women -- don't behave exactly like men, they are considered to be disappointments.
As an aside, Jacinda Adern recently spoke at Yale's senior class day. Naturally, she received rapturous applause. She spent a fair amount of timing speaking Maori to people who didn't know the language. I imagine her co-religionists would be equally enraptured by a white American visiting New Zealand and sharing some thoughts in Lakota. It's only cultural appropriation when people we don't like do it, amiright?
The Titania comparison gave me a big laugh, Jamie. Perfect.
And please allow me to apologize on behalf of all men for the fact that missiles tend to be dick-shaped. I think it has something to do with aerodynamics, but it's still inexcusable.
“Ordnance penetrators?” “Phallicized?” Absurd! Her “stars,” all Dems or wannabes, have just been overshadowed by the likes of AOC, Ilhan Omar, Jasmine Crockett, Letty James, et al, who are representative of what the Democratic Party has become. If she is looking for real female stars, which of course she is not, she could start with Trump’s cabinet.
Tina sometimes a bomb is just a bomb. Now I'll admit that the Massive Ordinance Penetrator is "phallic shaped". But have you seen pictures of Little Boy--the atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima? More like an egg shaped trash can with fins.
For anyone interested I can see a very profitable marketing opportunity for manufacturing dildos in the shape of Massive Ordinance Perpetrators.
I think Freud would agree.
Humans as a species sometimes ALLOW women to hold symbolic motherly power, nursing power, or teaching power. See UK queens Elizabeth I, Victoria, and Elizabeth II. Women look great on coins, as statues, and in portraits, but men have always done the fighting to enforce national control, secure empires, and maintain operational power hierarchies.
Females achieve male physical strength and performance only in video games and fantasy action films...and in the minds of deluded ideologues who didn't learn a thing in their Biology 101 classes or from their gradeschool recess breaks.
You can't fight evolved male/female sex differences, and they are really really really robust across mammal species.
Every woman she mentions has had her Karenist or proggy assumptions collide with reality. The price of power. It isn’t surprising they’ve either retreated or lay supine.
"Apparently the men who listened to her capital-raising pitch told her that it wouldn't sell unless it also had an anti-cellulite component. The horror!"
The professors of the guy who founded Fedex thought it was a crazy idea, even with all those phallic airplanes converging on the center of the country.
The men are back in charge of this country, and the feminists are melting down. After dithering and making everyone feel good about themselves, we are done with stupid female leadership, at least for the next probably 8 years at least. You say that Biden was male. Sure, at one point in his life, but he was senile, and to the most part, he was just a front for mostly women, starting with his wife. Turns out, even his Autopen was controlled by a woman. And Obama even looked effeminate, and again was surrounded by strong willed women. .
There is a good reason that men have almost always been put in charge of defense. They see what must be done, to defend the tribe, or the nation, and do it. Women, in general, think locally, and worry about interpersonal relations, over bigger issues, like defense. Who in their right mind would have sacrificed so many children to protect transsexuals and make them feel good about their mental condition? Or brought in and protected millions of illegals around the world?
One weakness of women in charge is that they are not as focused on the bottom line. Instead, process for many is the important thing. It lets them talk, talk, talk. We are seeing this now in foreign policy, with results being almost irrelevant, and the negotiating being the primary goal. Trump/Rubio have been a breath of fresh air. Ditto with Hegseth, taking over at Defense. No special consideration for making transgendered feel good about themselves. The goal of our military is the break things and kill enemies. And keep the counter strong, powerful, and safe. Manly men and women, doing manly things in a manly way.
And got picked as VP.
Nope. Cheney picked himself as VP.
Poor Tina seems to have a case of phallus envy.
We wouldn't have to worry about Lisa Murkey - if the R's had just voted Democrat in 2016 or voted none of the above. This was after Murkey had lost the R Primary 2010 and then ran as a "Write in" candidate in 2010.
The R's *refuse* to punish their traitors and "mavericks". They really are the stupid party. McCain spent 8 years stabbing the Conservatives and Republicans in the back after he lost the R Primary in 2000. So what did the R voters do? They nominated him for POTUS!
Too bad you can't bottle and sell that kind of dumbness.
If Tina Brown's head hasn't exploded yet, can we have her deported? If her head already has exploded, could somebody please clean up the mess.
Tina doesn't mention the congressional "Squad," who've surely achieved some notoriety. She also doesn't mention the pack of Congresswomen Democrats have elected over the last decade (some of them apparently with CIA connections -- what's up with that?). Are the Democrat women really not worthy of notice?
Tina sometimes a bomb is just a bomb. Now I'll admit that the Massive Ordnance Penetrator [it's “Ordnance” not “Ordinance”, by the way] is “phallic shaped”. But have you seen pictures of Little Boy—the atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima? More like an egg shaped trash can with fins.
“Little Boy”—the Hiroshima bomb—was “phallic shaped”: because of the way that it worked, with a “gun” type action. It was “Fat Man”—the Nagasaki bomb—that was “egg shaped”: because of the way it worked; as a plutonium bomb it necessarily employed an “implosion” method; ergo, it was egg shaped.
Re: "bacl" instead of "back". Just like me, you are not misspelling words but rather making simple typos. For me (I compose at the keyboard of my laptop and haven't printed out anything more than a shopping list in decades), my fingers sometimes go too fast, trying to catch up with my brain. I am not a perfect typist, so I make errors and have to backtrack. And because of the way I let the heel of my hands rest near the keyboard, my cursor sometimes jumps all over the page, causing sentence fragments inside completed sentences. Today I wrote out a chapter of my memoirs, a rough draft -- but as my rough drafts go, about 90% there (I am a good writer if I say so myself -- I write what is usually the final draft unless it is something I want to publish and I don't want to be embarrassed by silly errors and misspellings because I did not take the time to proofread). It was about my grandfather and I posted it on Facebook. I find that forum is a good secondary place to keep each chapter and FB is easily searchable. When I re-read it after posting, I discovered that I wrote the word "the" twice in a row in a sentence. Who knows what my 70-year-old brain was doing at the time.
Lastly, as a writer and former journalist/newspaper editor, I have a fair grasp of the English language and use a variety of words in my compositions -- not three dollar words nor words cheaper by the dozen -- but a middle ground: maybe between a buck and a buck twenty word vocabulary. So it is with dismay that lately when I need to conjure up a word either in conversation or writing -- a simple word that accurately reflects what I want to convey -- I find myself blank! Sometimes it comes to me and sometimes I give up. It is very frustrating and I attribute it to age. Old age.
