"You can often find the eldest brother of the Successor of the Prince of the Apostles down at the Twisted Fork restaurant in Port Charlotte, Fla., where, on Honky-Tonk Thursdays..."

"... he is most likely boot-scooting along with the rest of the line dancers. His ringtone plays the opening riffs of Led Zeppelin’s 'Immigrant Song.' He incurred $20,000 in roof damage from Hurricane Ian. And until recently, anyone could read his Facebook posts, which included vulgar potshots at Nancy Pelosi and her husband and a pronouncement that supporters of Joseph R. Biden Jr. suffered from a 'mental affliction.'..."

I'm reading "The Pope’s Florida Brother, a MAGA Disciple, Plans to ‘Tone It Down’/Louis Prevost’s Facebook posts — no longer publicly viewable — suggest that he has embraced some of the most common complaints and conspiracy theories of the right" in the NYT.

The writing is snazzy, but I'm uncomfortable with something so close to doxxing. You're giving a place and time where this man has heretofore enjoyed simple social pleasures, displaying his photograph, and giving your readers reason to feel antagonistic toward him, using Facebook material that he has tried to take private. Why?

But Louis Prevost went on Piers Morgan and talked about the Facebook posts, and he's answering questions from the NYT. "Well, I posted it, and I wouldn’t have posted it if I didn’t kind of believe it," he says.

Why?

They're desperate for a win. Another activist Pope would be such a win and they don't want anything, like a loudmouth Trump supporting brother, to distract from the fantasy they're all lost in. From what I've read Francis left the Vatican in a financial mess due to the focus on social activism, I won't be surprised to find out that Leo is a more responsible (read less activist) Pontiff. In fact I expect they might have elected him for that very reason.

As with everything on the left- if you do not dutifully and obediently support the left - at every turn - you will be denounced as a conspiracy nut.

It's a good thing this pope isn't a declared Democrat, or this guy would be toast. He might be, anyway. He should get in touch with the police and make sure they're prepared for SWAT'ing calls, 'cuz that's how Progressives roll these days.

Hurricane roof damage costing $20k! The nerve of this guy making a claim after a hurricane.

Well Aggie we take the 2nd Amendment very seriously here and I hope for their sake, the trantifa-Left leave him alone.

Did he believe that ridiculous conspiracy theory that Biden's mental facilities were diminishing and he wasn't up for another term as president? Cause if he did, what a loon!

On further thought; I also suspect that the NYT is owned/operated by Satanists.

The NYTs is a cog in a National Socialist model. Everything for the party everything for the State.

This is just how progressives act.

They are completely incompatible with a free high trust so I.

The priesthood attracts an odd group of people. This information about his brother gives me more hope than I previously had that this guy's oddness hasn't made him a fool.
A few things the Pope should do. End priestly celibacy. Let women be priests. Understand capitalism. Understand the nature of the Islamic situation.
This brother's groundedness makes me think there's a decent chance we could get a pope who has figured a few things out.

Yes, the Times is pulling a CNN (which has a history of doxxing regular people for their social media posts), but in truth, where this guy lives, his opinions are normal, unremarkable. Nobody there will be surprised or care that he's MAGA.

tim maguire writes, "where this guy lives, his opinions are normal, unremarkable. Nobody there will . . . care that he's MAGA."

True as far as it goes, but he doesn't just live in Florida, he lives in the whole USofA, and that place is chock full o' violent lefty nuts.

There are undoubtedly people who read the NYT where this guy lives, and they do not find his opinions normal or unremarkable.

Calling the brother of the pope a MAGA "disciple" is particularly tacky.

Dave Begley చెప్పారు...

Why did the NYT publish this story? Simple. They want to conduct a high-tech crucifixion of him because he's not a leftist. Per the NYT, all conservatives must be destroyed so that others won't act and think like conservatives. Sending a message.

The Press is the Enemy of the People and they prove it every single day.

It’s also possible that lefties in the Church want to give traditional Catholics a false hope that the danger to the Catholic Church has passed. Just as with politicians so with popes - trust but verify.

Those are never gonna happen. No matter how much the non-Catholics stammer about them.

Anyone who wants those things can go to any number of non-denominational/splitter Cristian churches. They've all lost their way...

Eva Marie చెప్పారు...

Let me just add this.
Ampersand commented, “A few things the Pope should do. End priestly celibacy. Let women be priests. Understand capitalism. Understand the nature of the Islamic situation.”
Women priests and understand capitalism and Islam are 2 contradictory impulses.
1. Bringing women into the priesthood (especially at this time) would be the end of the Catholic Church.
2. What women would become priests? Traditional Catholic women? No. Radical leftie women. Yes. Those radical leftie women (kind of like the Episcopal Priest who lectured Trump) do not understand capitalism or Islam. So if your wish is for a more right leaning Catholic Church you will definitely not get it with female priests.

Look, I'm a nobody, but I used to publish and podcast a lot before I was cancelled and removed from youtube and several online sites, so the New York Times has tried to engage me five times over the years. Twice because I unambiguously proved to the editors that an opinion piece seriously misrepresented facts about sex crime bills. Their rule, they told me, was not to do retractions like that, but they would publish a letter from me "positively" adding "extra information." I fell for that once, and they altered the letter without my permission or notice. I felt dirty, but I was lying to add to their lies. Scum.

They tried to interview me for quotes three other times. I said only in writing, no phone calls. They refused. They're scum. NEVER talk to them. That's what I told three of my writer friends whom they were really looking to smear. NEVER let the Times near you. They make whores out of nuns, and nuns out of whores. Hang up on them immediately.

Jimmy Carter had his brother Billy. Billy Beer. Yum.

Iman చెప్పారు...

I heard some radio chat about Louis when I was on my morning walk yesterday that gave me a chuckle:

Louis was asked whether his views and approach to life differed all that much from his brother, Pope Leo.

Louis said something along the lines of “I have strong opinions and won’t hesitate sharing them. You come at me, I’ll settle your hash. My brother? Not so much.

Iman చెప్పారు...

Billy Beer? Sweet Jaysus, enigma… your taste buds are in your ass.

Tom Locker చెప్పారు...

Look at the Catholic female religious (Nuns) for a sample of the kinds of women who would want to be priests. You'll have trouble finding a more loony, lefty group.

Readering చెప్పారు...

He has another brother in Illinois, who is probably more press savy after a career in education, including school principal. Hopefully less of a live wire. I recall that Benedict's brother, a priest, was often interviewed, and provided insightful responses.

What would those "conspiracy theories" be? The Trump collusion with Russia thing was actually a Deep State frame-up? Joe Biden was mentally and physically debilitated while President and while running for re-election, which was censored by the press? The US Government blackmailed Google into censoring persons critical of the government's positions on Covid and vaccines?

He sounds like a whack-job. (sarc).

Michael Fitzgerald చెప్పారు...

"Why?"
Because Democrat Party members are vicious, lowlife scumbags who want non-Party members dead. They doxx Republicans and non-libtard people because they want them punished, want them living in fear of the many, many mentally ill and violent Party members in the USA.
Of course, asswipey Party members pretend to be ignorant of this and innocent of their leaders and media companies threatening violence even as they stand in the halls of congress and promise to attack, hunt down, and kill their opponents. It's one of the shittiest things about Democrat Party members, and it's why those threats and assaults happen daily- because libtard assholes want it to happen.

Tina Trent చెప్పారు...

Tom Locker: there is an absolutely delightful subculture of traditional nuns podcasting, on tictock, and even in a documentary on Max, God is the Bigger Elvis, which I highly recommend. It's about Dolores Hunt, who left Hollywood as a rising A-list actress, starring in Where The Boys Are and other Elvis films, to become a cloistered nun. Traditional nuns are making a comeback, and they radiate satisfaction, sacrifice, and joy.

Tina Trent చెప్పారు...

Catholicism values women as women, as intellectuals, as moral arbiters, as historical warriors, as mothers, and as the Church itself in an unique way among world religions. I'm not claiming absolute moral supremacy over other faiths. But traditional Catholicism offers women great freedom in a special sphere, thus removed from petty politics, and recognizing womanhood in its fullest, including pure scholarship and pure service.

john mosby చెప్పారు...

Trent: I am not a fan of the RC's, but I agree with most of what you're saying. But I also think it's beside the point when defending any Christian denomination.

Yes, a lot of oppression of women took place under Catholicism. But a lot happened under any religion you pick.
Christianity stands out from the pile (in a good way) because it started with the testimony of women (not a great foundation in the first century) and the active involvement of women (wealthy supporters, 'deaconesses' and at least one female 'apostle,' whatever Paul meant by those words). The convent with all its faults provided women with a socially acceptable way to escape being treated as breeding machines (just as the monastery let men get out of a life of battles and loveless dynastic marriages).

And I will get one more thump on my dead horse: any advances we made in modern civilization, in gender equality or anything else, we owe to the Christian idea that every soul is equal before God.
