ADDED: Kristen Welker likes to needle Trump with questions in the form of "What do you say to people who say....?"

Trump on "Meet the Press."
Watch the whole thing. I did.I thought it was good, balanced sparring and that he said nothing that surprised or shocked me. How about you?

Of course you did. You so desperately want the corporate mainstream media to be the locus of your political paradigm.
Now compare and contract with the average interview of a Democrat by these hacks and propagandists.
If you want real information you have to go to the long form podcast scene and places like substack.
By the way Germany is doing to AFD what the Regime would have done if they stole the 2024 election too. Welker is not a good person. She would be a good little German NAZI if given the chance.
"nothing that surprised or shocked me"... that isn't the question Ann... DID HE SAY THINGS THAT MAKE SENSE? That is what matters. And yes, to me they made sense.
“I think the good parts are the Trump economy and the bad parts are the Biden economy,” Trump said.
This. Is. Hilarious. Perfectly said. With any other politician it’d be a career defining gaffe but with this guy it’s just another delusional day.
Trump says he does "not know" if he needs to uphold the US constitution.
There should be some ritual before a person becomes president where they promise to uphold the constitution.
Some oath.
Expect nothing less from a convicted felon.
Compare and contrast to Biden or any other Dem president. Not one has gone against an antagonistic, hostile media like Trump did.
YGBFKM.
Trumps deserves props, not condescension.
He should go on Rogan and get 20x the audience.
Anyone parroting that stupid “convicted felon” trope forfeits all credibility.
I like how NBC is now platforming and normalizing literally Hitler, who after all, does hold their broadcast licenses in his hands.
My reaction was just like Ann's. I learned nothing.
he said nothing that surprised or shocked me.
It used to be that a long-form network interview like this was bound to make news. In fact, it was often agreed to just so the President could break news on his own account.
Now he takes questions every day. And if he wants to say something new, he does it at a rally so he can get immediate and unfiltered feedback on how it's being received.
The Sunday shows are dead as a news-gathering mechanism. They now serve Trump's interests, as the clips coming out of them are more likely to put the media in a bad light.
"We were losing hundreds of billions of dollars with China. Now we're essentially not doing business with China. Therefore, we're saving hundreds of billions of dollars. It's very simple." ~ Donald Trump (NBC)
We weren’t losing money, we were getting product of equivalent value. By his logic, every time you buy groceries, you’re losing because you used to have $20 but now all you have is food for dinner.
The mere thought the ChiComs might lose leverage over the US in terms of trade and critical commodities/components/materials sends Abacus Boy LLR-democratical Rich, the Harry Sisson of Althouse blog, right over the edge!
Welker v. Trump, ..., how anyone could extract anything substantive from such a match is beyond me.
well it takes five hours to cut through that web of category error,
but it's a good start, I'm sure the prog chimps are revolting, but thats a day ending in y for them

Should be titled - Debate the press.
And talking about the 3rd term troll? What a waste of time. And sanctions on Russia - yes, Trump's going to give away his entire negotiating strategy.
Why Trump gives them air time and rating is beyond me. I think he just liked debating Liberals. And finds it fun.
So you will talk to him about making canada the 51st state. Derp derp. What a stupid question!

“the prog chimps are revolting”…
Yes. Perhaps they should bathe and up their anti-psychotic meds.
Rich and his ongoing kaktastrophic mental breakdown are an amusing scream on a sunny Sunday afternoon!
Ka-catastrophic.

What does the 'Trump 27' tag mean?
Trailer: "Don't you need to uphold the Constitution of the United States? "I don't know...." .....
And then these editing hacks cut him off, but made it look like that was his answer. I'm pretty sure I don't need to hear such bullsh*t, bad-faith tactics from such complete propagandist *ssholes. You don't hate them enough.
By Trump going on Meet the Press, he stays up-to-date on where the left is. It was interesting to hear his way of responding to "People say ..." "Other people say something different." And that silenced The Whelp. I guess I noticed also that Whelper was utterly, totally, completely indifferent to the fact that America is doing better. She was prying about looking for an effective attack, like a carjacker looking for a way in. Basically trying to keep her job - though if I were her I'd be considering how to have a job in five years, not how to keep one in a dying media form.
The USA media "spars" with a Republican president. With a Democrat Party president, it's foreplay.
yes shes not really good at this, f chuck could pretend to be this stupid,
Per the Daily Caller website, millions of people are unemployed in China and there are riots. Workers not being paid. Goldman Sachs says up to 16 million Chinese may become unemployed because of the tariffs.
Does MSNBC or CNN report this? This is a big, big deal.
Its very dangerous to use simplistic metaphors for international trade with China. China is not "like a grocery store."
How many grocery stores are in your town? More than one. And different owners, with competitive pricing.
China is ONE country, under control by communists who are not exactly friendly. So if you begin to rely on them exclusively, maybe because they subsidize the cost of steel or whatever, it would be like relying on an unfriendly monopoly store to sell you your food. And the store has scowling guards with submachine guns.
You think you're doing free trade with a nice friendly store who respects you. In fact, that store is training its employees that you are the enemy and stealing your tech.
How many of you would cheerfully buy a copycat product of your own patented design? No, in fact, you would be really upset about that. You wouldn't want North Korea to be the only producer of cancer meds, either.
So drop the simplistic UNREALISTIC metaphors.
well all they have are rotten metaphors,
Now let's drop another dumb theory or two that was promoted in the 90s:
No, if China becomes richer it will not become a natural bourgeoisie democracy. That's been proved by now. So you are not trading with them, while they slowly become more like Japan.
Second deadly myth: we will make "Advanced" stuff and they will sell us less advanced manufactures. This has an assumption that the West can continually be on the forefront of all technology.
TSMC of Taiwan should give you pause on that assumption.
How about airplanes? Well, we taught the Chinese through joint ventures and now Ryanair may by COMAC planes.
Weren't they supposed to buy Boeings? LOL - China is mercantilist. They don't want to buy shit from foreigners, except raw materials and maybe some food. Oh sure luxury whiskey and rolex - those can still be sold to them.
MRI machines are a big American export. China literally spent a billion dollars to fund R&D so their firms can now make their own MRI and don't need ours.
They did the same with EV - now instead of importing cars, they export cars.
Their cars are cheaper because all of the capital spending was state-funded, and their currency is deliberately weakened.
If you think this is "free trade" just like you buying Romaine lettuce from the grocery store, you're dead wrong, and a fool.
Free trade is a great idea, but it can also be dangerous if you make assumptions that turn out to be wrong.
Please note that nothing I wrote says Trump's tariffs are a great idea, will work, will cause no pain, will cause America to re-industrialize. China is much better at state spending than we are. They actually finish HSR lines.
But you better not believe fairy tales about trade theory.
There actually is pro-free trade case to make with China.
You're not going to like this. It involves America leaving the global stage. We just allow China to take over that mantle and we take their subsidies, but we also allow our own manufacturing to wither. We stop spending on the army. We spend much less on air force and navy. We become NEUTRAL. We don't mind what happens to Taiwan. We stop worrying about Israel and Ukraine.
Because the main problem we have with China isn't them subsidizing stuff, its that we need an industrial base for war. And if you remove that need, then China isn't a threat.
We can only build ONE submarine per year now. Australia ones one of our subs. We cannot build TWO per year. Think really hard about that. That's a fact. We quite possibly are already at the "maybe we will lose stage" of a war with China. We can't stop the Houthis, for example.
So, before you demand more and more free trade with China, understand what else you are going to be doing to keep that going.
Australia wants one sub. We can't build it.
When you have the most open and accessible administration in history, why would you need this waste of time? He answers questions everyday, unscripted, uncensored, unedited, and refreshingly, in full English sentences that answer the question asked.
because there are some stupid people, that watch this to pretend to be informed, they would never watch bartiromo for instance,
For all we know, Trump may have said some outrageous or incomprehensible things, but they probably edited him to make him seem more normal. Isn't that what they do now?
Tarrifs under Obama. Tarrifs under Biden. Tarrifs around the world. Labor and environmental (i.e regulatory) arbitrage, too. Why the cacophony, now?
Full employment for Americans, mitigating progressive prices (and principles), securing our future, and weening Americans off the kleptocratic teet.
no thats not how it works, it's just a turrble outfit
"Watch the whole thing."
Thanks, but no. I already know the MSM's position on Donald Trump. And editing interviews.
Welker has eyes that burn bright enough to qualify as “Manson Lamps”. She’d come across somewhat better if she could dial back on the crazy.

There is a huge gap between those two statements.
Yawn. Another MSM apparatchik who will cheer if Trump is murdered, probably cheered when he went to jail, and no doubt spent the better part of a decade pushing Russia hoax, covid hoax etcc.
Like the leftists on this blog, the MSM wanted non vax in camps, Musk bankrupt and expelled, and Trump and his family dead.
why the hell does anyone watch that crap?? Hello!! it's pure propaganda, put out by Marxists who hate us.
It's a boomer thing. Most of my friends actually think the news is just that- they parrot talking points given to them by their masters. it's very sad to watch them try to think on their own..
"It's a boomer thing."
No, it's not a boomer thing. I'm a boomer and I'm here to tell you- not all boomers think the same way.
What it is- is it's a leftard thing.
Welker embodies many of the attributes we have come to despise in the legacy media. She is smug and hyper partisan while pretending to be “balanced.” One of her many problems is that she is not smart enough to get away with it.
Taft, the 27th president of the Unites States was Trump's inspiration for the Tariffs?
All those TAGS are making me thirsty.
All your TAGS are belong to Trump.
Mason G
yeah it is. I'm a boomer as well. but watch the videos of many of the most recent protests-almost all boomers. they are the last group that is a reliable base for the MSM, and Maddow et al. I said many of my friends in my post, sadly they have excommunicated me for voting for Trump 3 times.
Again, sometimes my mind is elsewhere, like on yard work, and then I refocus and come roaring back to a “reality” where the Republicans are in thrall to a complete idiot with a totally incoherent policy.
This perp has this written down 2x for the records..The President's oath to the Constitution, as prescribed in Article II, Section 1, Clause 8 of the Constitution, states: "I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States". trump says in interview,,
'I dont know if I have to follow Constitution" Perfect statement for a convicted criminal. This is the idol of the trumpers, yeah baby thats our boy!!! I guess they will argue"to the best of his ability" this is the guy thinks Declaration of Independence says its about UNITY ,LOVE AND RESPECT....Are you smarter than a 5th grader?? WTF
“Per the Daily Caller website, millions of people are unemployed in China and there are riots. Workers not being paid. Goldman Sachs says up to 16 million Chinese may become unemployed because of the tariffs”.
This is what is really behind the tariffs. China has an export economy. If it were free, they would be quickly moving towards a consumer economy, as Japan and S. Korea did. They aren’t free. They are communists, esp at the top, which means top down state control. And Xi, and company, don’t want to go that route, likely because it would mean giving up a lot of power. So, they aren’t, right now, yet, willing to allow that change. We are their biggest trading partner, and the tariffs make their products unattractive to us. While we can go elsewhere for substitute products (e.g. Apple is moving production from China to India, Vietnam, and back home). Slashing our imports from China isn’t going to hurt us that much, but is already destroying the Chinese economy. And they are already facing violent protests as a result, and the tariffs haven’t fully kicked in. What’s going to happen with tens of millions more layoffs and nonpayment of salaries for work already accomplished?
Why China? Because they are our major geopolitical opponent in the world right now. They know it. Trump knows it. The only people who don’t admit it are either TDS addled and/or have been bribed. And the ChiComs have been spending tens of $billions$ every year doing just that - bribing anyone in power in this country who will take their money - esp 2 of the last 3 Dem Presidents. For millennia, that’s how they have done business. For the last decade or so, they have become increasingly belligerent in regards to their neighbors, stealing their off shore minerals and oil, etc. And they keep increasing their threat against Taiwan to conquer them militarily. And their military buildup will be much more problematic absent the maybe $trillion$ trade deficit with the US, with our tariffs. And esp if they keep trying to pay for such through massive layoffs and failure to pay back pay.
The oath required for other office holders, federal and state is:
“The Senators and Representatives before mentioned, and the Members of the several State Legislatures, and all executive and judicial Officers, both of the United States and of the several States, shall be bound by Oath or Affirmation, to support this Constitution; but no religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States.”
On the other hand, the President’s oath is different:
"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States"
Why the difference? One reason is that he is required to “ preserve, protect and defend” the Constitution, and that has been taken to including defending the Article II powers of the Presidency against encroachment by the other two branches. And that is where we are today - the Judiciary, or at least some rogue judges in it, trying to encroach into his plenary Article II powers. His duty to “preserve, protect and defend” the Constitution suggests that he may be required to ignore, or even rebuff, other branch’s attempts to encroach into his Article II Powers. Other office holders merely have to defend the Constitution, but they aren’t obligated to “preserve, protect and defend” the Article II powers of the Presidency, as he is.
I googled to see her interview of Joe Biden. So far nada. The best I could do was her "moderator" opinion about Biden's future after the Debate meltdown. But I'm told the media is the only thing between a free America and despotism. I despise her constant "gotcha" bullshit framed questions that she would never subject a Democrat to. I wish they would realize how their intentional bias is not a feature.
Notice something. The interviewer sought to get Trump to admit that he was violating the Supreme Court’s order in regards to Garcia. Twice, I think, he demurred, saying something to the effect that his people are saying something different. And I agree. The original order required the DHS to facilitate and effectuate the return of Abrego Garcia. The Supreme Court importantly cut that back to merely “facilitating” his return. And secondly they essentially required that the district court not interfere with the President’s Article II power to conduct foreign policy - which was exactly what the district judge was requiring with its use of the word “effectuate”. Abrego Garcia was deported to his home country. He is their sovereign citizen. We have no treaty rights to force that country to deport him back to a foreign country, the US. That leaves having Trump or Rubio somehow bribe or twist the arm of the President of El Salvador. And that involves foreign relations, a plenary power of the President under Article II.
That says to me that CJ Roberts doesn’t want that fight with the President, likely because he knows that he will lose. He will lose because all he has is the soft power of the reputation of the Judiciary, in the face of the Article II powers of the President, and the current President’s willingness to assert them. The President legally controls DHS, the military, thousands of armed agents, the federal prisons, etc? What does the Judiciary have? Soft power that they seized some 222 years ago to determine what the Constitution means, but rarely pushed against a President actively asserting his core Article II powers (notably, the “winners” in that case still didn’t get the offices that they were seeking). And that is be cause Supreme Court justices, and Chief Justices in particular, must always be aware of the consequences of the President just saying “No”. What happens then to the 222 years of judicial power they have so carefully nourished?
Which says to me, that Trump will eventually win most of these Separation of Powers disputes. He has the Bully Pulpit, what many see as an election mandate, and is a world class negotiator.
BTW - piece of trivia. Melania apparently read Trump’s book “Art of the Deal” before accepting his offer of a date, and made him ask several times. Also, she got his number(s), instead of offering hers.

Roberts wants to fight with the President. He is a traitor and will do anything he can to subvert the Constitution and stop Trump from saving the country. He has been a traitor from the start.
I hope the Supreme Court tries to usurp Article 2 like the District courts have.
Marbury vs. Madison was the biggest mistake and unconstitutional seizure of power in our history. It is time for the courts to be put down.
Had a few beers with some friends last night. Current leftist copium is that Trump is just as addled as Biden was. Think MSNBC is a great source for "news." The lawyer in the bunch pontificated briefly on "due process." Apparently Hungary is not a real democracy, and Ukraine almost wasn't, until 2014 I assume. So, same old same old.
"What do you say to people who say....?"
I don't really like that question at all. I hope he said something like "Well, everyone has an opinion, especially Democrats who are insulated from reality by the Press"
I'm trying to listen this morning to this interview and it is difficult. She sounds like she's shouting at me.
Kristen Weller likes to propose straw man arguments...
