Germany took the lead today in showing us what Europeans consider to be democracy: Banning the political party that is leading in the polls by declaring it "extremist".
In Romania, the same thing happened last month by judicial fiat.
I fully expect the heap of shit Two-Tier Keir Starmer to follow suit with the Reform Party and its leader Nigel Farage.
We can't consider tyrannical leftist scum like this to be our allies. They are our enemies, and we should be fomenting nationalist revolutions in their countries to get rid of them permanently.
I will be interested to see how Carney deals with the separatist movement in the western provinces of Canada. He really can't allow any of them, or especially all four of them to secede.
@FullMoon, I think I knew before I even started reading, the reason for the article, so I wondered how far down I'd have to go before getting to 'JD Vance' and 'Republicans'. I wasn't disappointed.
NY Mag has a hit piece out on John Fettermam. Lots of quotes from anonymous staffers, only his former chief of staff is identified, saying he's mentally compromised. Also, interestingly enough, his wife is quoted as agreeing with them.
I hear they're coming out with a new reality show. It's for people who are intrigued by the premise of 'Naked and Afraid', but find it too intense. The new show tones it down a bit. It's called 'Down To My Undies and Concerned'.
I guess my 100 days comment wasn't witty or original so it got tossed. I must admit, it did pinch being silenced, especially after having been a reader of this blog for over 10 years.
"For Rich and the Kakistophage… I’m in Costco right now and eggs are down to $2.91 per dozen" .The Dow Jones is UP 7% from a year ago today. Not bad for the "greatest stock market collapse of all time!" Pssst, don't tell the resident trolls.
When you have been appointed to "the highest court in the land" for no better reason than because your skin is dark and you are thought to possess a twat, it is perhaps ill-advised to hold forth on how one of the elected branches is "undermining our constitution and the rule of law". Especially if you aren't a biologist.
"I guess my 100 days comment wasn't witty or original so it got tossed."
There is a "spam filter" that sometimes tosses comments, they show up later, generally. You will never convince me that the "spam filter" doesn't do viewpoint censorship, not based on Althouse's preference, but based on those of the people who think that their job at Google entitles them to limit speech on the platforms that their bosses own.
Well it almost happened again. A US Army Blackhawk helicopter headed for the Pentagon apparently deviated from its approved flight path, forcing ATC at Reagan National Airport to order two passenger jets on final approach to execute go-arounds. One of the passenger is claimed to have come within 4/10 of a mile horizontal separation and 200 feet vertical.
I lived in the Washington metropolitan area for almost fifty years, and I can't tell you how many times I flew into or out of that airport. Scary to think that I was taking my life into my hands doing so.
Last May, Adam Jentleson, John Fetterman's former chief of staff, wrote a 1600-word email to David Williamson, the medical director of the traumatic-brain-injury and neuropsychiatry unit at Walter Reed, who had overseen Fetterman’s care at the hospital. “I think John is on a bad trajectory and I’m worried about him,” the email began. If things didn’t change, Jentleson continued, he was concerned Fetterman “won’t be with us for much longer.”
The email listed concerns, from the seemingly mundane (“He eats fast food multiple times a day”) to the scary (“We do not know if he is taking his meds, and his behavior frequently suggests he is not”). “We often see the kind of warning signs we discussed,” Jentleson wrote. “Conspiratorial thinking; megalomania (for example, he claims to be the most knowledgeable source on Israel and Gaza around but his sources are just what he reads in the news — he declines most briefings and never reads memos); high highs and low lows; long, rambling, repetitive and self-centered monologues; lying in ways that are painfully, awkwardly obvious to everyone in the room.”
So, according to New York Magazine, Democrats are always abnormal when they act abnormal, but when Donald Trump displays these very same abnormalities daily, not a single one of these concerns is massive enough to make it into their liberal webpage.
Starmer sure got his ass handed to him the local elections, Labor and the Conservatives combined couldn't get above 50%. Both parties are balls to the wall (for those not familiar, an expression that comes from putting the throttles for all of the engines all the way forward on a bomber, where the throttle levers have balls on the top of them, like an old stick shift) I only describe it because that is a better analogy than the one people might think of for the blind war mongering that Starmer has been doing regarding Ukraine.
The people of Europe don't want it, so they simply keep throwing the opposition in jail based on fiat, because democracy must not be allowed to work!
Democracy is dead now in most of Western Europe. Where they don't outlaw the opposition, they outlaw the public expression of points of view that go against the official line of the ruling parties, most of which, five years ago, would not have been allowed to form the government, based on not getting the highest vote count in the election. They changed all of the rules because it is that important to Western Europe who rules over Russian speakers in Ukraine, Russian speakers living in regions that have been Russian for centuries, and Russian speakers whom Kiev now considered traitors to Ukraine, and who, if Kiev regains control over them, will face trials before Ukrainian judges, trials done in Ukrainian, not Russian, based on laws written in Ukrainian.
We saw what happened during the fall of Rome, when Goth judges took over for Roman ones, and suddenly, it was identity, not the law, that mattered, and Goth judges ruled for the Goth, and against the Roman in disputes. This is what would happen in Crimea, for example, and ethnic cleansing and the erasure of Russian culture will be the likely result. Why is it worth shitcanning democracy for this dubious goal?

Big Mike: "I lived in the Washington metropolitan area for almost fifty years, and I can't tell you how many times I flew into or out of that airport. Scary to think that I was taking my life into my hands doing so."
I live very close to DCA. Convenient AF to take a 2-dollar, 20-minute Metro ride when I fly, but when I go outside, it looks like all the landing planes are headed straight for me. Let alone deliberate terrorism, what if a pilot has an unpredicted seizure or just a really bad sneezing fit? A couple degrees wrong on the stick and that plane is hitting the Lincoln Memorial, or worse, my building.
The concept of mid-city airports has always seemed to me to be a long-term gamble on low probability, high loss. At least with a suburban/exurban airport, if you crash, the density of potential victims is much lower.
Yeah, this country for better or worse no longer cares about draft dodging. The last President to be an individual combatant was George HW Bush. Once the Boomers took over, even though a huge chunk of them are veterans and veteran families, they had lost respect for the WWII veterans and lifers who lorded over them. Even the actual VN vets seem to have the attitude "man, I wish I had figured out how to do that" toward draft dodgers.
Lefty vets will vote for someone with no combat experience as long as his programs benefit vets. MAGA, especially given its low average age, has a huge proportion of veterans and vet-adjacents, yet loves Trump, for similar reasons. Plus Trump has heard the crack-and-thump and now has a gunshot wound. If Bob Hope can be an honorary veteran, I think Trump can.
Finally, June 14, 1775, is the founding date of the US Army. People criticizing the Army 250 parade either don't know this or don't care. Both of which make me question their indignity at draft-dodging Trump.
I prefer the draft dodger president who tries to keep us out of wars to the last guy, who was also a draft dodger, by the same standard, yet poured gasoline on every conflict he could.
Trump nixed a joint US - Israeli raid on Iran and opted for negotiations, when mysteriously a huge port explosion happens in Iran, which was of course an accident, just like the huge port explosion that happened in Syria.
