By the way, I'm seeing reports that Tapper's book — despite the onslaught of publicity — isn't doing very well. I know I won't buy it. Saw a man drive the wrong way into our local post office this week. Clearly marked "entrance" and "exit"... waited to see him exit the car. Sure enough-- big man, Hispanic. I'm reading "Original Sin" and I strongly recommend reading it. Because I follow political news closely, and also read all the excerpts from and hot takes about the book, I didn't expect to learn anything from it. One thing I learned is that people in the Democratic coalition to a man sincerely and deeply believed that Joe Biden was a great president. Because they believed this, they would have naturally felt that somewhere in there (in Joe Biden's head, in the people he appointed in the White House) some truly next-level leadership clearly must have been happening because as far as they were concerned, what they were getting was presidential leadership of a very high caliber. Republicans looking at the POTUS behaving in a way that clearly said "dementia, for sure" also thought that the entire administration and what it was doing was manifestly feeble and wrong. But Democrats didn't see it that way. So when Democrats saw the same videos and episodes that if you are Republican said "dementia", Democrats also thought, "but he's doing a great job; he can't totally have dementia which admittedly is what this video sorta looks like" because as far as governance and leadership goes, the guy is knocking it out of the park. If that's what you thought about the Biden administration, you, too, would have interpreted the apparent evidence of your eyes differently.

One of the way people imagine that they can know the truth of something is the cognitive ease with which they can think the thought. A good way to create "cognitive ease" is repetition, just like it's the only way to learn scales on the piano so they are automatic. Repetition creates automatic thoughts in the same way, so if you tell them that enough, it requires too much work for them to look under the rock, especially if they subconsciously sense a risk to a world view in which they are one of the good guys, better than all of those MAGAts, for example.

If I were to read a book published by the Politburo, I might come away with the notion that there were supporters of Stalin that believed him to be a great humanitarian. Naturally, I would be skeptical. The test of this would be, 'what recognized achievements of Stalin underpin their belief that he's a great humanitarian - and what facts dispute it?

Even at the time, I thought Biden and his gang were despicable and expendable. It was astonishing that they tried to get him re-elected. So of course they needed lawfare (and attempted assassination) to get across the finish line. And they failed.
Many people would be alive if Biden had died on stage in 2020, but this is an acceptable outcome. Lots of Democrat NPCs are being chucked into the streets to starve, and more are on the way.
Reagan was a great men - for his time. Namely, the cold war. Once that ended his job was finished and so was Reaganism. I'll never forgive Reagan for betraying social conservatives by picking O'Connor instead of Bork, and by refusing to fight for a bill banning abortion and Busing.
And then was his insane "Amnesty Bill" which led us to the path we're on now. I'm sorry to point out that Reagan, as he often stated, was a Wilsonian. A world saver - and a supporter of massive immigration. In 2008, he'd have been cheering on John McCain. "Invade the world, invite the world".

The "Tea party" were your typical pragmatic "Business" Republicans who woke up in 2008 and found themselves in financial disaster. So for a couple years they got all worked up, and wanted "Fiscal Responsibility" and "Lower Taxes" and "NO more handouts to big business". But of course, once the economy started growing again, all the air went out of the balloon.
The RINOs and the D's hated the "tea party". but the "Tea Party" could'nt get past its obsession with money. And you'll never get 51 percent of the USA public votes by talking about money.

As for Ronald Reagan, he was never in any way, shape, or form a McCain Republican or a Wilsonian.
Reagan called America a “shining city upon a hill”. He believed in an America which led by example rather than by waging war. The prime example of this was his defeat (along with Maggie Thatcher and Pope John Paul) of the Soviet Union without firing a shot - slight exaggeration because of course there were armed conflicts around the world but no nuclear confrontation between the US and the USSR.
Since we won the Cold War and WW2, it’s tempting to think these wins were inevitable. They were not.

Back in 2000 I was just completing several years of watching my MIL decline with vascular dementia and die. I watched Biden give his short speeches from his basement and realized he exhibited several symptoms of dementia at that time, putting him somewhere around stage 2 or 3 of the 7 stage dementia classifications which end in death. By the time he was elected and made more public appearances it became apparent he was worse off than that, and over the years of his administration he continued to exhibit advancing mental incapacity. He will be dead next year if not this year. We all saw it. We all knew it. We all called it out, for five long years since 2020. But he is still out there exhibiting his decline. May God have mercy on the souls of his wife and handlers, for they deserve none from us for their mistreatment of this old man.

It was a truly center right grass roots mass movement. The establishment right tried to high jack the movement for their own purposes and played into the lefts hands. But the movement never went away. When you moan about the MAGA people, those are TEA party people.

As for Reagan not being a wilsonian, he was in foreign policy. He sent troops to Lebanon (241 were killed). He attacked Libya. He was a strong supporter of aid to Israel and was very anti-Iran. He wasn't just an anti-communist, he believed in the USA working activily to spread Democracy. I wonder what he would've made of Bush's crazy 2004 inaugural address?
As for immigration, in his last address he said this:

Joe Biden has a very unusual forehead. The upper and central portions are smooth and motionless. The lateral aspects have peculiar, deep furrows when he changes facial expression. You didn't notice it so much when he wore aviator sunglasses. Which of course is why he did so.

As I told our youngest, only fight when you have to. Then fight! Never assume you can whip anyone. The toughest, brawlingest guy I ever met was 5'4" and had studies martial arts for years. You'd never guess by looking and he LOVED fighting.

Trump's base is the TEA Party. The new Republican Party is what formed out of the Romneycare backlash to the folly of the Republican primary in 2012. This was building since Perot in 92.
It is just a little louder and absorbed a larger swath of the working class voters as time went on.

He was for legal and not illegal immigration. His foreign policy has to be seen in the larger context of the Cold War.

What does that even mean? You can always say money is the driving force behind people’s actions.
But the motivation behind support for Reagan, Perot, the tea party movement and Trump is the desire for more control over our lives and ceding less power to our government to control us. One of the ways the government controls us is by taking more and more of our hard earned money so that we have less options in choosing what to do with our lives. So you could say everything is always about money.

Trump just posted that Joe Biden was executed in 2020 and replaced with clones. While not true, this statement may be a metaphor for the delusional dementia that Biden experienced in office.
Is there any evidence at all that Biden can throw a punch ? I'm talking any evidence he has ever done boxing or similar, hell I'd even settle for evidence of a school yard punch up.
Quite frankly he's the obnoxious big talking braggard who would turn tail at the first sign the fight is actually going to get physical. He is a repulsive human being by any objective standard.
