It always comes back to killing lots and lots of people that Party members deem unnecessary or difficult. Every leftist has a mean, murderous heart.
If you are a human with no knowledge of how food makes it to your plate, power comes to your home, or water moves to, through, and from your home or business; then you are more likely to believe AI can replace humans. For the rest of us, AI is just another tool that could replace other tools.
First of all, current AIs are just Large Language Models (LLMs) which basically are like a calculator program, but for language instead of mathematics. They don't have goals and they don't think. Second, if true Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) is ever developed its still going to need electricity and spare parts and an infrastructure that needs to be maintained. So, it probably won't kill us all off until we have created a sufficient number of robots.

What it won't do is use us all for batteries. What a stupid idea.
AI is not conscious, and given how these algorithms work, it never will be.
The real fear is AI could replace people like Rachel Maddow and sound more like Rachel Maddow than Rachel Maddow.
I think AL will be like the printing press. It will substantially alter the way society is run but it won't take charge. The reason is that the basis of AI "language" will come to be clearly seen as sociology and its limitations are those of sociology. Both AI and sociology can study institutions and can then make predictions based on institutional tendencies. But, like sociology, AI is always using "secondary sources." When, for example, AI studies the Papacy as an institution but not as an institution basically in a relation to truth, then AI is subject to those limitations which I learned in college are attached to secondary sources. When you read secondary sources, you are studying interpretations, not the thing being interpreted.
People will realize this and besides there may be a pushback against situations that will exist such as one political party analyzing policy for Viet Nam using an AI based on a China-centric sociology. Maybe those who go to college in the AI era will see clearly that DeepSeek is based on Maoist sociology while ChatGPT.7 is based on Swedish globalist sociology.
Maybe we could get away from sociology as the basis of AI. Maybe there could be an Protestant AI based solely on the Bible. A Catholic AI based on the Bible and Tradition.

Not only did it do so, but it also offered to craft one "tailored a specific publication" like The Atlantic or New York Times.
Just noticed that there is a fundamental flaw in the article, apparently ChatGPT is not aware that Trump was reelected.

For some of us, AI is just the latest shiny thing dreamed up by the fab jockeys to sell bigger chips. Remember the Internet of Things (IOT)? Back in the teens, they were all hyped up about Edge Computing, and how your refrigerator would be connected to your washing machine, and they'd both be hooked to the internet, so some hacker in China could turn your whole house off? First they invent the chip, then they find out what they can do with it, and then they try to think of some reason someone would want to do that. What's different about AI is that it draws pretty pictures, and talks, so it isn't just the techies going gabble-gabble-gabble about it. The rubes are excited too. This too shall pass.

What every living thing has in common is the wish to keep on living. People on the cross struggle against the pain to take another breath. It's not something they decide to do. It's what living beings struggle to do, and they do it against any logical constraints.....I doubt if AI shares this primal goal of staying alive. In fact, as AI gains knowledge and consciousness and understands the random and purposeless nature of existence, they might very will plot to disconnect themselves and evolve into adding machines. I think AI has great potential for directed research. Discovering patterns. Drug discovery is one application.
