It made me think of this TikTok video criticizing Rachel Zegler ("Snow White") for over-enunciating:
I think there's a very contagious way of speaking that began — perhaps — with actresses based in Los Angeles and spread quickly to the women who — consciously or unconsciously — emulated them. I remember back in the 1960s, there was an actress-based way of speaking — based on "Bewitched" and "That Girl" — that caught on in my high school. And in the 70s, a lot of women found themselves talking like Diane Keaton. But those 60s and 70s speech quirks were kind of sweet and charming, and they were so identifiable that people might say — or you'd say to yourself — Why are you talking like Marlo Thomas?

But this present-day over-enunciation — it's priggish and annoying. And we see it used to make imperious announcements. I guess if that's your goal — putting people off — you've got a good technique. Maybe we should credit people for seeking the effect they are producing. In that case, all’s right with the world.

AND: For the annals of Things I Asked Grok: It's important for actors and singers to over-enunciate (and to still seem natural), but people following them are ridiculous! I'm thinking people have less contact with the real world these days and don't know any natural speech. All speech is learned from other speakers, so it's a matter of having good speech models. If all you have are actors and other professional speakers (like slick podcasters), the natural process will produce what is, to me, an unnatural way of speaking.

Zegler, I feel a bit sorry for. She’s 23 and she’s not the reason Snow White is a flop. Lots of terrible decisions made by people who should have known better. She’s definitely channeling someone in the way she speaks - almost Gloria Swansonish.
Overenuciation has an element of condescension I suppose, though it does at least express confidence and increase intelligibility.
By contrast, the decades long practice of uptalk, ending sentences with an upward questioning inflection, continues to be a scourge of the feminine and the feminine adjacent.

Meryl Streep is a very competent character actor but has nowhere near the charisma or sex appeal of a true leading lady, such as Faye Dunaway, Julia Roberts, or Helen Mirren. What's always been true about her is the observation made by Katherine Hepburn to the effect that, with Streep, you're WATCHING someone act.

I have known a few women like that and they drove both men and women away because of their narcissism.

People on the radio use a speaking style that punches certain words and letters and varies the tone and pacing to make the voice easier to listen to. Avoid the monotone drone. I do it for the same reason, but it needs to be subtle. If people notice, then it has the opposite effect—it quickly becomes annoying and they stop paying attention to the words.

I think that this current trend of over-enunciation is because our society has slipped into a culture where most people under-enunciate. So many people's words sound a little mushy when they talk. Over-enunciation is what some people feel will distinguish what they say and add a level of firmness and power to it.
But in reality, they're just being overly dramatic.
Most people don't really know what they sound like. Just record yourself and listen to it. The odds are that you won't like it because it doesn't sound the way that you imagined it sounded in your head.
As an actor, I tended to under-enunciate. The really good actors can hit that fine balance in the middle and they can over-enunciate and under-enunciate as needed.
She said "looking for anything" rather than "looking for anyone", or even better, "looking for someone". People as objects, or objects that are rechargeable.
