Writes President Trump, on Truth Social.
"We both believe very strongly in [common sense]. We agreed to work together, very closely, including visiting each other’s Nations. We have also agreed to have our respective teams start negotiations immediately, and we will begin by calling President Zelenskyy, of Ukraine, to inform him of the conversation, something which I will be doing right now. I have asked Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Director of the CIA John Ratcliffe, National Security Advisor Michael Waltz, and Ambassador and Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, to lead the negotiations which, I feel strongly, will be successful. Millions of people have died in a War that would not have happened if I were President, but it did happen, so it must end. No more lives should be lost! I want to thank President Putin for his time and effort with respect to this call, and for the release, yesterday, of Marc Fogel, a wonderful man that I personally greeted last night at the White House. I believe this effort will lead to a successful conclusion, hopefully soon!"

US military-industrial complex hardest hit.
I want to see the Dems argue against peace talks initiated by Trump. Probably along the tired old line of: Trump is Putin's puppet.
Trump negotiated about 10 hostigaes released and returned.
(from various places)
Nothing in the Soviet-Democrat press on that.
Tulsi - confirmed.
suck it, soviets.
Treason! Trump is brazenly talking to Putin, appeasing our Biggest Enemy. Notify Journolist we have our talking point for next week.
So far, just talk. We'd like action, and hope that Trump can close the deal.
Maybe they can find a judgeto issue a restraining order on any cease fire or peace talks.
I will never get used to Trump's capitalization of random words, but by God I am glad it's his hand on the tiller after the past four years of being governed by 26 year old antifa kooks.
Not everyone is on board the Peace Train.
Millions of deaths? Casualties, yes, but deaths?
Left Bank of the Charles: "Millions of deaths? Casualties, yes, but deaths?"
Your disappointment is duly noted.
On the potential death exaggeration: "forget it, he's rolling" said Boone about the future President Blutarsky.
Trump solved Gaza, Greenland and Canada so he is free.
In summary, decision has been made: one big golf course and a Trump Resort on the Black Sea.
It's really only a few hundred thousand deaths. No big deal. Carry on with your war, Gentlemen.
Was Vindman on the line - listening in?
Well if the Bad Orange Man manages to bring the Ukraine war to an end, will he get a Nobel Prize? Nope--but maybe Obama can give him his unearned Nobel Prize.
Lucky ukraine. Two great big tough guys, trump and putin, have their balls in a vice.
With the Russia Ukraine war under Biden - knowing Biden and the corrupt D's use Ukraine for money laundering for personal profits... it makes us wonder.
Bob Boyd @ 1207 for the early win.
If this can't be settled in an afternoon between the US, Putin, and Zelensky, at least one person in the room is not working in good faith. So give it an afternoon, then give Zelensky the ability to send conventional warhead missiles to Moscow. That should end it.
I appeal to our gracious hostess to BAN mention of the names "Vindman" and "Strzok". Pretty please? My hypertension is already bad enough.
In his public remarks the President neglected to mention that he showed Putin some nice fresh satellite photos of Putin's various residences.
Sounds like they are haggling on the price. WW3 averted?
@Fred Drinkwater: Now get her media sources to not censor the magic all-seeing ghost name "Ciaramella."
Democrat judge issues temporarily injunction against further discussions with Russia or Ukraine without prior court approval of any position to be taken by the United States government. Alexander Vindman is appointed special master. Court cites Constitutional crisis.
”Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God”
And Trump will have to settle for that because no matter how many wars he ends or averts there is no way the Norwegian elites are going to vote him a Peace Prize after he turned off the USAID spigot on their refugee scam.
so..
how do they NOT give Trump a Nobel Peace Prize?
Do they just pretend?
Or, do they say: "those AREN'T for Repubicans" ???
It took Trump 90 minutes to give Putin everything he asked for?
The art of the surrender.
It’s not quite peace when the aggressor is rewarded with another’s land. Trump resumes process of extorting Ukraine's president that he started in 2019.
When asked by a reporter what he gave up for the release of Marc Fogel, Trump said "not much"
Ukrainians might have a different point of view
Game hasn't started and already an own goal.
Millions of deaths? Casualties, yes, but deaths?
That's what you're quibbling over?
It’s not quite peace when the aggressor is rewarded with another’s land.
Like everything else in today's world, if you only listen to the mainstream media, you miss much of the story.
The eastern parts of Ukraine were part of Russia within living memory, but reassigned to Ukraine under Stalin for domestic political considerations. The people there speak Russian, not Ukrainian, and want the same self-determination that all distinct ethnic groups are entitled to under international law. After the color coup of 2014 engineered by (Ukrainian mole and Soros tentacle) Victoria Nuland, the Russian-speakers who stood up for their minority rights were rewarded by being shelled by Ukrainian artillery, subsidized by guess who: as usual, you and me.
I think Putin could have had more long term success by refraining from the invasion, and the resultant suffering on both sides has been absolutely deplorable, but this situation did not arise de novo from Putin's dreams of empire. Imagine if Alberta decided it wanted to join the US, and Quebec sent military forces to shell Calgary; would we stand idle?
Now the killing must stop. No one benefits from further warfare but the arms merchants and the usual globalist meddlers based in the Beltway and New York and London. I support a negotiated peace and a plebiscite to decide what happens to Crimea, Donetsk, Luhansk, and the other Russian oblasts.
"I think Putin could have had more long term success by refraining from the invasion."
If Putin had allowed NATO to waltz into Kiev and take over what would have become NATO's largest member army, he would have been deposed in short order. Remember that the Soviets gifted Ukraine with a huge conventional army when they created it, expecting from long experience, Napoleon and Hitler to name two, that the next invasion from Western Europe would come through Ukraine.
"It took Trump 90 minutes to give Putin everything he asked for?"
He ran on making peace with Putin. Nobody ever ran on a platform of these endless wars. This war was provoked by an unelected cabal of nameless figures who wielded extreme unelected and unaccountable power.
"then give Zelensky the ability to send conventional warhead missiles to Moscow. That should end it."
End what? Any missiles that the US provides to Ukraine with that capability will be seen by the Russians as an American attack on Moscow, which it would be, and which would precipitate WW3, which will be a lot shorter than WWI or WWII; some estimate that such a war will be over in 70 minutes or so.
"Lucky ukraine. Two great big tough guys, trump and putin, have their balls in a vice."
Ukraine put its own balls in the vice.
@Bob B at 2:05.
Exactly.
Wait a minute, Joe Biden ran on his record of starting this war, he was extremely proud of it, of not negotiating with Putin to avert it, and of killing a peace plan that Zelensky had initialed which would have left Ukraine intact, and Biden was chased from the race, his VP ran on his record, and lost. Trump ran on ending this war. So I would say that this is the choice that America made, in a fair election.
Where are all the Putin haters? The hysterical "Putin is trying to conquer the world!!11" types? The "Y'know you can't deal with Putin - he's JUST LIKE HITLER."
Even Nikki Haley and Miss Lindsey have calmed down. Curious.
Anyway, I was listening to some NPR/BBC Type talk about it, and he said Russia knows it can't take Kiev or the Ukraine Black coast so, Putin's gonna make a deal. Hello? It was Ukraine/USA/NATO that refused a deal in April 2022. And until now, they also refused to recognize Russia control of the Donbass. They even demanded Putin withdraw from Crimea!
I guess that was just hot air. Trump has rightly said Ukraine shouldn't be part of Nato and will have to recognize reality - ie. give up Crimea and the Donbass.
Hopefully, this will end a bloody useless war, and stop the Globalist warmongers in their tracks.
There are two geographies at play in any long-term settlement of Ukraine. Putin's strategy has always been to use Russian exports to the West to finance his expansionist designs towards the West. That is the linkage that the West must keep broken. It must be a strategic goal for the West or overall western unity will become illusory.
The first geography is the actual eastern border. What Trump and Hegseth are saying is not inconsistent with the reality of the situation. A cold barbed wire border similar to that in Korea seems likely. But these occupied territories can be hostage to any future trade relations with the West. If no trade moves across it, Russia is economically fenced in behind a barrier of its own making. It pays an ongoing cost for its aggression.
The second, and by far most important, is the economic border. Putin desperately wants to go to the status quo ex ante on trade and the removal of sanctions. If the West hangs together and maintains a non-trade frontier with Russia, then Putin has a much more difficult task in restocking his economy and its putative war economy.
"Putin's strategy has always been to use Russian exports to the West to finance his expansionist designs towards the West."
The only evidence for this is invidious readings of Putin's writings. Russia controls 1/6th of Earth's land mass, within its own borders. Why does it need to expand, it doesn't have a rapidly growing population, and if it did, it has plenty of room to absorb them.
No, invasions flow from high population, low resource areas, like, for example Europe, towards countries like Russia, which is chock full of oil, gas, gold, diamonds, platinum, wheat, lithium, nickel, etc, etc, etc. One sixth of the land surface of the globe. What could it gain from invading Europe?
The counterattack to the Nazi invasion of Russia led to Russian occupation of Eastern Europe in a misguided attempt to control the threat of invasion from Europe, which keeps happening. Russia just has too many resources, and like Africa before it, Europe wants to turn Russia into, as one analyst put it "Nigeria with snow."
At the same time analysts call Putin "paranoid" they talk about the most effective ways to collapse the Russian Federation. It's an amazing display of doublethink.
Europe is suffering far more from the sanctions than Russia is. Denmark just allowed Russia to begin efforts to salvage Nordstream in Danish waters. What does that tell you? LNG gas costs twice what pipeline gas costs. It makes German industry uncompetitive. Not just energy but feedstocks for their chemical industry. This misguided attempt to collapse Russia has backfired on Europe in a major way.
The whole project was stupid, and relied on us leading Ukraine down the primrose path, and sucking up to neonazis who sought to create the largest ethnically pure state in Europe, cleansing the country of ethnic Russians. Who sold them on this dream? The CIA.
Here is a book written by Jimmy Carter's National Security Advisor where he lays out a plan to ensure that Russia dominates the entire globe... oh wait, did I say "Russia"? I meant to say where he lays out a plan to ensure that the United States dominates the globe for another century. The plan includes several wars that have been fought by the US since it was written, and the use of Ukraine to eliminate Russia as a great power.

But sure, Putin is "paranoid" and the US only stumbles into these constant wars accidental like.
"It took Trump 90 minutes to give Putin everything he asked for?"
Putin isn't asking me for my tax money. The other guy is. Give Putin what he wants. Keep my children out of the meatgrinder.
Zelenskyy should not have helped Pelosi impeach Trump during Trump’s first term. He chose … poorly.
