I believe in tariffs because of market, currency and commodity manipulation by countries like China, not because of some misplaced environmental reciprocity. It seems like almost everyone is protectionist of their economies EXCEPT us, and not playing tit-for-tat in such an environment is a recipe for disaster.
China puts China first.
Russia puts Russia first.
Japan puts Japan first.
India puts India first.
Turkey puts Turkey first.
It's time for America to put America first.

Ike was MY first President (that is, when he was first elected in 1952, I was old enough (9) to be aware of the event.) And while I was growing up, he was OUR President. After he left office, I had the great privilege of seeing him close up when he came to Boston for a fund-raiser lunch Young Republicans got a free lunch if we agreed to provide "security" while the ex-Pres. walked into the hall, which meant that I was part of the line at his entrance; Ike passed me no more then 2 feet away.

You wouldn't think this would be a controversial position to take in the US.
Yet here we are, with half the country bitching about a once-and-soon-to-be-again-president who wants to do just that.
