The men of CNN charmingly circle the drain.

Anderson Cooper struggles to consume a shot:

And Diplo — who's somebody, but I don't need to know who — calmly asserts that he's on LSD:

How are men these days supposed to enact the meaning of New Year's Eve? It's traditionally about drinking a lot of alcohol, but they don't want to do that, so they put on a little show of finding it hard to drink just one shot, and then they talk to a guy who calmly and humorously says he's on LSD and he's "not even lying." This stuff has gone viral, so credit to CNN. Do what you must. It's not the news.

Meanwhile, CNN brings out a representative of the opposite sex: Whitney Cummings woodenly delivers some jokes that have — predictably — gone viral because they mock Democrats:

The entire network just seems so gay. It's not interesting television to the 98% of people who aren't trying to get into Anderson Cooper's pants.

This Diplo?

He's been dead nearly 70 years perfect fit for cnn

Diplo was a famous Puerto Rican comic from Naguabo

Which is yet another way to say that some people never grow up.

Remember when the crisis actors at CNN were aghast that Pete Hegseth was allegedly drinking at work?

At our house it’s about the wife and I putting a modest quantity of sparkling wine in a champagne flute and toasting each other.

Looks like CNN had a gay ol' time. Anderson Cooper could've been doing a "bit" but then if Cooper is your comedy relief, you're in trouble. To honest, those two are incredibly boring. Bring back crazy Kathy Griffith.

And if Cooper - seriously - had problems with the booze, I'd give him a pass based on age. We're going to have a champagne breakfast, because we couldn't finish the bottle last night. We both konked out. LOL.

A lot of these things seem to scream "Look how much FUN we're having!", but it's quite evident they aren't having any fun at all.

Rocco ayon kay ...

Drink alcohol, yes. Consuming massive amounts, no. That’s the excuse alcoholics use to get hammered.

mindnumbrobot ayon kay ...

Meh, it's CNN. Whadda expect?

FormerLawClerk ayon kay ...

CNN did a lengthy interview with a cross-dresser who won a drag show contest (I read ... I certainly didn't watch this trash) during their New Year's celebration. Then when the clock struck midnight, they cut to two drunk dudes making out.

It's just WILDLY and flamboyantly gay in a way that seems deliberately designed to push heterosexual viewers (98% of their potential audience) aside.

Warner Brothers need to get rid of the gay Mafia that have taken over their news station if they ever hope to grow their ratings beyond this very small niche of people.

Meanwhile, over at Instapundit I see people are slowly awakening to to a pair of Biden administration scandals that the newsmedia had been burying (unfortunately with some success). The first is FEMA’s abysmal response to Hurricane Helene out in Western North Carolina. Given her not-that-long-ago interest in tiny houses, you’d think Althouse might give a shout-out to Lowe’s for building 100 tiny houses (8’ x 16’, sleeps up to four) for people in for people who lost their homes — last September! — to the flooding caused by Helene. NASCAR used its haulers to get the tiny homes to where they are needed. That may not seem like much, but it is massive next to what FEMA has done in the intervening months. In typical Democrat fashion the agency makes big promises during press conferences, but actually delivers only a fraction of what they promised. The newsmedia report the promises, not the delivery.

And if you thought it was scandalous that Pete Buttigieg’s Department of Transportation was given $7.5 billion to build a half million EV charging stations and only eight have been built, wait until you check out the Biden administration’s broadband initiative. Back in 2021 Congress gave them $42 billion to bring the Internet to every home in the US of A. 1000 days later the number of home connected: ZERO. The person Joe Biden put in charge of this initiative? Kamala Harris. Perhaps she was too busy with her responsibilities as principal point person on the border.

The corrupt lying liar who lie democrat left (pro child abuse) deserve nothing BUT mocking and derision.

Gotagonow ayon kay ...

Why were you wasting your time watching that? You could have watched Seth Meyer re-runs of his day drinking segments.

Ragged masculinity.

Peachy ayon kay ...

It gets better:

"this is what I said at the end of my roast set on CNN tonight that I zoomed through because I was running out of time (and scared) : Since I only have a minute left and I’m live on an establishment media, I figured I’d list some of things mainstream media will never cover:

The first trump shooter didn’t have any silverware in his house,The Crown prince of Saudi Arabia put money into Disney, why is fluoride still in our water? Monsanto paid Google to skew search results, why are so many presidents chefs dead?"

Peachy ayon kay ...

The American media is so corrupt. So so so corrupt.
Imagine if someone tried to kill Joe or Kamala - we'd never hear the end of it.

Blackrock kid attempts to kill Trump - in an obvious soft location on a roof - (ends up killing an innocent bystander in the crowd) and the prepared response by the hack-D press is "the kid was a registered republican." (strange how so many "registered republicans" want to kill Trump) The golf course shooter – the liar Soviet-Democrat Media and their heinous loyal peons said the same thing. & It was a total lie. Again.

Meanwhile - the press doesn't delve into the FBI/CIA/ paid patsy kid on a roof - because they are told not to. Again - if some kid tried to kill a democrat - we would know everything about that person.

Big Mike ayon kay ...

And can we lay off the gay bashing, people? That would be a nice New Year's resolution for some of you upthread.

Peachy ayon kay ...

"Kamala was forced on us so hard you'd think she was patented by Pfitzer."

totally.

Mary Beth ayon kay ...

Charmingly? Not to my tastes, but some people love it.

Aggie ayon kay ...

I think most people would lay off the gay bashing if the networks stopped pretending to convince their remaining viewers that every man is gay, that every couple is bi-racial, and that the only normal people out there are fully woke and vote a certain way 100% of the time, and so forth, and so on.

You can't blame people when they criticize phonies.

A LOT of television "news" should promote Listerine as a body wash.

If I'm not mistaken, Diplo is CNN's diplomatic correspondent. When I knew him he was still going by the name Christiane Amanpour.

tcrosse ayon kay ...

Are gays above criticism?

Jamie ayon kay ...

I'd never successfully taken a shot until last Mother's Day, when the bartender at the restaurant where we were eating in Costa Rica, having been helpfully informed by my husband that it was American Mother's Day, sent one to our table. So. My first-ever shot, in 58 years of life, downed with great difficulty in front of my three kids, one of whom has been sober for almost four years but recalled his former ways and pushed my soda closer so I'd have a chaser I didn't hate.

Because I hate tequila. I never thought I'd take the first (and God, I hope the only) shot of my life out of politeness.

RideSpaceMountain ayon kay ...

Those aren't men. Those are over-the-hill homos.

RideSpaceMountain ayon kay ...

Since the lgbt community has caused a tremendous amount of cultural damage and gays inaugurated its insanity, my new years resolution is to not give 2 fucks about homos and their fruity feelings.

Big Mike ayon kay ...

@tcrosse, no, gays are not above criticism. A gay man who gets a job as a bookkeeper but who pitches vendor invoices into the trash (this really happened) can be criticized for taking a job he can’t be bothered to do — and fired for not doing it! — but criticizing a good, hardworking employee, just for being gay is not legitimate. Criticizing Anderson Cooper for being an assuole is legit. Criticizing him for being gay, why is that relevant?

And using “gay” as a pejorative is, as the Brits say, right out.

narciso ayon kay ...

cooper's an entitled brat, amanpour is on bbc

EdwdLny ayon kay ...

Well, for starters they could involve real men, not poor simulacrums of men. A shot of alcohol at midnight ,eh, so what. It is a particular night so.

Jamie. Nice comment. I've never liked tequila straight. Its only good as part of a Margarita. Its odd that Cohen is drinking tequlia. The man is a multi-millionaire. Cant he afford some martini's or expensive scotch?

MadisonMan ayon kay ...

It's pretty boring TV to watch people get drunk. Is it any wonder CNN ratings [s]tank?

RCOCEAN II ayon kay ...

Boring troll - I'll just say outraegous things until someone responds. Pathetic.

I guess it's a matter of opinion, but I didn't think Whitney's delivery was "wooden" at all. I don't know who she is, but I thought she was pretty good, in fact.

Lawnerd ayon kay ...

This. The notion of gay sex is revolting to me and gives an automatic gag response. I hate when gay sex is now just common place on most TV shows and movies. I have no issue with consenting adults doing what they want in private, but stop shoving it down our throats.

NKP ayon kay ...

Tequila is not 'all the same'. Some is Drano by a different name. Some mid-grade stuff is useful for shots. Some (Don Julio was my first choice) is worthy of being enjoyed neat. Anyone putting premium tequila in a Margarita is either 'silly' or a show-off. For the bar, it's a great way to pad your tab.

For the record, I was a Martini Man. I have pictures of every perfect one ever served to me. Cold glass/swirl a few drops of vermouth and toss/fill with good gin straight from the freezer (Tanqueray is not on the OK list). If you must have an olive, order a salad. Six and a half years ago, the Doc in the ER said my over/under number for staying on the green side of the grass was 90 days. I said, "Hold my beer" and never went back to get it. No plan, no program, just a decision.

cfs ayon kay ...

Tell me again about Pete Hegseth?

I can't believe that CNN puts on such a depraved New Year's Eve show and then tries to take the high moral ground when speaking of any GOP nominee or candidate.

Political Junkie ayon kay ...

CNN NYE hosted by 2 gay males. Natch.

Oh God, there must be a tequila gene. I love it. I can swish it around in my mouth. Therefore, I never drink it.

damikesc ayon kay ...

Dixcus, I was thinking that as well. Hegseth on TV drunk --- which he was not --- is ghastly. A guest on CNN being on LSD is fine.

Then again, they also platformed Richard Spencer not long ago.

Yinzer ayon kay ...

You think he commented ‘woodenly’, Ann? I thought she was brilliant and funny. But then it was not my ox being gored
