"Such a result seemed unthinkable until it happened. In the seven prior presidential elections, the margin of victory in New York generally exceeded that in Florida by more than 20 percentage points.... In the more than 35 years since Ronald Reagan left office in January 1989, no other presidential candidate of either party has won Florida by even half as much as Trump did in 2024.... The ribbon of interconnected states running through Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan, Wisconsin, and Iowa has held vital importance for American presidential elections for more than 150 years.... In presidential races spanning 1996 through 2012, Republican candidates won the respective contests in those five key states just 12 percent of the time (three wins, 22 losses). In the subsequent three elections, Trump won the battles in those states 80 percent of the time (12 wins, 3 losses). Trump’s success in Ohio and Iowa is particularly remarkable.... Trump also gained ground in uncompetitive states, such as New York, New Jersey, and West Virginia...."
Writes Jeffrey H. Anderson, in "How Trump Remade the Electoral Map/The president-elect has shaken up state-level results across his three campaigns" (City Journal).

All that competing with a woman who ran a "flawless" campaign. My, my.
May his term be so successful that the changes become bedrock reality. It might actually safe this great nation as a great nation.
Fun with Grok:

There is children's fairy-tale "The Emperor Has No Clothes", and then there was Biden, the "Big Guy", the corrupt old-school politician elected president even after his long history of mediocrity and personal financial irregularities involving expensive home purchases in excess of his legal income, visible physical aging, and obvious intellectual defects. His presidential term was probably the most defiantly governance disaster inflicted upon us Americans who weren't rabidly Blue-pilled Democrats. The permanent harm to our governance, our country's security, and our financial future is real. Even those who previously reliably voted for Democratic candidates for elected office began to realize this. Even black and brown working-class minority folks, a constituency Democratic Party leaders thought were a permanent obedient voting-block.
Watch Tucker Carlson's interview with Teamster president, who notes how feeble and arrogant both Biden and Harris were in their interactions with Teamster leadership during its candidate interview process. Bit mind-boggling, given how much Democratic Party elected officials at national level have hurt Teamster members, and yet thought their party-loyalty was unshakeable. Teamster leadership was confronted with Teamster rank-and-file strong support for Trump, and outright rejection of Biden/Harris.
Only MSM seems still perplexed by Nov 2024 election results. But MSM utterly failed all journalistic ethics during their past 16 years of political coverage, becoming a mouthpiece for an utterly-corrupted Democratic Party - thanks to Clintons, thanks to Obamas, thanks to Pelosi, Schumer, and RINOs.
Arizona - Donald Trump carried the state.
The test for the GOP will come in the next election- the first one without Trump at the top of the ticket. Can the GOP successfully transition those new Trump voters to permanent GOP voters? I have my doubts.
the desperate cheating by the corrupt left in 2020 still fresh in our minds.
The left can only win with idiots who watch MSNBC and lying and cheating.
It was “flawless” only if you didn’t understand the American electorate.
Me too.
The Republicans need to make like St Patrick and drive out the snakes.
Trump will need to keep his promises - and the GOP will need to support him to the hilt. That will help JD Vance become president in 4 years.
The left will do all they can to smear, lie, cheat, and lie.
There’s nothing remarkable about that. People are fleeing NY for FL, not the other way around.
"This Republican rout in what had long been a quintessential swing state was a result of Trump’s and Florida governor Ron DeSantis’s making a formidable, if somewhat unorthodox, team. Trump’s endorsement helped DeSantis get elected in 2018, and DeSantis’s ensuing popularity in office—a product of his blending governmental competence with a singular willingness to question establishment “experts” (particularly on Covid)—made the Sunshine State increasingly fertile ground for Trump. While the two “teammates” haven’t always gotten along, the electoral results in the nation’s third-largest state have been remarkable. In the more than 35 years since Ronald Reagan left office in January 1989, no other presidential candidate of either party has won Florida by even half as much as Trump did in 2024."
Where is Mar-a-lago again? oh yeah! //////
When you consider that the people fleeing NY over the last 10 years were disprportionately Trump voters, that's what makes it remarkable.
Speaking of bad poetry.
The elephant in the room carried Trump in the trunk.
link to mysterious graph .
It’s like a drone sighting.
When you watch NY openly welcome illegal immigrants that burn people alive, while prosecuting a US Marine that subdued a murderous thug; it isn’t surprising at all. Except, I don’t know what Trump has to do about it. Is it because NY Dems must do everything the exact opposite of Trump, even if it puts innocent lives at risk?
The problem that the Trump team has is the narrow Republican majority in the House. Trump was able to persuade working class voters in historic Democrat districts to vote for him, but they still voted for their Democrat Representatives. Can Trump use the next 2 years to Make Congress Great Again? That will tell the tale on his success or failure in the 2nd term.
TL/DR: voting patterns shift over time, more specifically, a candidate does better when he wins than when he loses, and does better when he wins by a bigger margin.
This is why “eliminating the electoral college” may not provide the results people imagine. Of course the cry for such action is less urgent than in some years on account of the winner in this election capturing it, and the popular vote. What can’t be predicted is the number of voters that choose not to vote on account of the expected results in their particular state.
For instance in California the number of Republican voters who choose to not participate in the presidential election is likely significant.
The same may hold true for Democrats in Florida.
Benjamin Franklin said experience is a hard teacher but a fool will learn at no other. He most certainly had his countrymen in mind.
Maybe we should change the aphorism to when a clown moves into the palace, the palace becomes a classroom. And for our first hard lesson ….
so, some serious questions..
Of the states that Trump won.. How many had voter ID?
Of the states that Trump lost... How many DIDN'T have voter ID?
If New York and California had voter ID.. How many Republican Reps would have won?
Less than half of the votes counted were NOT votes for Trump.. How many non-Trump votes were ACTUAL votes?
Iowa has voter ID.. Trump carried it
New Hampshire has voter ID.. and is THE ONLY state with Voter ID Trump DIDN'T carry
Nevada - Trump carried the state. Not only that, but Nevada voted for picture ID to vote.
Go ahead and hate on Trump and his voters if I makes you feel better. But the Democrats did not offer a viable alternative.
Why is Jeffrey Andersen surprised? The anonymity of the voting booth is a great place for a fed-up New Yawka to give a quiet middle finger to people like Kathy Hochul and Alvin Bragg.
I live in New Jersey, and I have NEVER been asked to see ID, although I have mine out, and shove it under their noses every election.
Almost every state that Trump won requires voters to present ID. Almost every state tgat Harris won does not require voters to present ID. Make of that what you will.

Ka-ka lunacy…
The Supreme Clown Biden has been seen salting the earth and creating as many headaches and taking crippling actions as he can. Oh, what a patriotic American he is.
That’s how your lot rolls, kaka-apoplexy.
The Democratic hate pill was less potent than they expected. ACLU, SPLC, NAACP et al need to up their game. Hoisted by their Fani.
In AZ, mail in ballots do not require ID.
As a resident of SoFla, the vast majority of all but the northern part of the state always was heavy Dem voting. In my hometown in northern Palm Beach Co, in the 2016 election, every precinct went for Trump, except two: the historically all-black area and the mostly all-black section 8 area. The same, AFAIK, happened this year. But the county went to Harris by less than a percentage point, as well as Broward. However, Miami-Dade went Republican for the first time in decades
This asswipe promoting that quote is what is known as "self-own".
Do’h! 👆🏽
Kamala was the weakest major party candidate ever.
Mondale would like to have a word with you.
Clown, is it? Better than a cocksucker, if you ask me.
Trump carried North Carolina, which requires photo ID.
"Weakest ever"? Was Kamala photographed driving a tank?
I rest my case.
Mondale was an effective legislator and spoke coherently and credibly. Dukakis was a well regarded governor and a decent human being who earned his spot on the ticket.
Is it because NY Dems must do everything the exact opposite of Trump, even if it puts innocent lives at risk?
Yes. And it's not just New York.
I’m baffled by the assumption that the Donks didn’t cheat in 2024. I bet there were hundreds of thousands of fraudulent votes.
Lawyers in the right places might have made a difference this year, but the Democrats fraud infrastructure isn’t going away.
If you listen Dem radio channels, they are still trying to figure out how to get the message out that Joe Biden was the greatest President since FDR. And they plan to counter everything Trump does with legal challenges. I suppose that's why Biden is appointing so many judges right now. They think that obstruction and slander and smears as a strategy worked in Trump's first term and so it will work this time, too. But people won't believe them so easily this time around. I think the election showed that the public is aware lawfare and smears as the Dem substitute for policy proposals.
Losers always whine.
Yes, I've been saying that again and again. The difference was Trump's larger margin, and some better monitoring by the Rs, but mail-in voting provides plenty of opportunity for Dems to cheat. Getting rid of that has to be a major priority in the next two years.
This is a misreading of what happened in the Congressional races in 2020 and 2022. (Sean Trende wrote two articles for RCP that laid out why the CW about 2022 especially is generally wrong). The Democrats lost 15 seats in the House in 2020 despite winning the White House which is a situation that only occurred three times before in US Presidental elections, and it was the second largest loss of seats in that situation. In 2022, the GOP then held those seats (net) and added to them in order to gain control of the House. This is generally lost in the focus on the White House race in 2020, the interminable number of Senate races from 2018-2022 (IIRC Georgia voted for a Senator something like 7 times counting run-offs in that period), and what should have been recognized as bogus claims for a 'Red Wave' in 2022. Basically 2024 is the third election in a row that House GOP candidates have done well enough to obtain and maintain a majority.
