When you are surrounded by angry hungry wolves, you throw a piece of raw red meat to the wolves in order to make your escape. Matt Gaetz is the piece of raw red meat.

It has been reported that Tren de Aragua is now in Wisconsin. There was no mention of where, but I think it would be safe to assume they are in the population centers of Milwaukee and Madison. From your pictures it looks like the area of your morning trek is the perfect place for a Lakin Riley type assualt. I hope you are taking the proper precautions. Remember, if you are forced to use deadly force to defend yourself, the first thing you do is call 911. The second thing you do is call your lawyer!

@William50, I was told the other way around — call your lawyer before 911. Can someone who knows more about self defense law in Wisconsin weigh in? Also be sure sure to ask for an ambulance in the 911 call, even if your round went right through the bridge of his nose. You need to show concern fr uour assailant’s well-being, even if you were defending your life.

Big Mike, this was per my Wisconsin conceal carry class. I am now licensed in Wisconsin.

When calling 911 you need to report that you were in fear for your life which resulted in you shooting someone. You need to unload your weapon, place it away from you and wait for the police to arrive.

Jaq said...

Putin is not going to go nuclear, he is probably going to respond by targeting American "advisors," like those who are running the Patriot batteries, or something like that. He got mad at France once early in the war over what rumor said was a French special forces attack inside of Russia (it's a rumor, there is no link), and blew up a hotel with a bunch of French mercenaries in it, and Macron got furious, so it's not without precedent that he would respond in this way.

He also said that his response would be public and known to all, but that doesn't rule out brushback operations like sabotaging comms cables in addition.

I highly recommend that anyone with a conceal carry license join USCCA, U.S. Conceal Carry Assoc.

All the fuss about Trump saying he's going to use the Army to deport illegals seems to miss the point, though he could explain it better. The military won't be needed to pick up Jorge at the slaughterhouse and put him on a bus to the airport. He's not the main problem.

The cartels that import the illegals are so large, so wealthy, so well-armed, so unrestricted by any border controls, and so utterly ruthless that American police forces, state and local, will not be able to handle them. They will be totally outgunned, and it will take a professional military to defeat and destroy the cartels. They've killed tens of thousands of Mexicans, including hundreds of politicians at all levels of government and at least one archbishop, and will likely try to do the same here. I expect a great deal of bloodshed, and hope that Trump's men are competent enough to make sure it's nearly all cartel blood that is shed.

PA county official apologizes after facing backlash for disregarding 'precedent' in ballot decision

"I wanted to start by apologizing for the upset and confusion that I have caused the citizens of Bucks County and the hardworking employees of this county and my family and those who share my last name,” Ellis-Marseglia said at a meeting on Wednesday, per The Hill.

“Anyone who knows me knows that I care a lot about elections and I have been involved in them all my life, virtually," she continued. "And like all of you and all Americans, I want this election and every election to be fair, to be honest, to be just and one we can have confidence in."

Massachusetts loudmouth mayors and governor have been a bit more careful with their language. Unlike last time they are not claiming they will engage in active interference with INS but rather claiming local law will cooperate when violent criminals are involved but not others…and there’s framing lack of cooperation as a state’s rights issues, suddenly shifting their attitude to ‘there’s state laws we must follow- our hands are tied’….but IMO they do seem kind of scared about it. I hope for good reason…

Saint Croix said...

What's striking about the Matt Gaetz nomination is how many Republicans are not on board with this. You see this at the National Review (of course), but also on the Althouse blog and in Congress. Many of these Republicans seem to take the anonymous and leaked DOJ "investigation" seriously, when they know full well the DOJ is a partisan shit-show and has been since Merrick Garland took over.

Garland is the worst AG of my lifetime. He arrests pro-lifers for being pro-lifers. He arrests parents for going to PTA meetings. I don't know if he is a firebrand masquerading as milk toast. Or he's milk toast, and the worst president of my lifetime, Joe Biden, is the one who orchestrated all of this. I don't know and I don't care. The DOJ is a joke at the moment, and I trust them about as far as I can throw them.

The Republican party used to remember this. They were outraged, supposedly, when the DOJ raided Donald Trump's house to seize all his papers. It was unified opposition, at least for the newspapers. Republicans know that every president takes papers home with him, and some dippy shit vice presidents do, too.

Republicans also know, in our hearts, that four criminal prosecutions in an election year was a fucking joke. Independents know it, too, and many Democrats. And many judges. The American people know it, too, which is why the "felon" and "rapist" won an election over an incompetent who had no such criminal charges.

I would beg my fellow Republicans to recognize that this lawfare is not normal. The DOJ today is not a normal, ethical place. So please spare me your editorials about how you know some attorneys better than Matt Gaetz. This is not a normal confirmation hearing, because the DOJ is not a normal DOJ.

I give exactly zero shits about the secret investigation by the DOJ who tried interfering with an election in the USA. My presumption is that Matt Gaetz is an innocent man. I presume this because the law requires it, and because the partisan shit-show that is the DOJ was unable to convince the House to remove him. (And, I imagine, many in the House very much want to remove him, because Gaetz upended the Speaker in a legal and yet notorious way).

I get why many Republicans want to put all this behind us, and pretend like all this illegality at the DOJ didn't happen. But it did happen. I don't know if Trump and Gaetz are planning on prosecuting people. If we were Democrats, we would be prosecuting the shit out of everybody. And the media would be cheering us.

I understand that we are not Democrats. I also understand that the media will not be cheering us. But I also think a lot of people at the DOJ should lose their jobs. And some of them, perhaps, should be investigated, arrested, and prosecuted. I don't know. That question is beyond me.

But I do not think it is too much to ask the Republicans in Congress to support the "criminal" who just won a major election, and to support his "criminal" appointments. That's because he's not a criminal at all. The DOJ is acting outside the law, and has been doing so for a while. So no, I am not on board with an ordinary AG nomination and an ordinary AG confirmation. I'd like an extraordinary one, please.

So I vote to support Donald Trump and his nominee to head the DOJ, Matt Gaetz.

I disagree with the tweet, BTW, this is not going to bother Biden one bit, it's a scare tactic that is hugely expensive, if this is the best Russia does, the US will escalate further. It was just the best video I could find. Now, also, we have fragments of a Russian ICBM to look at.

Dr Weevil said...

Anyone who reads TrentTelenko on Twitter knows (link) that the 6 MRVed warheads (not MIRVed: they all hit together) were almost certainly "inert simulated warheads" designed for testing, that even if they had been live non-nuclear warheads they would have done far less damage than heavy bombers that cost a fraction as much, and that "by any military standard . . . this ICBM launch was a political desperation move by the Putin Regime aimed at Western political idiots".

As for whether they worked, (a) no one here has 'assured' Jaq as a fact "that they would not work", just pointed out that their last three nuclear tests were duds or disasters (blowing up the launch pad), (b) there are reports on Twitter that they fired two this time and one crashed on the way without doing any damage. True or not? No way to be sure.

Jaq said...

"Reports on twitter..."

Sounds great. Looks like your guys are going to win this stuff without our help!

Jaq said...

It's not automatically a "war crime" just because Ukrainians get hit. Although if you only followed Ukrainian twitter and telegram, you might think that. But even if it is, there are plenty of war crimes, double taps, etc, to go around in this war. Ukraine double tapped with US supplied HIMARS when they hit a civilian bakery in Donetsk City because they were selling bread to the Russian militia that had been fighting for what, 4,000 days, not quite yet, against the Maidan "ultranationalists" taking over. Russia has also used double taps.

There are plenty of "war crimes" in every war, and the only real crime in war is to lose. Look what the US did to Dresden, for example, in WWII.

Jaq said...

Tell you what, if credible video shows up the the crash site of this second medium range missile, which you say is in Ukraine, so it should be showing up any minute now, I will be the first to post it. What a propaganda coup that will be!

Dr Weevil said...

When every single target except one in Ukrainian cities (=not at the front lines) over the last six months has been an apartment building, hospital, school, grocery store, or other civilian target, that is in fact a systematic on-going massive war crime. (I mentioned they did manage to hit a military training school a couple of months ago.) When the schools and grocery stores are hit in the day time, the apartment houses at night, it becomes clear that they are trying to increase, not decrease, civilian casualties. The first drones Ukraine sent to Moscow that flew over Red Square and hit some government buildings did so in the middle of the night, when no one but a night watchman was in any danger, and the Russians didn't even claim any casualties.

The claim that both sides do it is in fact a damned filthy lie in this case. To take another example: Russian POWs complain that they aren't served their favorite fancy salads; Ukrainian POWs are shot, beheaded, castrated, or if they're lucky starved to 100 pounds under their original weight. And that's fine with Jaq: he supports Russian war crimes.

Of course, when our Russian toadie gives one alleged example of a Ukrainian double tap without any link or even any date, though implying that it happened years ago, well that just makes him an unusually eager toadie, gobbling down Putin's rotting toads with gusto.

Jaq said...

"When every single target except one in Ukrainian cities (=not at the front lines) over the last six months has been an apartment building,..."

You just made a claim last week about an attack inn Odessa Putin supposedly "deliberately targeted" a civilian building, and it turned out that it was a falling Patriot interceptor that did the damage and caused the deaths. This makes what you said a lie.

Dr Weevil said...

Stupid Jaq doesn't understand that if all but one of the occupied buildings struck by Russian missiles, bombs, and drones this year was a civilian target, they are obviously aiming at civilian targets. The fact that they have hit as many as three hospitals in one night might also give him a clue.

If, now and then, a civilian target is hit by a weapon aimed at a different civilian target, that was diverted by anti-aircraft fire, or even hit by an anti-aircraft weapon that missed its target, that does not affect the moral question. The fact is that Russia constantly bombards civilian neighborhoods that have no military targets in or near them, and is morally and ethically responsible for all deaths there.

Similarly, if you rob a bank and take a teller hostage, get into a shootout with the police, and the hostage is killed, you can and will be charged with murder even if a police bullet killed the hostage. The death is still your fault. And the Russians don't even deny that they target civilians. The latest 'hypersonic' missile strike that injured dozens, many of them critically, was, according to Putin himself, an experiment to see if the missile worked. Yes, Russia "experiments" by firing massive weapons at civilians, and our coprophagic ninny 'Jaq' thinks that's just fine. What a disgusting facsimile of a human being he is!
