Saw my Vietnamese Doc again today.

He said he had been treating a lot of patients for depression…because of the election results.

I laughed. Then after thinking a minute I asked if he was serious. He said yes. He related that one woman had to be restrained. Another asked to be sent to an inpatient treatment center.

Good grief. Guess I may refrain from wearing my MAGA hat, didn’t realize how many lunatics are still out there.

I'm not sure I'd be comfortable going to a doctor who talks about other patients. No matter what the cause.

Jim, I love him. He keeps me healthy. Just after the election he asked me if I voted red(he knew I did). I said yes, he said, "My work is completed, I kept you alive until you voted." He's a hoot. We have a great relationship, many primary doctors now days are too busy to forge good relationships with their patients.

The media in the United States has a business model and it's this:

Keep people hyped up in a sense of constant panic, or they won't stay glued to the television 24 hours a day. They'll go out and do other things. Our ratings will suffer.

They don't care if they're making half the country mentally ill. That's even BETTER for them and the advertisers who support media companies like NBC, CNN, CBS, etc.

It's BAD for America. It's a tort. And we should sue to get their broadcast licenses revoked.

Donald Trump, not even President yet, is announcing agreements he has negotiated with Mexican's weirdly Jewish President ... how the hell did the Jews conquer Mexico without anybody noticing ... to staunch the flow of Biden's illegal alien invasion on our Southern border. Trump threatened to, I don't know, start charging people extra for tacos or something and this broad immediately caved.

,... Anyhoo ... no word yet on whether the DOJ will indict Trump on Logan Act charges for conducting foreign policy as a private citizen.

I'm guessing John Kerry is urging them not to.

Gospace म्हणाले...

My mother bought us our first television, a 13" color TV CRT on sale for $299 when our eldest was born. When she realized we didn't have one- and she was addicted to Dallas... A few years back we bought a 70" TV for about $399 after my daughter's 20% off on one purchase when she worked at Wallyworld. Just before the Black Friday ads appeared- it started showing lines at the bottom and a narrow band on the right was blank...

Inflation adjusted that $299 is now over $1100 according to online inflation calculators. With housing and chocolate bars- probably more than that. My new 85" TV, put up today with help from my son-in-law, was $985.99 with tax. And because I used the warehouse clubs, charge card- that I pay in full every month to avoid interest- I'm getting 15% back in reward money to spend on food and staples I normally buy there.

It's weird how inflation works and is calculated. Food, energy, housing, staples like toilet paper, have gone up by an incredible amount. Televisions and electronics- down by an incredible amount with better products... And communications down by a lot. IIRC, about $20 a month in 1978 for one line, connected to the house. Only place you could send and receive calls. And on top of that long distance, which for us averaged over $50 a month since we were on one coast and both our families on the other. I'm now paying $110 a month for 3 lines, can send and receive calls anywhere, anytime, get messages at any time, and browse the internet and/or play games. Inflation adjusted, a lot less money.

Aside from that, after mounting the TV he left for home. And we finished making tomorrow's dinner- the turkey was already in the oven when he arrived. We're providing the turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, mashed rutabaga, and cranberry sauce. They're throwing some pies in the oven for after the main course. They're dealing with newborn twins, so we figured getting it done in advance would be easier all around.

Chart of the Day…. or Century?

Various observations that have been made about the huge divergence in price patterns over the last several decades include:

a. The greater (lower) the degree of government involvement in the provision of a good or service the greater (lower) the price increases (decreases) over time, e.g., hospital and medical costs, college tuition, childcare with both large degrees of government funding/regulation and large price increases vs. software, electronics, toys, cars and clothing with both relatively less government funding/regulation and falling prices. As somebody on Twitter commented:

Blue lines = prices subject to free market forces. Red lines = prices subject to regulatory capture by government. Food and drink is debatable either way. Conclusion: remind me why socialism is so great again.

Marc Andreessen Describes "Alarming" Meeting With Biden Admin That Prompted His Trump Endorsement

""We had meetings [Biden officials] this spring that were the most alarming meetings I've ever been in. Where they were taking us through their plans, and it was - basically just full government - full government control - like this sort of thing, there will be a small number of large companies that will be completely regulated and controlled by the government, they told us. They said don't even start startups - there's just no way that they can succeed - there's no way that we're going to permit that to happen." "

It looks like Dixcus is ignorant as well as anti-Semitic. He apparently doesn't know that most of the countries of Latin America, like those of North America, attract immigrants from a lot of different countries, and some of them rise to high office. Just looking at their names, you can see that Paraguay has had an ethnic German dictator (Alfredo Stroessner), Peru an ethnic Japanese president and later dictator (Alberto Fujimori), El Salvador right now has an ethnic Palestinian (on his father's side) president (Nayib Bukele), and Argentina produced a 100% ethnic Italian pope (Jorge Mario Bergoglio). Why the Hell shouldn't Mexico elect a Jew?

“We had meetings [Biden officials] this spring that were the most alarming meetings I've ever been in.”
I listened to the Andreessen interview today.
I’m beginning to wonder how many of the chess moves were beyond our intellectual abilities.
I got the impression that the government crackdown on tech in terms of debanking, censorship, regulation was reaching alarming proportions. Yet not a peep of protest. Then spontaneously in July and the following months an avalanche of endorsements. Was the timing a happy coincidence or a well thought out planned attack.
For the sake of the argument let’s agree that the danger to our freedoms was as great as Marc portrayed. If the tech giants had visibly thrown their support behind Trump earlier, the deep staters would have been able to formulate a stronger counter attack. They didn’t see the lethality of the threat until it was too late.
If you look at the past 2, 3 years from that perspective, the (il)legal moves against Trump make more sense. It wasn’t just Trump, the individual, the deep staters were afraid of.
It’s an interesting thought.

Mason G म्हणाले...

Harry LItman uncovers the reason Trump won: "vast fractions of the electorate – roughly those who voted for Trump – had a false narrative fed to them by right-wing media, which has become more powerful than legacy media"

Harry Litman explaining how Trump won in spite of his criminal and constitutional treachery.

Jaq म्हणाले...

"False consciousness," not factually false, of course. We heard the boss of NPR explain that too much deference to truth gets in the way of getting things done, and the CIA explains that "disinformation" is not necessarily factually false, it's just stuff that counters the preferred "narrative" of your side.

They are trying to outlaw AfD in Germany prior to the coming election there to "protect democracy" and trying to put Marie LePen behind bars in France, on account of she is likely to win the presidency next election, you know, to "protect democracy." That's their narrative, and they are sticking to it.

I am so sick of them, and of being lied to about everything. Trump is actually the "light bringer," he is the one who has made the manipulation by the Democrats and the media plain.

Jaq म्हणाले...

Here is the real problem. A nation's "information space" is a vulnerability. We have been using these vulnerabilities to overthrow governments all around the world, not just Ukraine, but that was a big one. Once one sees how vulnerable a country is to narrative manipulation, having done it oneself so many times, one gets paranoid. I keep saying that we are living out the prequel to 1984. In theory, it would not be so bad if our governments were able to somehow lock the lies out of our information space, but the problem is that Western governments are run by an alliance of corrupted kleptocrats, and neocons, who see the corruption of leaders as a golden opportunity. Neither the neocons, nor the corrupt leaders of the West, want the objective truth, insofar as it is possible to be known, to be known.

OK, I haven't watched the video, but as a person with professional experience in gathering this kind of date from telecoms, it seems plausible. Anyway, the claim, which is very plausible, is that data brokers got hold of cellular signaling data, which allows a user who knows how to do it, to follow users around and to their homes, this is the same data that was used, very very plausibly, IMHO, to identify the 2000 mules who stole Georgia in 2020.

Anyway, the data was "left exposed online by a location data broker with ties to the Defense Department called NIR Intelligence” and they did a search on Epstein Island, and traced nearly 200 mobile phones that had visited the island back to their homes.

https://x.com/WallStreetApes/status/1861237441346314615

From the comments, they trace back to Martha's Vineyard, Nantucket, Kiev, [could have been looking for kompromat instead of young girls, which they could obtain in Ukraine, no problem, with all of the orphans], like I said, the whole thing makes me sick, and I just can't watch it, but this looks like a breakthrough. Oh craph, Now I have to watch it.

Of course it's Wired, so they mention that they got a hit on the sidewalk across the street from Trump Tower in NYC. But in fairness, they say that there is no verified contact between Trump and Epstein after Epstein's conviction as a sex offender.

Ultimately, while this is a huge opportunity, Wired is probably publishing this piece as a shakedown of whoever these nearly 200 extremely wealthy people are.

Note that Bloomberg and CBS take exactly the wrong message--that the price of the goods that have been steadily decreasing will be increased by trade barriers (i.e., tariffs). True, but really beside the point.

Starting at about 1 hour and 33 minutes, the discussion takes a scary turn. All about the federal government de-banking people. It's like getting kicked off a media platform. Except now they're kicking you out of the banking system. Andreessen says 30 tech founders have been de-banked over the last four years. (Most of them in the crypto industry). One guy was de-banked just because he had crypto in his job title. It's also expanded politically. For instance, David Horowitz has been de-banked.

Nothing on in the media! And all of the victims are on the right, nobody on the left.

Andreessen names CPFB as the bad actor in all this. Musk is calling for the CPFB to be eliminated.

Saint Croix म्हणाले...

Saint Croix म्हणाले...

This explains why crypto has been skyrocketing lately. Biden administration has been doing a secret war on crypto.

Saint Croix म्हणाले...

And a war on the VC industry. (Which is weird because that's a California industry!)

They wanted to lock in the big banks and big tech companies and control them. And they didn't want any start-ups destabilizing that.

Saint Croix म्हणाले...

And the SEC. This interview is mind-boggling.

Eva Marie म्हणाले...

I didn’t make my point clear. And that is that tech leader support for Trump seemed to rise up spontaneously. Maybe it did. But maybe the tech leaders gamed it out. The deep staters (shorthand for permanent bureaucracy + Democrats) thought they had tech solidly behind them. In the spring of 2024 they summoned leaders to DC and implicitly communicated to them to shut up if they expected any mercy from the expanding regulatory atmosphere that would surround them in 2025 and the future. If the tech industry had sounded the alarm publicly, the Biden government would have had enough time to formulate a strategy (for example: big business is in bed with Trump and greedy Republicans). But the tech giants held their fire for maximum impact. By July, August the Democrat attack was solidly Trump = Hitler. They were too committed to that line of attack. Whereas tech leaders began to increase the volume of their support for Trump and were flexible enough to respond to the movement of public opinion. The Trump campaign kept adding pressure by expanding their opposition to the Biden/Democrat/deep state. Whether all of that was spontaneous or thoroughly gamed out is my only point. As voter sentiment shifted to Republicans/Trump all Democrats could see to do was doubling and tripling down on TrumpHitler. And so they lost. Check mate.
