Show is so edgy now with a murderer starring in it.

Captain BillieBob કહ્યું...

I tried watching.......couldn't do it, just couldn't do it. Still not funny.

Achilles કહ્યું...

Sheen looked like he was in a hostage video and knows he isn't getting his family back.

narciso કહ્યું...

What is this snl you speak of

Cacimbo કહ્યું...

They didn't dare mention that many believe Biden voted for Trump - only explanation for how clearly delighted he is that Trump won.

narciso કહ્યું...

John travolta had a smaller bubble

It is interesting watching the regime lackeys lose hope. Before they could insulate themselves because they had power they illegitimately seized in 2020.

Now the pendulum is going to swing back hard.

I look forward to "Republican" senators hearing from millions of constituents on a daily basis during the confirmation hearings for the cabinet picks.

They couldnt cope with reagan in the first part of 1981 then eddie murphy came in

gilbar કહ્યું...

i'm curious what the demographics of this show actually are?
i know of only TWO people that actually watch it..
Ann Althouse (a 72(ish?) year old white affluent midwestern woman)
and my mom (a 92 year old white affluent midwestern woman)

i'm Not saying that ONLY rich white female midwestern senior citizens watch it;
i'm just wondering what it's demographics Actually ARE (not what they say they are)

Achilles કહ્યું...

It is old. All of TV and legacy media is watched by old people.

None of their stuff is funny enough to get views on social media so nobody watches it there either.

rehajm કહ્યું...

ooh- a burn only old people will feel…

Disparity of Cult કહ્યું...

SNL would have been canceled years ago, if the ratings and demographics mattered.

Howard કહ્યું...

Parts of it were funny. However they screwed it up by introducing the two additional characters that were decidedly unfunny. I can't believe I'm saying this but I kind of feel sorry for Alec Baldwin. He can't even qualify for a set of steak knives anymore

rehajm કહ્યું...

It now serves a purpose so it will never die. The View will never die. MSNBC will never die. They will be shelved and some lackeys will try to build some trust to use them for the next election cycle…

There used to be an unfunny "satirical" magazine called "Spy". Supposedly "iconoclastic" and "edgy". And it wasn't. It went after the same ol' tired targets that every other liberal/left comedian and comedy show went after. It was for little old ladies from Dubuque and San francisco. That's SNL now. Its for conformist school teachers and dweebs.

BTW, already the Party line has been sent out and they're trying to stop Matt Gaetz from being AG. You can always tell who the Liberal establishment regards as a threat by who gets attacked on TV shows.

RCOCEAN II કહ્યું...

when your funniest joke is showing a cartoon, you need better writers.

Scott Patton કહ્યું...

Someone was conspicuous in her absence. But I guess sad is rarely funny.

Wince કહ્યું...

I couldn't understand the big applause line when the Trump guy said, "We've got Elon and Matt Gaetz, an alien..." wha?????

rehajm કહ્યું...

…and a predator…

wild chicken કહ્યું...

Althouse commenters: "SNL hasn't been funny since the Coneheads.". Anyway, I thought it was good. But Biden is not a Boomer! Ffs.

Cappy કહ્યું...

Opening sketch halfway decent. Switched to college football when expected woke screeching set in afterward.

Achilles કહ્યું...

Baldwin. Sheen. Whatever.

William કહ્યું...

I liked the rapid fire delivery, but the jokes were lame. They were firing blanks, except for Baldwin.

The Real Andrew કહ્યું...

For a palate cleanser, here’s Dana Carvey visiting the Bush (Sr.) White House.

Did Trump actually come out best out of all those characters? Not possible at SNL!

Your brain knows bullshit.

I always love it when people try to defend something current by implying or saying that all the critics are old fuddie duddies, who haven't liked anything since Ozzie and Harriet.

They have it backwards. Just because its current, doesnt mean its good. Things don't just evolve and devolve. And sometimes things actually were better in the past.

But its a good rhetorical trick. Instead of defending something new, you just call the critics "Old farts". A smarter version of Teenage snark

Lazarus કહ્યું...

Maybe not truly edgy or iconoclastic, but a new satire outlet can be like breath of fresh air. That was a lot of the appeal of Spy or SNL or Mad Magazine or National Lampoon in the beginning. I thought they were all funny in the beginning. That had a lot to do with the novelty. They were doing things that other people weren't doing. Eventually the air gets stale. The content and the format become repetitive and uninteresting.

Spy's three big targets were A. M. Rosenthal, Bret Easton Ellis, both now forgotten, and ... Donald Trump. It was hard to tell if the magazine really hated them or was just using them as pegs to hang the usual gags on. The satirists and those they satirized were part of the same media community. To me as an outsider, it would have been silly for the satirists to assume that they were much better than the objects of their satire.

Peachy કહ્યું...

Agree. The first part was funny. The extras including Alec Baldwin - seemed forced and were un-funny.

loudogblog કહ્યું...

Alec Baldwin was not funny. I got the feeling that the really didn't know where to go with that character. So he just read the lines off the teleprompter with a raspy voice. I also got a similar vibe from the actress who was playing Gaetz. It was like she was letting the makeup do most of the work. (Although, the makeup was so heavy that may have required her not to show expression on her face.)

loudogblog કહ્યું...

Little known fact: That was one of only three "young people/made-for-TV" movies in the 1970s that didn't have Lance Kerwin in it.

loudogblog કહ્યું...

It's kind of a dead time slot. Anyone awake at that hour on a Saturday night is probably "socializing" and that just happens to be playing on the living room TV. The guests might pay attention to it when the musical guest appears, then they ignore it again.

Bushman of the Kohlrabi કહ્યું...

Just imagine the jokes they could have written for Biden’s cabinet. The fact you can only imagine them is the real problem with SNL.

tcrosse કહ્યું...

Spy always referred to Trump as the short-fingered vulgarian.

narciso કહ્યું...

Apparently they did a joke at p nuts expense

Aggie કહ્યું...

Will they concoct an impression of Junior', and risk being accused of making fun of somebody's disability? He'll be tough to impersonate....

MadisonMan કહ્યું...

I don't watch SNL -- but I am curious: What kind of ads are played while SNL is on?

SweatBee કહ્યું...

I'm old enough to remember when SNL cast members didn't need an obvious cue card to walk on stage, speak one line, then walk off stage.
