Beautiful cathedral and I'm delighted at the restoration but what on earth was Louise Bausiere doing for 2 years?

Ludicrous gaffe from NBC News, in "World gets first look at Notre Dame's new interior 5 years after devastating fire/'It was a challenge many deemed impossible, yet one we will have met on,' French President Emmanuel Macron said as he visited the medieval monument":
Louise Bausiere, who spent the last two years working on the cathedral's knave, told NBC News Wednesday said she hoped people would admire what the team of craftsmen had done.

A knave is "A dishonest unprincipled man; a cunning unscrupulous rogue; a villain" (OED).

The main part of church building is called a nave.

(Thanks to commenter Kate for pointing me there.)

What an apsehole.

Obviously as the knave, Louise was the most disliked craftswoman on the project...

They also forgot the word "head" in their quote of Macron.

Admirable, but that sounds like work the priests should doing.
At least they can no longer call the son of a gun an unreconstructed knave.

Brilliant! Perhaps the NBC producer has difficulty seeing such gross monstrosities. She should see an oculus.

Having this monument restored properly is a pleasant surprise.

It is a testament to Macron's failure that the church is restored and he is removed from power in the same year.

Macron hasn't left yet...in precisely the way Brexit hasn't really happened...and no doubt as the dems/GOPe/deep state alliance will be working with all their might to ensure the next 2 years of US governance doesn't change from the previous 4 years.

I got distracted thinking I was looking for a dirty joke. You're right. NBC sucks.

I wish I'd thought of one. I still might.

Residual orthography. Middle English would pronounce the "K" in "a K-nave with a K-nife in his K-nee"

The fact that this monument was restored to its original state demonstrates his impotence an the impotence of the people keeping him in power. The German government has fallen. The globalists in Poland will soon lose their grip. Starmer is going to hold on to power with a bitter and determined angst. You can see he is not smart enough to see the peril he is in.

The foreign edifices that kept Macron and his husband in power are being destroyed as we speak. Trump will not allow the European Union to do the things they need to do to hold power.

The path for these tyrants is set.

[Yawn]. Old news, and not just NBC. Back in 2016 Obama administration official Ben Rhodes was bragging how easy was to manipulate modern journalists because they were 27 year olds who literally knew nothing. If anything, the situation has gotten worse.

Remind me: How many EV charging stations did the Biden administration install for the $7.5 billion dollars appropriated in 2021?

The misspelling is still there at 12:15 EST on 11/29. Proof that no one at NBC reads Althouse.

It's curious that nave is spelled correctly in the figure caption in the same article.

It is worth noting the entirely coincidental timing of the first ringing of the bells of the restored church, the day after Trump's election victory, not because the two are connected in any way except temporally, but because noting it may bother the right kind of people who hate both Trump and Catholic cathedrals.

It's wonderful that Notre Dame's first Mass post- restoration will be December 8, the traditional date of the Feast of the Immaculate Conception.
