Biden held his first cabinet meeting today in 11 months. He ran out of steam after a few minutes and turned the meeting over to … not Kamala. DR. JIIL !
Even the Bidens know Kamala isn’t up to running anything.
So you’re saying, that given the choice AND having seen Kamala’s performance as border czar, Joe Biden prefers his wife to take over his duties rather than Kamala.
Georgia’s law does NOT criminalize doing a D&C (nor does any other state law), especially when there is no detectable fetal heart rate (which there weren’t in this case).
GA’s law also allows for a D&C, even with a detectable heartbeat, to prevent the death or serious physical impairment of a pregnant woman. It prevents a D&C that has the sole intent of ending the life of a preborn human being."
“Thurman could have been cured with a D&C, or dilation and curettage, a procedure in which the cervix is dilated to create an opening through which instruments can be inserted to empty out the contents of a uterus. The procedure is a popular form of abortion, but it is also a routine part of miscarriage and other gynecological care. If the tissue was promptly removed, she probably would have been fine: a D&C requires no special equipment and takes only about 15 minutes.
But Georgia’s abortion ban outlawed the D&C procedure, making it a felony to perform except in cases of managing a “spontaneous” or “naturally occurring” miscarriage. Because Thurman had taken abortion pills, her miscarriage was illegal to treat. She suffered in a hospital bed for 20 hours, developing sepsis and beginning to experience organ failure. By the time the Georgia doctors were finally willing to treat her, it was too late.“
“The bill exempts "removing a dead unborn child caused by spontaneous abortion," also known as a miscarriage, or "removing an ectopic pregnancy," which is a pregnancy in which the fetus develops outside the uterus
“Thurman became septic in the hospital due to excess tissue in her uterus that did not shed from her body, causing a serious infection. Thurman needed a dilation and curettage, or D&C, a procedure in which tissue is removed from inside the uterus. However, Georgia's ban considers a D&C a felony if performed outside of specific circumstances and could land doctors behind bars for up to 10 years.”
Inga said: "However, Georgia's ban considers a D&C a felony if performed outside of specific circumstances and could land doctors behind bars for up to 10 years.”
""The reason Georgia’s abortion law is not responsible for Thurman’s death is simple, it explicitly allows physicians to intervene in cases of medical emergencies or if the fetus has no detectable heartbeat, both of which applied in Thurman’s case," AAPLOG's Dr. Christina Francis wrote in an op-ed at the Atlanta Journal-Constitution."
Billionaire hedge funder John Paulson says he’ll yank his money from market if Kamala Harris wins election https://www.foxbusiness.com/politics/billionaire-hedge-fund-manager-says-he-would-pull-his-money-from-market-harris-wins-election
This is the crazy billionaire version of moving to Canada. No one moved, and billionaires love money too much to pull out of the market.
“It’s the combination of the vague wording and high personal stakes for the medical providers that create a situation where a patient like Thurman can fall through the cracks, said Greer Donley, an associate professor of law at the University of Pittsburgh who is a national expert on abortion.
“They’re afraid that if they act too quickly, they could lose their freedom, their vocation, everything – like the stakes are exceptionally high,” Donley said. “And so, you have to understand when you think about the vague laws, how you would act, how any rational person would act when those are the stakes of trying to understand vague laws.”
But she also said in Thurman’s case, the risk of prosecution would have been low since the fetus was deceased when Thurman arrived at the hospital. Doctors met at least twice to discuss whether to perform a D&C, according to ProPublica.
Still, Georgia’s law is not crystal clear on that point either, Donley said. The law says it is not an abortion to remove a dead fetus if the fetus died because of a spontaneous miscarriage.
“This just shows you the types of questions that have to be answered at the very outset, like whether it was an abortion at all, and then from there, the next question becomes, if it’s an abortion, at what point is her health in such great risk that the medical exception kicks in,” Donley said.
Still, Donley said, despite the ambiguity, it is clear that the doctors should have acted in Thurman’s situation.“
It is also not a crime to remove the remnants of a baby that has previously been aborted. In fact, the danger of chemical homicides is born in the remainder of the carbon-based tissue of the child that was not expunged through natural process or anthropogenic intrusion. #HateLovesAbortion
Emigration reform to mitigate progress and collateral damage at both ends of the bridge and throughout. Democrats are in bed with corporate collusion (e.g. Obamacares) and redistributive change (e.g. progressive prices or capital extraction).
“Georgia’s committee has 32 regular members from a variety of backgrounds, including OB-GYNs, cardiologists, mental health care providers, a medical examiner, health policy experts, community advocates and others. This summer, the committee reviewed deaths through Fall 2022, but most states have not gotten that far.
After reviewing Thurman’s case, the committee highlighted Piedmont’s “lack of policies/procedures in place to evacuate uterus immediately” and recommended all hospitals implement policies “to treat a septic abortion on an ongoing basis.”
Piedmont did not have a policy to guide doctors on how to interpret the state abortion ban when Thurman arrived for care, according to two people with knowledge of internal conversations who were not authorized to speak publicly. In the months after she died, an internal task force of providers there created policies to educate staff on how to navigate the law, though they are not able to give legal advice, the sources said.“

Paulson isn’t known for bluffing moves for the sake of politics. I expect he’ll make good on his promise and others will follow. So far we’re not seeing those kinds of trades in the hopper but there’s a lot of cash not going to work…
Things l, however painful to contemplate, that need to be considered:
(1) Did the doctors deliberately allow Amber Nicole Thurman to die in the expectation, or at least hope, that her painful death would embarrass the legislature into repealing the law?
(2) We are told that her death was the consequence of a “rare” side effect. Precisely how rare is it?
(3) Related to the second point, death being a very serious side effect of Ms. Thurman’s abortion medication, was the decision to certify the drug for use the correct medical decision? Or was it merely a political decision, not justified by a proper evaluation of the medical risks?
Inga, you do realize you were kinda led to the wrong conclusions by the sources you cited. Although even those sources imply that the medication this poor woman took was probably wrong for her. She either wasn’t capable of following the directions properly or the clinic wasn’t careful how they dispensed the medication.

I've noticed that also. Something in the threaded comment coding closes the open tags at the next thread.
I wouldn't really consider it an unclosed tag, however. The coding won't let you post a comment with an open tag BUT it appears that it mistakenly accepts a malformed closing tag with the slash after the letter rather than before as a valid closing tag.
Absolutely not. If there is tissue that remains in the uterus after a birth, a natural miscarriage or an abortion there is a likelihood of infection if the tissue isn’t removed in a timely manner.
It seems, in this case, a lot of bad decisions were made - many of them by the woman who died. And those bad decisions had nothing to do with the law that was in place.

It took Progressives years to admit Hunters laptop was real, and there are still some on this blog that think Russian Collusion was real. Keep an eye on your cats.
How do liberals ignore the fact that abortion kills a live human being? My daughter, the one born with significant physical maladies, is an ultrasound technician specializing in the pre-born. Saving one life at a time.
Propublica refrained from clearly investigating and writing about the medical delay decisions -- not based on Georgia law nor, per courts, ignorance of it -- until long after the tragic death and the settlement compensation for medical malpractice had been resolved, with the accompanying non-disclosure. One hospital in question has quite a record of medical errors and fraud.
Do the victims of either case deserve excited Meryl Streep tears? Of course, but hundreds of thousands of other also do for horrific med-mal not related to abortion.
This was all -- all -- merely grim, exploitative theater. Both women who died had multiple places to go to receive timely, legally-informed medical care: Grady Hospital, Feminist Woman's Health Center, Planned Parenthood, multiple other clinics, all medically reputable, at least three undoubtedly known to them, or if not, a helpline or ten away. Tragically, neither their families nor they followed instructions to act quickly enough. And where the hell were the grown men who impregnated them? Absent.
Also, one patient likely should not have received that sort of abortion due to underlying conditions without competent medical oversight. Her body was also found to have fentanyl and other painkillers. Since it is alleged she was too ill to see a doctor, how did she acquire them? Were they prescribed? By whom? Why isn't any doctor charged with negligence there? So the medical board did not deem it an abortion complication death, and ProPublica, a political firm, wormholed all this crucial evidence.
Tragic and horrible? But not because of Georgia law. Democrat fear-mongering may have killed these women. But I frankly don't think that little of them -- I believe it is a narrative constructed after their deaths. I believe the lawyers, journalists, doctors, hospitals, and activists looking to exploit these cases or avoid professional consequences, are lying and concealing the real facts.
“Dr. Christina Francis, the CEO of the American Association of Pro-Life Obstetricians and Gynecologists? She's also been an expert witness for the GOP. That means she gets paid by the GOP, Sparky.”
I’m glad Mutaman clarified this. Now we can disregard anyone who has ever been an expert witness for the Democrat party.
"We have heard a whole lot over the past eight years about the need to revitalize blue-collar America. But factories don’t operate because presidents dump billions of borrowed dollars into places chosen for politically strategic reasons. Widgets don’t get made and the supply chain doesn’t keep churning along because the president orders it—no, not even if he uses the word “hereby.” "
Like John Paulson knows anything about the markets. He is of below average intelligence and skill (based on Wall Street consensus). He only ever did one good trade, the Big Short in 2007-08. He has consistently lost money ever since. His AUM shrank completely since , he is now managing only his only dwindling capital.
It's never the pregnant persons fault for getting pregnant. It's always a mystery on how the kid got there. Perhaps this tragic end was a direct result of a poor choice by Ms. Thurman. I'm sorry that she's dead. The killing machine that is our abortion industry did not serve her well.
They always assume you know nothing about the industry. It’s not a bad assumption, until they actually encounter someone who works in or around the industry…
Let's be clear, John Paulson was a schlub of a hedge fund manager who was essentially going out of business and someone brought him a bet to short housing. He made one good bet in his entire career. I would say the rest of his career shows what he really is. He's not someone who should be listened to.
The absolutely worst, incompetent, non governing body of MAGAS in Congress probably in history, the get nothing done group has now revolted against the absolute worst nominee in history never to be elected again. House Republicans are overwhelmingly dismissing former President Trump’s calls for a government shutdown in the absence of a proof-of-citizenship voting bill being signed into law, a public break from the GOP presidential nominee in the lead-up to the November election. A group of Republicans this week rejected a bill that combined a six-month continuing resolution (CR) with the Trump-backed voting bill, tanking the legislation in a move that thwarted Speaker Mike Johnson’s (R-La.) funding strategy. Now, as the Speaker prepares to defy Trump’s wishes and stage a vote on a “clean” three-month stopgap, rank-and-file Republicans are expected to back it — balking at the former president’s request. Republicans almost universally support the voting bill, but they say pushing the issue so intensely that it results in a shutdown would backfire on the party. Incompetence deluxe get rid of these losers please..
The Republican Party has nominated as presidential electors 14 people who falsely claimed to be states' electors four years ago, including some people who are currently facing criminal charges for that.
"Fourteen so-called fake electors who participated in former President Donald Trump’s 2020 scheme to throw the election results into chaos will once again serve as electors for Trump in 2024, including several who currently face criminal charges."
2024 brings back fake electors for Donald Trump, even some facing charges for 2020 https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/elections/2024/09/20/fake-electors-for-trump-2024/74955704007/?tbref=hp

This post at Legal Insurrection goes into some detail about how the protocols for administration of abortifacients have been steadily modified to extend the window for use and reduce the safeguard of requiring physician involvement and follow-up, up to the point of allowing mail-order dispensing.
It took you more than 24 hours to come up with that?! Or did your wife tell you to say that? She's pretty tough. I coudn't ask her because her mouth was full. But that's what the other guys said.

Quote below taken from:
Immigration Is Better Than Industrial Policy
Not an endorsement the article, but certainly an endorsement of the quote. I saw it at cafehayek.com this morn.
I told ya. There are going to beJills finger nail gouges on the door jamb of the Whitehouse.
Try again ritmo
It's never the pregnant persons fault for getting pregnant. It's always a mystery on how the kid got there. Perhaps this tragic end was a direct result of a poor choice by Ms. Thurman. I'm sorry that she's dead. The killing machine that is our abortion industry did not serve her well.
Enlighten us, oh, crazyman!
False! And easily verified as false! Again! As always with Abacus Boy Rich!
LOL
They always assume you know nothing about the industry. It’s not a bad assumption, until they actually encounter someone who works in or around the industry…
Really? It's nasty in the summer.
One does wonder why Joe and Democrats don’t want voters to see what Kamala would be like executing the duties of the President of the United States
Let's be clear, John Paulson was a schlub of a hedge fund manager who was essentially going out of business and someone brought him a bet to short housing. He made one good bet in his entire career. I would say the rest of his career shows what he really is. He's not someone who should be listened to.
Now go collect a prize on the way out Drago....
2024 brings back fake electors for Donald Trump, even some facing charges for 2020

Nobody would want physical relationship with Inga, or with you Mutant.
Mutant is obviously unfamiliar with the use of the term in Psychiatry.
Bich is now a Market authority
We see here a virtual tidal wave of bullshit from the lefties today.
Once again, as always, another easily disproved lie by the Harry Sisson of Althouse blog!
LOL
So pathetic!
This post at Legal Insurrection goes into some detail about how the protocols for administration of abortifacients have been steadily modified to extend the window for use and reduce the safeguard of requiring physician involvement and follow-up, up to the point of allowing mail-order dispensing.

Harris is afraid to debate Trump unless she has the lapdog media in her lap licking her face which is why she is scared to death to go on Fox News.

If Kamala is too insecure to debate on FOX News, then she is too weak to sit across the table from Xi or Putin.

Your wife tells me otherwise.
It took you more than 24 hours to come up with that?! Or did your wife tell you to say that? She's pretty tough. I coudn't ask her because her mouth was full. But that's what the other guys said.
