Elon Musk post worthy:

"You watched "The Hunger Games" and sided with the resistance.

You watched "Star Wars" and sided with the resistance.

You watched "The Matrix" and sided with the resistance.

You watched "Divergent" and sided with the resistance.

You watched "V for Vendetta" and sided with the resistance.

When it's fiction you understand. Yet you refuse to see it when it's the reality you're living in.

Seriously, has anyone ever paid taxes on tips?

Gospace said...

Back in the 1995-2000 era I knew quite a few people who worked under the table and collected unreported tips. All who thought taxes should be raised on the "rich"- or people like me who have every source of income reported directly to the IRS... Why didn't they report their under the table income or tips? Why- they were paying too much in taxes already!

Trump has now spent hours- until well after Joe's bedtime- talking to Elon without a script. Impressive performance.

And I understand he's done similar interviews with some internet hosts. Unscripted off the cuff. And planning on more. While Vance does the MSM interviews. And throws their obvious bias back in their faces.

I'll bet Elon would accept Kamala's invite to spend a few hours talking live with her... But then, she wouldn't make that invite.

Let's see- how about she sit down for a few hours live broadcast of an unscripted dialog with a friendly reporter of tech mogul? I'll bet Elon would even host it on "X". Show that she's really in command of facts and not truly as ignorant as she appears...

Or maybe- that's why she won't do so.

For those still waiting to find out what Kamala's policies will be once all the joyful excitement and twerking settle down, I believe there's a very easy and very reliable indicator. Namely, they will be exactly like the policies of the state she came from, was groomed by, financed by, and enthusiastically voted for...California. So if you like what they're doing to California, then you're going to love what Kamala's going to do to you.

Following up on comments re Harris vs Trump: forget talking to Musk for hours. Has anyone ever heard her explain her views off the cuff with actual arguments for, oh, 5 minutes or so? Does she have views beyond simple preferences like "abortion good"?

If she were to do a tech mogul "conversation," who should it be? Would have to be 1. very smart, 2. very successful/rich, and 3. able to actually talk rather than spout off or lead cheers for team Dem. Any suggestions?

ChatGPT: "According to the IRS, tip income is one of the more commonly underreported forms of income. While exact percentages are difficult to determine, various studies and IRS audits suggest that a substantial portion of tip income—up to 40-50%—may go unreported." Seriously, you can easily look this shit up yourself.

I remember laughing at that silliness when I saw it on twitter posted by some antifa nutjob. Nobody sides with the resistance, they side with the good guys. If the movie is written to make the resistance the good guys, then that’s who we root for. If it’s not written that way, then we don’t.

So it is thus that the honeymoon period ends. The usual suspects haven't put out a new poll in several days. Rasmussen can tell you all why.

Nobody with an IQ above 80 actually thought Harris and Walz were suddenly popular.

And it is all downhill from here.

tim maguire said...

I think the real tell is her embracing the no tax on tips idea—Harris has no philosophy beyond “Kamala Harris should be president.” Her policies will be determined by the latest polling. If she were competent, she could be another Bill Clinton. But since she’s not, her administration (god forbid!) will be a rudderless shit show.

Shamala's Joy.
Shamala Harris explained her one weird trick today. She will put out press releases supporting different bits of the MAGA agenda but calling it her own "progressive" policy agenda. The Dem press will never point out that both parties have the same agenda and she will never explain - just laugh. Of course, if Shamala got elected the people now running the country would disregard everything she had said and continue on with their agenda just as they did after Biden was elected. So, in a sense, nothing Shamala says matters. But a debate might make her look so bad that the vote count would not seem at all probable. But copying the MAGAagenda eliminates this problem. Imagine Trump trying to debate Shamala when both have the same policies. He can't attack her because she has the same policies he does And she just ignores the fact that she is claiming his policies as hers and just says whatever and then laughs unburdened by the past - or the future.

Our daughter worked at Starbucks for years and yes, tips are recorded on paystubs. Probably not all of it is reported, especially cash tips, but tips paid on plastic card transactions certainly are.

Also, gig income is taxable, which is why the reporting requirements (and threshold) have changed. This, from IRS.gov:

Gig Economy Income is Taxable
You must report income earned from the gig economy on a tax return, even if the income is:

From part-time, temporary or side work
Not reported on an information return form — like a Form 1099-K, 1099-MISC, 1099-NEC, W-2 or other income statement
Paid in any form, including cash, property, goods, or virtual currency
"

Former President Donald Trump's vow to stop taxing tips would cost the federal government up to $250 billion over 10 years, according to a nonpartisan watchdog group.

Now that Kamala Harris is copying Trump...

CBS News
@CBSNews

Vice President Kamala Harris is rolling out a new policy position, saying she'll fight to end taxes on tips for service and hospitality workers.

"To make matters worse, Harris voted in 2022 to pass legislation to allow the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to track down workers’ tips so that they could be taxed.

On August 7, 2022, Harris cast the tie-breaking vote to pass the Inflation Reduction Act, which provided $80 billion in additional funding to the IRS, which then got to work cracking down on the service industry’s reporting of tips for taxation purposes."

And they talk about WEIRD and eyeliner???
"Sure, he legalized pedophilia in his state, reclassifying child sexual abuse by adults as just another “sexual orientation.” Tim thinks love is love!
“Walz and his wife, Gwen, who is also a teacher, spent their honeymoon in China. The pair spent their trip leading two high school tour groups, according to the Journal Star.”

I don’t know about you, but I’m sure every normal, down-to-Earth, all-American patriotic American man would be happy to take groups of minor children with them on their honeymoon—in China. Right? How romantic! Do you think Tim and Gwen let the kids sleep in their honeymoon suite? Might have gotten a little crowded!"

Good morning People. Has anyone noticed how quickly summer is passing this year? OMG the pond temperatures hear in New England are starting to drop already. Thank Gaia, they only barely got above 80 in late July early August. Trump’s ill-fitting suit is his uniform. Back in the day, he dressed like Gordon Gekko because that was the uniform for Manhattan movers and shakers. He could certainly afford the tailoring and styles to look sharp now if he wanted. Cripes, all he would have to do is get measured once and tell Melania to style him. And if anyone could afford an effective hair loss solution, it wojld be him.

He doesnt want to do any of that, because he correctly assesses that looking and sounding too much like a rich guy would work against him - see, e.g., Romney. So he wears a blue bag and a red tie every day - to the casual observer, it looks like the same suit all the time, the way a working man has one suit. And even though he has 16 years of private education, including a Penn degree, he doesnt code switch out of his Archie Bunker accent, because unlike valley girl/HBC soror Kamala, he is not trying to hide where he comes from (well, actually hers is a double code switch - she’s talking like someone trying to hide poor black origins, even though that’s not her origin!).

Trump is better at drag than RuPaul. And I’m saying that like it’s a good thing.

Kamala (and Joe-remember him? Our President?) could have made uge political points by politely telling the EU Commissar that we have a Constitution which guarantees free speech, and he should butt out.

But they would never do that, because: a) Trump, and b) they agree with the EU Commissar.

Come to think of it--Where are the ABCNBCCBSFOXNYTWAPO? Shouldn't they be loudly condemning the attempted suppression of speech by government ?
