I LOLed. Literally. His self effacing humor is one of the things that can’t be faked by a “normal politician.” It’s endearing to many, including me, but probably infuriating to his opponents who keep trying to dehumanize him.

In my experience, if there’s one thing leftists hate, it’s a sense of humor. They insist that you be heavy and serious all the time, because the world is always ending.

Same here. A literal LOL. This is the sort of thing that makes him 'one of us'. This is exactly the sort of thing normal people would do and say to one another, and about themselves.
"OMG, is he serious? This is not the time for jokes. Our democracy is literally on the line and this kind of divisive humor is not what the nation needs at a time like this".

Plugs Biden and his Jill-inspired "looks" would never do that. Biden's one of those pols who thinks so well of himself but has nothing to back it up. From hair plugs to botox to those obviously mega-buck teeth work to his chic-chic clothes, it all screams PHONY. And then when he opens his mouth . . .
I watched the rally in real time and laughed out loud at this point.
I'm also struck by how much the crowd loves Trump and how much Trump loves the crowd. There is real, mutual love and respect between them.
To be perfectly blunt this is what happens to a country when it selects its leadership using American Idol talent show criteria. The American system of constitutional democracy simply doesn't work any longer. That is the REAL takeaway from all this. No amount of tinkering, or jiggering can save this crazy Jenga tower that is American government. This Idiocracy NEEDS to fall. As any fireman will tell you, at some point you have to realize that there's no saving a burning structure and you just have to let it burn hopefully without too much suffering or bloodshed.

I like it. I think Trump has entered a personally candid "In-your-face-assholes" phase. He's accepted that his enemies could not possibly hate him more, so why not relax and enjoy being himself.
Security issues aside, he seems to feel no need to defend himself.

Were Trump to abandon his long-term combover for a shaved head, perhaps accompanied by dressing in sackcloth and ashes and going barefoot, the TDS patients would declare him an appropriator of the practices of early Franciscan monks, and decry that the cultural theft was naughty. There is just no pleasing some people.
Biden, on the other hand, gets kudos for only showing moderate dementia symptoms on a good day. How's that Covid coming? Is Biden done yet as a candidate?
