"Biden’s Team Deliberately Kneecapped Trump’s Security To Allow An Assassination Attempt."

Writes Sean Davis in The Federalist.

Very strong words. Read the whole thing. Excerpt:

They deliberately starved Trump’s security team of the resources it needed. And they did it repeatedly, over many weeks and months. With Trump’s security detail understaffed, under-resourced, and stretched to its limits, Biden’s security regime reportedly diverted even more resources to a hastily planned Jill Biden event that just happened to be in the area.

Biden’s security regime then ordered the most obvious assassination perch in the entire area to remain outside the main security perimeter. Furthermore, Biden’s Secret Service director ordered law enforcement and counter-snipers OFF the roof the assassin used....

And even as snipers on the roof near Trump saw a gunman on the other roof, Biden’s security regime refused to have agents immediately surround Trump or remove him from the stage to protect him from being shot.

Given the lies and nonsense from both Biden’s Department of Homeland Security secretary and his Secret Service director, it’s increasingly difficult to believe this was just a series of independent mistakes (Secret Service director Kim Cheatle at one point this week claimed snipers couldn’t be on the roof because it was sloped and they might fall and hurt themselves). In contrast, when you look at the entire picture, what you see better resembles a deliberate plan to make Trump vulnerable but to appear at first glance to be just a couple of innocent mistakes....

That's what struck me as well. Every single experienced sniper, counter-sniper, special forces, ex-SS etc type from multiple nations and protection services/teams that commented for the first 48 hours that I read, all were remarkably unanimous that they weren't buying this scenario at all.

Unfortunately, and this is why a "conspiracy" mindset would be impossible to avoid, as so many of these actual experts suggested, is that the creation of a plot covered in "incompetence" was always the go-to approach for deniability.

Gee, it was just this mistake, followed by this mistake, then this one, and this one....and on and on and on. Delivering a situation where it would be impossible to disentangle "incompetence" from potential malevolence.

And all of it triggered on a day just before the republican convention...where Trump had not yet announced his VP pick....so it something were to happen to Trump there would have been no specific designated Trump VP selectee to pick up the mantle...conveniently, timing wise, throwing the convention back to the control of the GOPe-ers and a potential return to the sort of candidates that a certain set of DC insiders would prefer.

There's a middle ground between incompetence and an actual conspiracy, which this seems to fit. The Biden administration did not make the protection of Trump a priority. They sent the B team, which was clearly not up to the task, and somehow had the idea that they couldn't preemptively neutralize a guy with a rifle on a roof.

This is where these deep staters have driven us. No matter what happens now, and we know where this "investigation" is going and the republicans in the House and Senate aren't going to really "investigate" anything either, we are never going to get any answers. There's an old line that aviation and naval accidents are a combination of a myriad of factors that coalesce to create a disaster. These can usually be counted on the fingers of both hands.

This is not such a case. The number of things that had to go wrong here would require your toes and the digits of several others.

That does not "just happen". I know, we all know, that Complex Systems Are Not Surviving The Competency Crisis, but what just occurred would have A) resulted in multiple and immediate firings across the board and B) and immediate organizational restructuring at the highest level not even 15 fucking years ago.

It's bad. Very bad. Criminally negligent.

Barring extraordinary evidence to the contrary, this is a never attribute to malice what can be explained by incompetence issue, and we should embrace that argument, not go down these crazy rabbit holes.

But it is indisputable that a lone gunman apparently found his way onto the right roof at the right moment, fairly efficiently and with few barriers to his entry. And the reaction to his appearance was not handled with the vigor we would expect.

But: In the same way that a lone gunman was effective, a few people, in the right place, at the right time, could do a lot to engineer these circumstances into existence. I don't doubt that Davis could be right. The House needs to take the lead on this forcefully.

It makes sure nobody interferes with the shooter.

It keeps the path clear so the shooter can get to the correct spot following the path they opened for him.

It makes sure no civies interfere with a kid that has a gun on his back carrying a 12' ladder over to clime up on a building while Trump is talking.

And it makes sure they can keep track of the situation after they shoot him to keep him from telling everyone who helped him out.

Wa St Blogger म्हणाले...

Hi on the sads list (cause I couldn't be sure this was the saddest of all things) is that your position on the explanations will be entirely dependent on your partisan view. That comes from the fact that the supposed respected agencies have so destroyed their air of competence through partisan scale tipping that no one can legitimately trust anything that they say at this point.

The obvious danger is that when they are actually telling the truth, they won't be believed even then.

To say that people would not be on a (very gently) sloped roof is so over-the-top (see what I did there) bullshitty, that we can now expect any future explanation just to be lie v2, v3, or whatever until they get something that people will take as plausible, which of course, no one on the right will, at this point.

The fact that the attempt was so close to success means that people screwed up big time and people should be losing jobs over it.

1. Over-taxed crew.
2. Resources taken away for another event
3. CLOSE Building roof not manned.
4. Snipers with visual who did not act
5. Clear reports that a gunman was inside the perimeter
6. Gunman seen by multiple security personnel but not engaged
7. Gunman knew where to go
8. Gunman known for 26 minutes
9. President allowed to be exposed with a known gunman

If this is the state of capability of the SS, every single one of them needs to be fired, and then they can reapply under new management. I would not have them protecting my dog at this point.

Trump should hire his own security from one of the many contractors out there.

Kennedy should ask for a voucher in lieu of SS and hire his own team. (Wouldn't THAT be a slap in the face to the SS)

And Cheatle should be building her Indeed profile. She is unfit for her job. Ultimately, the lack of resource excuse is entirely on her. If she knew, she should have made arrangements. That she allowed an insufficient force to be protecting an ex-president means she does not know her duty.

RideSpaceMountain म्हणाले...

"But it is indisputable that a lone gunman apparently found his way onto the right roof at the right moment, fairly efficiently and with few barriers to his entry. "

If everything is to be believed, he was inefficiently taking his actions over 26 minutes with over half of those being under direct observations by tens if not hundreds who immediately recognized how suspicious he was. In other words, a Iraqi toddler from Tikrit with a vendetta against someone could have done a better job.

26 minutes is 25 and half minutes longer than someone with even twice the competency needs to pull off this hit at the dumpster fire of a security cordon around this event.

That's why this defies belief. Incompetence of this magnitude requires investigations and charges of criminal negligence....and let's dig so very much deeper while we're at it if we don't mind.

Our knowledge is not special or rare. Most of it is pure common sense and intuition.

The biggest step you have to take is to actually realize someone is trying to kill you and you are trying to kill them. You understand the weapons at hand and explore their capabilities.

The only thing most people screw up is understanding how fields of fire work. Civies tend to "surround" targets. You make an L shape instead.

Most of you would do pretty well if I took you on a walk around to design a security plan.

It really isn't that hard.

The SS had people on site that knew exactly what was going on.

There is no possibility that this was incompetence.

None.

The building from which a gunman fired at former President Trump on Saturday was — at least in hindsight — an obvious security risk. Its rooftop offered an ideal sniper’s perch, with a close, elevated and unobstructed view of Mr. Trump.

But when the Secret Service drew up plans for Saturday’s rally, it left that building outside its security perimeter

Serious Question:
HOW? (or WHY?) did the shooter imagine that he'd be able to go up on that roof?
HOW? could he have thought that there WOULDN'T be cops up there?

as i've said before, back in the '80's, the SS wouldn't allow me to have a smoke on the top of of parking ramp that was above where the President would be driving THREE HOURS later. Just like on TV

Seriously, HOW? could ANY ONE imagine that they'd be able to waltz on up to that roof?
UNLESS someone TOLD him it'd be okay

Temujin म्हणाले...

From the outset some of us were asking questions. Basic questions about the roof that was closest with a direct sightline to the stage being left unguarded. This is a basic question. As were others.

Then we learned people on the ground had seen the shooter, shouted about it and told police about it.
Then we learned the secret service snipers saw the shooter and held back taking him out until given the 'go'.
Then we learned that our own Secret Service had men stationed inside of the building the shooter stood on top. That they had seen the shooter 30 min before the shooting sitting on the grass. Then he disappeared. Then they saw him again, checking range with a range finder- on the grass. Easy enough to question. But they didn't and he disappeared again.
Then he showed up with a backpack, and proceeded to move to the back of the building where, out of sight, he climbed up the building.

These had to be the least curious secret service agents in history OR they were told to not move on subject.

The answers we're getting from the top, from the feckless Director of Secret Service is (1) the area outside of the established perimeter was up to local police (apparently they don't communicate with each other). Then we heard (2) that they didn't put agents on the roof of that building because it's slanted and something...safety.

Although the Director said something about 'transparency' in an interview, she's basically full of s***. And everyone knows this. Given the track record of our government attacking the truth, and attacking Donald Trump over the last few years, the longer they withhold the truth, the more life the worst scenario takes on.

Trump was not supposed to survive that day. He may have really messed things up for some people.

The incompetence is two fold:

I am seriously conflicted and waver back and forth between negligence, bolstered by indifference and conspiracy with plausible deniability baked in.

So much had to happen for this to occur that I feel someone high up had to want it to happen. How does a sniper team, with eyes on the subject not eliminate the threat until after he fires, and how does Trump stay exposed with a known threat? How does the threat get into position unengaged while being observed by multiple security assets?

For that to happen requires a breaking of standard protocols. Who set those ROEs?

However, for something like that to happen, many, many people would have to be in on it, and that his very hard to keep under wraps. Unless the security team is hand-picked with internal pressure to avoid talking, it would be hard for someone not to discuss protocols that violated norms. A conspiracy that large would be hard to pull off.

Both scenarios are inconceivable, at yet it happened. What IS conceivable is that we will not be given the accurate information to know what happened and why. There will be massive CYA efforts put in place, and no one will be held to account.

David-2 म्हणाले...

Just a comment or two to focus not on the conspiracy theory - which is obviously true - but instead of SS Dir Cheadle's "sloping roof" excuse:

1) She's not just so stupid she puts all other government managers to shame. She's also contemptuous of everyone else, to try to put that one over.

2) But it isn't just her. She didn't go out there and just "wing it" in the press availability or whatever it was. Her whole "C-suite" at the SS knew it was going to be the top question of the day. Not just one of the questions. The top question. And so it was discussed among them: What to say? What excuse to use? So it is unavoidable to conclude that the entire group of top-level managers/staffers/flunkies is just as stupid, just as contemptuous of everyone.

3) I live in an ordinary neighborhood in Seattle where all the single-family residences have sloping roofs. Pretty steep, some of them. And, as an older neighborhood, there is always a lot of roof work being done. 2 or 3 every summer. Lots of trained roofers with their untrained day-worker helpers up there 2 or 3 stories high. None have ever fallen (we'd know in this neighborhood). I'm not sure what accounts for it. Maybe it's the roof safety harnesses they all wear! Required by OSHA, available at Home Depot, $50 per man. Do you think there are any on the GSA schedule?

Inga, dear, it doesn't matter who tried to murder Donald Trump or what the assailant intended as his ultimate goal -- left-wing, right-wing, middle-of-the-road, Democrat, Republican, Satan, or Santa Claus -- Since Crooks has been killed, it is unlikely that any clear motivation for his actions will ever be established.

The question before honest Americans is this, did the Biden administration facilitate the assassination attempt by withholding adequate security resources from the Trump campaign and/or by misdirecting the security team to allow the suspect to bring a rifle to a perfect shooting position with a clear field of fire less than 150 meters from President Trump's unprotected head?

Do you understand now? Or are you as simple as you seem?

@phantommut: (and the equipment and style scream amateur; a pro would have used higher caliber gear and gone for central body mass, not the glory head shot) would take the bait.

I'm not disagreeing, just researching and noting the details.

The 5.56 NATO / .223 Rem (standard AR-15 cartridge) has plenty of power for a lethal 300 yard shot, let alone the 150 yards of this event. Still, a pro would absolutely use an accurate bolt-action rifle rather than a sloppy semi-auto. Indeed, the pros on the roof had scoped Remington bolt actions with vastly more power (apparently .300 Win Mag) and premium 7-35x riflescopes. A head shot isn't an issue if the rifle can put 5 shots into a <1" circle at that distance. This would be a very, very easy shot for a trained sniper.

https://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/secret-service-guns-and-gear-of-july-13th-2024-44814994

The shooter apparently stole a 2013 AR-15 from his father. Per the image below, it may be a short 16" carbine with either a red dot sight or small riflescope. This is NOT a sniper's weapon of choice. With typical ammunition, a trained shooter may be capable of hitting a 3" to 5" circle at that distance. That's a trained marksman...not this guy... Yes, attempting a head shot was silly for a 20-year-old amateur. He might have been aiming at center mass and somehow got near Trump's head, but if the gun had a coarse red dot sight...point in the general direction and then spray and pray. That seems to be what the impulsive 1994 White House shooter did when Clinton was president -- he saw a guy with similar hair to Clinton and blasted 24 shots in the general direction.

Not to mention the incompetence of Kim Cheatle — she certainly seems to be at a similar level of competence as, for instance, Pete Buttigieg, Lloyd Austin, Tony Blinken, and Jennifer Grantholm.

Let me put it this way. If the security at preceding Trump rallies was rock solid and tight, then porous at this particular rally, it might suggest a possible conspiracy, but for all we know it has been porous all year and only last Saturday did a troubled youth finally show up with a rifle. We also don’t know when young Mr. Crooks showed up to the rally. If he showed up just 15 minutes or so before Trump came out onstage and he went straight to the roof from where he took his shot, thst would say something, but what if he was there an hour early and took up a position a half mile or so away from the stage, then realized that there was a better — and unsecured! — spot just 400 feet from the stage

This is what you all need to focus on.

The security plan leaving that roof open was obviously stupid but you could in theory make an excuse for it. Every SS agent was an 80 IQ retard with absolutely no experience and no common sense.

You do not have eyes on a potential threat without having the cover team pull Trump to a safe place while they send a team to investigate and clear the threat. It would have been trivial to delay the speech for a couple minutes and go apprehend and question the suspicious character who had a gun and was carrying a ladder around.

There is no world where you let Trump go out on that stage and speak until you clear that threat.

It just does not happen.

And there is no way that everyone on the SS Team was that bad. If I grab 10 random men off the street 5 of them will come up with a reasonable security plan for that venue.

You people need to stop lying to yourselves.

How did Gavril Princip end up being the assassin of Archduke Ferdinand?

He received an anonymous letter (no I am not kidding) that had a newspaper clipping about the Archdukes visit to Sarajevo.

He then worked up a plot to kill the archduke, but needed guns...

So a friendly connection, a Serbian military officer who was part of the Black Hand hooked them up, and trained them with bombs and pistols.

The Serbian Black hand helped smuggle them from Belgrade into Sarajevo.

So, once you start thinking about it, you realize the Black Hand set the boys up.
They knew the boys as Yugoslav romantic revolutionaries. Someone sent the letter, and then someone could "help" them get weapons and training.

It seems obvious the Serbian Black Hand society did the whole thing.

Now, just imagine if you were...say a left-leaning Intelligence Community group in America...could you....find some dupes? Train them, give them an idea, suggest a killing right before the convention, when no VP pick has been made yet?

Maybe you'd train him in explosives, too, and how not to use the internet, and to register as a Republican.

Maybe you'd suggest a rally date, and even a location.

You'd make sure to teach him how to wipe his phone and computers.

Will we ever be allowed to "know" such a thing? I'm thinking no.

The fact is both are true. They really are that evil, and they really are that stupid. This HAD to work, and even with an evil lunatic ready to cast the Secret Service under the bus, Trump survived by the Hand of God.

A similar plan is very unlikely to work, even against RFK Jr., and the result has been an incredibly strong boost in support for President Trump.

Vilification didn't work
Lawfare didn't work
Killing him WOULD eliminate him as a candidate. Might or might result in a victory for Biden. but it might be a better option than with Trump alive.

WE believe that a convention scramble for a candidate would weaken the Dems. Why would they not think the same would happen to the Rs? And there is a good chance a compromise candidate that would piss off the Trump loyalists enough to depress their vote.

No, killing Trump would be a valid strategy.

We don't because it's untrue. The Republicans are more diverse than the Democrats. Olympia Snow, for example. No Democratic senator has categorically rejected Biden and embraced the equally if not left-leaning Robert Kennedy.

You are just a despicable stupid person and allowing you in polite spaces almost resulted in hell being unleashed.

All of the decent people reading this need to understand the hell your tolerance of this evil almost made a reality. Most of you have not seen a head explode after being hit by a 556 round at close range. Trump’s exploding head was almost broadcast for everyone to see. People would have watched it over and over again.

You need to stop making excuses for this. Thousands of people would be dead right now if the shooter succeeded and the warm up phase would just now be getting over.

Please wake up and recognize what people like Cook are and what they want to happen.

Then there's no point in keeping the data confidential, is there? Make it available for downloading. Let Americans see for themselves. Redact the phone numbers, but let us see his browsing history and his texts.

RCOCEAN II म्हणाले...

The three things that cant be denied:

1) Trump's SS detail has been starved of agents, despite his being under the biggest threat.
2) RFK has been denied SS protection out of pure spite.
3) During the Margo Documents raid, FBI agents were armed and given permission to use deadly force.

There's a definite pattern of deliberate negligence. If Biden's DHS is OK with millions of illegals pouring over the border, and doesn't care how many are criminals and how many Americans get killed by them, is it too much to suspect that they didn't care if Trump or RFK got killed?

BTW, has anyone considered what will happen when the NY Judge sentenced Trump to Jail in September? How is Trump supposed to be safe while in Prison?

And the Director of the SS should be fired just for that sloped roof comment. The whole point is to secure the roof, not the inside of the building. Trump wasn't going to get shot from inside the building. At the very least, what about having people OUTSIDE The building to prevent anyone from getting on the roof?

And i've sat on "sloped roof" in perfect safety, because I sat the right way. And have the SS ever heard of safety ropes? Roofers have them.

Yancey Ward म्हणाले...

I keep having to return to the question- are the Biden people really this incompetent?

Yes- yes they are.

I did roofing in high school and college for money- that roof from which Crooks shot has less slope than any roof I ever worked on- probably a slope of not even 2/12. 3/12 was normal where I grew up, worked on a few 4/12 roofs and one miserable 6/12 roof that had the skin on the soles of my feet peeling off in huge blisters by the end of the job during the Summer of 1980.

Mason G म्हणाले...

remember that if this is what actually happened, and Occam's razor applied to the past six or eight years says that it's the most likely explanation, that they are going to deploy sock puppets on sites like this

https://docs.house.gov/meetings/FD/FD00/20231130/116615/HHRG-118-FD00-20231130-SD001.pdf

So while it's true that arguing with the willfully deaf may help to clarify your thinking, as they throw up there talking points, you are still dealing with people who probably came here after some "call to action' on Mastadon, or some other liberal site, and you can eviscerate their arguments, and they won't even notice, because they simply don't care. They care about one thing, preserving the political power of the machine behind Droolin' Joe.

RCOCEAN II म्हणाले...

Look, people need to stop being stupid. Biden and Mayorkas didn't get together and plan to kill Trump. WHat they did is make an assassination possible by refusing to care and use due diligence. They had a le dee dah, "trump can get by on the minimum number of agents" and if he shots well that's the breaks attitude.

There is no "Shortage of SS agents". The budget is in the BILLIONS.

The key is the denial of SS protection to RFK. That man could be dead right now due to Biden refusing to protect him. That's the sort of people we're dealing with.

imTay म्हणाले...

"RFK has been denied SS protection out of pure spite."

No, it was a calculated move to force RFK Jr to pay the ruinous expenses himself, and to drain his funds.

Ralph L म्हणाले...

The line of sight could have easily been shut off by moving the podium back a few feet and/or the bleachers to a different angle. Someone from SS should have been there when they were set up.

There was an unmanned two story roof right there, too. Were they fixated on that and ignoring the lower one?

It's as if they were all sleepwalking. When Reagan was shot, they shoved him into the limo and high-tailed it before they knew he'd been hit (probably the training after JFK's driver slowed down after the first shot). Compare with how long it took to get Trump into the SUV--and the SUV off the grounds.

These things always require you to believe a couple of dozen people were all in together in a conspiracy. Maybe one or two could pull it off but not the entire team. I read that Trump’s team had the day off because they’d been working seven day weeks with no time off so the crew he had Saturday were fill-ins. I’m going to call incompetence. It is easy to believe Biden, Blinken and Cheadle made a decision to leave Trump’s team short handed but I don’t think the folks on the ground were all in on it together.

And when the FBI said they couldn't crack his phone, I was like, OK, let's wait. But then when they immediately "assure" us that there was nothing on it of any possible interest, well, sorry, we have been lied to way too much. Often by the FBI, and you can rest assured that the people they put on this investigation are trusted by Biden's inner circle to "do the right thing."

Watch when Congress subpoenas the phone, Merrick "Rosemary Woods" Garland refuses.
